Holy shit, this is one of the most innovative games I’ve ever seen! The soundtrack also rocks 🔥

Fun fact: Many computer OS of the time couldn't do complex division or multiplication so much the code done for this is using just addition and subtraction. From a programming standpoint that is absolutely fucking insane.
Also the DOS and I believe Amiga ports were handled by the guy who made Alone In The Dark, another important 3D milestone.

I used to love playing this during computer lab!
Interestingly, with all the casual relaxation games out right now, a game like this could be released now

omg lol I love all of the precautions they took to make it easier to see and understand 3D movement on a screen, 3D being probably barebones at the time.

Back in time it was. Quite experimental, but likely those experiments that sets the foundation for future development.

My favorite game of all time.
I own the Atari ST version but I dream of getting a copy of the DOS version with its beautiful music, someday soon too.
I hope the modern PC port this game is someday finished. It was started but, was abandoned

Wow, I'm impressed! This game seems really fun, albeit with a weird control scheme, but I'm already used to unconventional control schemes thanks to Bubsy 3D (no joking my absolute favorite game of all time). Speaking of Bubsy 3D, I absolutely adored its surreal minimalistic art-style, it looks so clean! And here there isn't even textures so it looks even cleaner!
In other words, Bubsy 3D is actually a great game and I should try this game out.

    • @Squakenet

This one is particular as you said. About Bubsy 3D, we need to get the hands on a copy of the game and we'll play it and put the video here. Stay tuned!

@@Squakenet Some advice for Bubsy 3D:
      - You can move in any direction while jumping
      - You can shoot atoms with square
      - You can stop Bubsy in mid-air for pin-point precision!
      - you can use a free camera by standing still and holding L1, then using the d-pad
      - Want more speed? Press R1 to start running instantly
      - Jumping gives you more height, but gliding gives you more distance
      - and finally, use L2 and R2 to side-step

Alpha Waves is my favorite game of all time, the music, atmosphere, and non-linear progression are all so memorable to me and I just love playing it in DOSbox. Also I suppose I should check out Bubsy 3d if I like this game so much haha

@@auralunaprettycure Bubsy 3D is actually really good (unlike everyone says). It uses tank controls but they are tight and precise (unlike what the reviews say) and is really creative when it comes to levels and stuff (unlike what the reviews say, notice a pattern?). I'd say it's a must-try for the PS1.

+Carlos Jurschik aaand actually you don't have to change the machine type. You can leave it to svga_s3. It's just the vsync, that by default it's set to 75 when your monitors nowadays are usually stuck with 60
