A shaky head is a great summer technique. I use them in deeper water with a floating plastic like elaztech. I also pour my own worms that float, so that shaky head stands up more on the bottom. Works great for me!
@@Darkfire889 A ned rig certainly can float and stand up, but generally they are used with a much smaller plastic. You usually want a shaky head to have a long tail so you can "shake" it and get the tail to wiggle and have action - hence the name "shaky" head.
I live on one of the Tennessee River (TVA) lakes and a big shakey head is always part of my arsenal in the summer months. I really love the Zoom Magnum Shakey Head worm in Junebug color.
I love using a Shaky head and the Trick Worm is a fav of mine , in the summer heat I like using black, also I like using a Aarons Magic Worm on the Spot Remover, good video.
Thanks for talking about shacky heads. After watching I need to use it differently. Appreciate you. 😊.tight lines. Love the video with family, testing the dice lure.
Thanks Matt. Shakyhead is great when the bites tuff. When that technique first came out I thought it was the greatest thing since the Texas rig. I have since gravitated toward the neko, it just gets more bites. Neko rigged worms have a modified wacky action that bass have to eat. Have you ever seen really small fish pick at a earthworm? They bite the worm in the middle and swim backwards. Bass see a wacky rig worm and think they are stealing it from other fish. That's my theory on wacky and neko working so well.
I told myself I was going to fish a Shaky Head more often this year try to build some confidence and it. Course I have all the Baits and the heads. It's just so hard for me to put down the Ned rig because it catches everything everywhere. No I have been trying to hover rig thanks to you and core tackle
David Dudley Perfection Shakey Head jig head is the best. It triggers more bites for me than any other one. It's because it stands up consistently better than all others.
You scared me with the title, I was ready to run out and buy up what I could. It's definitely got a place in my box. I like dropping the spot remover on brush piles.
I fish TVA lakes. Excellent tips, can’t wait to try them. Still cools off in the evenings here in East Tennessee. Big Max Scent user, that’s about all I throw now.
I love the Shakey head just not really as a finesse bait. Normally it's 3/8 ounce or bigger 6/0 hook and a 9.5" or bigger worm. From may till October I always have one rigged up.
Matt, I didn't have to go further than the title of this video to say to myself resoundingly, YES! In fact, it was never really alive with me. I can do all the bottom damage I need with a Ned Rig. I'll never understand how a worm bent over on a lead head will ever represent a baitfish. Throw the shaky head in the trash with the lipless crankbait and the Carolina Rig!
I see some comments below saying throw them away. Go right ahead and do that then I will catch your bass for you on my shakey head with a zoom trick worm which works very well and I also use ned rigs and the buckeye spot remover works great also.
I like the Xcite bait Maximus , it's also bouyant so it stands up on a Magnum Shaky head. I also fish it as a Neko rig with a 3/16 oz Mustad Tungsten screw in weight . It's accounted for a few 20 lb plus limits which are real nice fish for SW Michigan where I live. I also have Senko shaped worms poured with no salt in them so they stand up , typically pair that up with a 1/4 oz shaky head .
I don’t fish shaky heads much but it is something I need to start making myself put down the drop shot and fish. It’s appealing to me but I never seem to fish it.
I don't know why Berkley discontinued the shaky snake. I've caught many fish with a shaky head on that exact color you showed. another good one if they still make them is the 13 fishing bubble butt. it has a small air pocket in the tail to help it stand up in the water.
I will never stop using a shaky head-- which is just an oversized Ned when you think about it- or is a Ned an undersized shaky head? Idk which came first but- I love them both. Trick Worms have always been special to me because they were the first thing I learned to fish and caught a bass with. And I kept catching them over the years- my personal best came on a Junebug trick worm fished on a shaky head. I throw a lot of creature baits on them to- they never get hung up because the hook point is covered, they fish in and out of the light cover around the banks really well- and they get bit. It keeps your craw standing up in a defensive posture. The Missile Baits Quiver works really well, and if you like magnum shaky heads check out The Wormser.
Most of the bass I caught this spring was on a shaky head. The baits that worked the best for me were the trick worm and the roboworm fat. The best color was junebug by a mile. I like the Picasso Rino jig or the Davis Bait shaky head. Instead of a screw lock they both have a notched keeper. The worms just last so much longer. The shaky heads aren't going anywhere. They are here to stay
I’ve been destroying huge pike here in Southern Ontario Canada, I’m using X-Zone Goby Punch Tubes, 3 inch, my retrieve is rediculously slow, dragging them back to my kayak.
@@lowspeedhighdrag566 I use Quantum Accurist combos, they retail for around 250 bucks here in Canada. I use 30 pound braid with a twelve to fourteen pound mono leader. I use a double uni to join them together, I don’t use wire leaders, the tubes usually keep their teeth away from the line. Hope this helps, let me know if there’s anything else I can help with.👍
I found 2 I like for soft bottom it is Gambler Giggy Heads and Megastrike Shake2 Shakey Head. Why I like that head is it does not have a pigtail. The hard bottom shakey head I like is Alien Head or Buckeye Lures Spot Removers
I have moved more towards the neko rig most of the time outside of fishing wood. Still has a place but the neko rig works better for me in most situations.
The big bite baits Squirrel tail worm is money on a shaky head The tail is slimmer than the body of the bait and it has a bulb on the end of it that floats. Even when you are not moving the bait the tail gets pushed around by the water so you get great movement even when it is sitting still.
Shakeyheads seem to be meant to stand up. So it seems like the non floating worms have to be kept moving and repeating the fall. Where floating worms like zman or nikko can truly fish slower and stay there longer and not get hidden. Would you say that is the general presentation?
So as u discussed hooks I remember dirty jigs dropped ya I have not bought anything but a spot killer swim jig since …. Matt Stephan guppy head still there number one seller last I looked .. I think they shld of dropped tacklin ass n myself… I switched shaky head used use the Scott cantaberry
The shaky head still slaps on my waters it’s always my go to when nothing else is working I throw a shaky head on and boom end up getting one almost everytime.
Years ago the round ball head with a sring came out I would file the head to make it stand up better the double ringer and baby brush hog still used by me catches them!
For me the shaky head is the deal. I think it’s going to catch more fish in the coming years after the Ned and dropshot fall off some more. I really like a curl tail worm too!
I used to love the slider head by Charlie reeds I think but wish they would come out with one with a lil bigger hook , it rigs weedless like a Texas rig , just an idea also for y’all
