You need the resources to gather enough keys to open caches. It's predatory.

@@vazic85Is it worth it? I can't afford to throw more money besides the season pass or now gold pass too. You don't need every new card let alone every card. Yeah it might be meta & more importantly fun, but sounds like you threw down hundreds to catch up to where you're at
The balance of f2p and p2w is tipping on the p2w too much. There have been alot of nerfs to gold bundles. Which makes card acquisition worse.
It bothers the fuck out of me that so many players who play Snap say that F2P players don’t deserve a say in card balancing or card acquisition. I see it A LOT ,and you can almost guarantee somebody replying in a shit talking manner if someone comments about being free to play and feeling underwhelmed. It’s insane
Funny enough the most toxic community for this game is reddit, the amount of people who defend SNAPs greedy monetization pretty often
I think ALL players deserve a "say" in the game but most of the F2P players I see on social media continue to demand that they get everything they want (basically, everything for free) and that doesn't fly either. The fact that some people aren't investing a dime in a game they are A. monetizing (streamers / TH-camrs) and B. building a platform from still floors me, though.

I’m talking about free to play players who are just in the community that I talk to or see in comments/replies who get belittled for saying “Mockingbird should be nerfed” , “Why is Hope Summers so overpowered while also being locked behind a paywall?”
Well, you're wrong. I can name 5 right off the top of my head. I've rarely seen instances where people were "belittled" for saying a card was overpowered or locked behind a paywall. I mean, SD is a business, and businesses are in business to....*gasp* make money. There's nothing wrong with being F2P, just don't expect the game to revolve around you and your unwillingness to spend money. EVERY time a new bundle comes out, it's the same people with the same whining..."That's too much" or "what about the free to play players?" Ben brode said it himself on one of the TH-cam ads showing up for marvel snap, they wanted to make a game that you cannot drop a hundred bucks on to complete the game and get all the cards. Iv taken this quite literally… money has no change on the game, playstyles, community only digital art, so why spend any money if it doesn’t change the game, only visual experience when the game is open? But this is devious, because depending on your spent amount, the game changes for you, whales play a different game, season pass spenders play a different game and f2p play different games.
The ecosystem itself initially prioritied big budget spenders, immediate hype and high price tags meant those players are in a different money pool, playing against full collection decks and variety of rare and super rare variants, this transitioned to middle spenders and season pass spenders because it is unsustainable to only push high price tags all the time which they did. These spenders are in a different pool where they play against other P2w players with P2w cards, cool variants but not full collection.
F2P are in a different pool, maybe spending gold if you’ve earned enough, not full collection and meta decks being incomplete, I don’t play against full collections or P2w, I prefer this type of playing pool because I’m not bound to being in the ecosystem where I presume the only time you ever win is if your deck is better, your opponent makes a mistake, location don’t mess up your play style or your deck shuffle order allows you to combo, which the shuffle system must count costs and rarity to shuffle the deck in somewhat a playable and sometimes, most times, unplayable to win. It’s easier to engineer a game of chance for the player to lose in this case than a fun game where you depend on if your deck can make the highest point combos it’s weird, the game hasn’t hit mainstream comps as much as other games because if I feel like more than no I’m losing .. and it’s up to chance of the system then .. this game is only for free time.
you’re definitely right. i’ve spent a lot of money on this game and 100% of the time when a new card releases i run into it in my first match. whenever a new bundle releases, i see the variant or profile pic in my next match. whenever a new album releases, i’ll see the emote spammed against me almost immediately. it’s pretty insane how matchmaking seems to be based on how much money you spend 😂 it actually does prevent the game from being pay to win imo because you’re forced to play against everyone else paying to win
I’m free to play, haven’t spent a penny and have played TH-camrs. So idk if people being in different pools is necessarily true. I’m not complaining, just stating my experience.

I m a ftp player since global launch. The big problem i see right now is card acquisition. It s impossible for us to get all the new cards of course, but the latest op cards like corvus, cull, and bird created decks too strong against mine. I see the play coming everytime but there s nothing to do against their points
Player count matters to investors. The game needs f2p players to make wait times shorter when starting a game as well. Most f2p players are potential customers.
i used to collect vinyl records and this game has made me spend so irresponsibly that i had to give up on that habit 😂. telling myself that i’m done spending outside the season pass from now on. the issue is people like me who have extremely poor executive function and impulse control

It's like this with every mobile game they don't treat free to play well. The only reason they need them is advertisement so people play their game and then they tell their friends. But if it was up to them and they could get the advertisement and people would just know about the game, the game would never be free to play in the beginning. It would always be through like a monthly subscription or something
I used to watch bundle analysis, and would actually budget my payday around what i wanted/what was worth it. Now i couldnt bother, its all too much now, they know people will complain about the prices and still buy.
I still wait to buy the season pass to see if itll be too good and nerfed in the future seasons. Rip elsa, loki, hitmonkey, zabu, and the rest of the Spotlight cache cards thar got nerfed hard AFTER POINT OF PURCHASE
It feels like, in taking the step in dropping the price points as suggested, they are compensating by pumping out more low price point bundles. Just my opinion.
I think that's fair assessment and a good opinion/observation. It all just happened so fast where just adding more gold bundles would really balance out the negative feelings of people not wanting to spend money directly on bundles.
I agree that the gold bundles are way way too many all at once. Even people who spend money end up in a spot with FOMO because of how expensive and how many these bundles are coming out. It makes me want to buy LESS
Don't forget the free ton of exposure and advertising this game gets on Twitch. They don't need to pay for advertisement.
Season pass player here to support the game, also very rarely I have gotten a bundle or two from the ones which are 5$ or 10$ but I have most cards since I play since late beta.
The only money i spend is the season pass. I started buying it during elsa bloodstone season and have not missed one since, and i dont feel left behind at all. There was a long gap where i didn't have jeff or iron lad and I had to cheese my way to infinity with feels-bad cards like alioth and galactus and blob and sandman but i never stopped enjoying the game. Definitely would not still be enjoying it if i was f2p. Gotta shell out the ten bucks. I spend more hours on the game than i do on all my paid streaming services combined, so cost per hour it's a relatively dirt cheap subscription. Subbed 🤙

i feel they are moving the free to play rewards to the albums, you spend gold on the variants, get credits, get keys, and tokens, but at a much lower rate and value in a way unless you do like the variants
This is a vary valid point. That stuff could have been added to caches, especially getting an extra/bonus ''key'' to open caches every 200 levels or so. as a bonus for investing your time, instead of those silly Conquest tickets.
I think I talked about Cozy here or somewhere else. I love his videos and content, BUT I feel like he never talk shiat about monetization of the game because he have close relationship with SD, i'm aways feeling like he doesent want to give a real opinion about it.
Im completly lost in the game atm, I play since the release, buy the season pass and small 5-10 dolars bundles sometimes. Even got the gold pass, and now I dont even have how to spend my gold with good deals anymore. Funny part was see a streamer saying SD dont need to release gold bundle deals, we can "aways spend gold with credits" at the shop, its sad.
BTW: The black panther gold bundle is a direct INSULT to my inteligence , time and money.
I was a day one player in the UK and bought the pass every month. I ran a Snap group of 120 people where we met up once a month to play and chat about the game. But people left my group cause the game is all about money now and my group went down from 120 -30 in last 6 months and now we have all deleted the game. Was a great game and now they have ruined it. Also another bad thing is you play the same decks over and over depending on the meta. Once I played 18 discard matchups in a row!!
They should make series drops more consistent as well.

Yes I recently pondered this too. There is only a datalog from Steam you can find on Google but player count appears to be dropping each month- this likely accounts for PC/Steam only obvi , but still
I bought every season pass until this month because i dont want to support their business model. The huge increase in money bundles and the absence of gold bundles that are affordable feels like gouging. I dont want to support that financially
They need to drop all cards to series 4 or 3 so they only cost 3k - 1k tokens
6k tokens is ridiculous as now to get 6k tokens will take months, unlike before
F2p since launch they have definitely made it harder to get gold an cards an varients period I haven't got a varient from a collection reserve in like 400 level
Whales dont like playing with themselves , if the F2P left the game would die , head to head psuedo-competitive 2 player card game needs bodies playing .
To be fair I've never heard anyone criticize f2p players for being f2p. They provide paid players with opponents and give us a reason to keep playing more. Bots would get boring. Also, I'm confident your channel will grow. You have some good takes/insight and present well and articulate your thoughts effectively.

pro tip , whales turn FTP players into paying players , you see dude with cool stuff , you think ohhh maybe i want to buy cool stuff , FTP players keep whales in the game , fast online queues, relevancy , content creation etc , you NEED the masses
Yeah I’ll be interested in this games NEW player acquisition. Sure ftp/whales/season pass players keep the game live but where the new players at?? Unless they keep us here forever they’ll eventually lose the plp playing now. I’m a season pass player this yr, plus gold pass now., but idk man I’m losing interest fast.
F2P definitely need a say. The only problem is most of them just want everything for free.

Missing some cards is not that bad, but missing key pieces for decks thtat hurts the decks you can play.
i literally just got to infinite since day one, constantly getting outpaced, and i think i can pilot most decks fairly well 🤷🏽
