I saw her as Audrey in Little Shop and… whew. I’ve never had such a strong feeling of witnessing the origin story of a future legend. Her acting is even better than her vocals, if you can believe that. And then I saw her in I Can Get it for You Wholesale and learned she started as a dancer?? Truly a generational talent. I’m so excited to see her in Gypsy.
This is such fabulous news! Kudos to you, young sir. I also echo the comment about getting to say we are those who watched your videos BEFORE you got the Tony!
congratulations !!! love your thoughts on music theory and theater and your original work is fantastic too !! can’t wait to see what you continue to make :D
9:19 a simpler thing to call that chord is just thirdless E over Bb. 10:35 It does actually makes perfect sense. You said it yourself "every note leads to the next chord in a satisfying way." 11:45 - that's a good chord!! I wouldn't say it's wonky - all the notes are what i call A's bright notes, in that they support A as the root, yes, right up to the 11(Eb). I guess you could call it the chord an A lydian. And then moving to Bb is really strong voice leading, sounds soo good. 17:09 - you could just say you're in Cm/Eb major (Cm - dorian, Eb Lydian) A actually does harmonically support the key of Eb, but is is the weakest/most pensive note you could put in those chords because it's right on the border between being "in the harmonic space" and being "outside the harmonic space." Huge congratulations to you, man. This is really cool stuff I'm excited to follow your stuff in the future !
We'll be able to say, "I was watching his videos long before he won a Tony"! We'll deserved acceptance. Congrats!
