No I didn't use the yarn under , though my daughter does when she crochets and it does make a tighter looking fabric.
Hello. Thanks for your video. I am trying to make Bonny too but I have a doubt and I am stuck at row 35 36. Not sure I am on the good road. Can you help me there and tell me if I am doing okey thanks to this picture. I have the feeling that it is the beginning of the tail so it should be on the back no? Don't know where I am going and doing. Thank you so much if you can give me a little help.

I've looked at the pattern and a row 35 is where I had trouble too. I think it took me 3 goes to get it right. If you do the chain and this will be the tail sticking out the back, it should be inline with the beak. You then crochet the bottom of the chain to take you back onto the body. Go round the body and then back to the chain again. Go along the chain to the stitch marker and that's the end of the round. Give it a try, it might take you a few goes. I have photos of the back view on the Ravelry project page for Bonny Puffin. I think the author answers questions on Instagram if you continue to have problems. Hopefully you'll get on OK.

I am working on Murray but really struggling with the snout colors being uneven. Any tips?
From memory I think I was the same and it took several goes before I was happy with the result. He's not perfect but I think it adds character. 🙂
