Frank didn't just lose his wife and son... he lost his entire extended family. Saints and company got exactly what they deserved. The only shame was that he couldn't kill them twice.

In the extended cut of the film, there’s an extra scene that after Frank kills a killer Harry Heck on a street, Frank became very suspicious of Jimmy Weeks that Jimmy may have something to do the murder of Frank Castle’s entire family.

I just noticed that the guy with the light blonde hair who murdered Frank’s dad is the same guy that Frank brutally murders at the end of the movie where he stabs him in the hand and then slits his throat against the wall. That kill always felt more personal. So cool to see such little details!

Thomas Jane was amazing in this. It had an awesome cast. This really needed a part 2.
There was a part 2 kind of but they casted a different actor. The movie bombed. It wasn't a sequel but a reboot.

A well deserved ride if you ask me! Howard originally was like take Castle out but she wanted his ENTIRE family gone too and of course he’ll do what his beloved wife wishes. She’s goddamn a monster.

Imagine losing your ENTIRE family
I saw this in a theatre in Vancouver in Spring 2004. Jason Statham and a companion were sitting a few rows infront of me, he was in the city filming one of the Transporter movies. Half way through the movie they got up and left 😂
There were way more people there than the ones we see killed, either they were killed off screen or some survived. Either way Castle makes a good point later when he shows up and asks why no one has been arrested, a massacre like this (unlike just his wife and son getting killed like in the series or comics) would make national news and there would a lot of public and political pressure to investigate that not even Saint could Quell, and last I checked only his friend was the one who betrayed him, the rest of the FBI would be determined to find out who did this.
iirc this happens in Puerto Rico, since it's a territory and not a state that would explain the lack of investigation

that was the point. he had lost so much faith in the justice system that couldnt even help him out despite him having worked for them, that he ended up taking matters into his own hands and decided to do so for the rest of his life. this movie actually showed us exactly why he would do such a thing instead of going for the "he just enjoys killing people and just needed a reason to" angle

When I watched The Punisher (2004) for the first time, I wondered what his Family did to deserve that. That was a good movie though.
The mob boss held Frank Castle responsible for the death of his son so he wanted revenge!
Worst part is that it was the mob boss's wife who said to kill the ENTIRE family.

I love how there’s no over the top background music playing.. I feel as if the silence makes this scene even more brutal being that we just hear screams/gunshots. This movie is so underrated one of my favorites Thomas Jane should’ve definitely came back as The Punisher.
Way to distort perception, like gunshots are in fact ppl's screams and vice versa...
But my main point is, with Thom Jane, I like "Molly", co-starring Elizabeth Shue (she's so pretty I think) and Aaron Eckhart.

I honestly think Frank could’ve catch up and stop the thugs from killing the rest of his family quickly since the thugs on the red van got trampled twice by Frank’s wife and son. You know, Frank was like 20 seconds away from them and a motorcycle is quite more fast than the big vehicles.

I was 11 when I saw this scene in the theater. The most traumatizing movie scenes in my movie history, because it was just pure realistic. Marvel did for me in the early 2000s.

Just a couple of days ago , I watched Punisher Warzone again , and went through youtube and just started watching clips on this one warzone and from the epic netflix series , then I stumbled on Thomas Jane reprising The Punisher in a little short film he and Ron pearlman did called "Dirty Laundry" , that shit was awesome, I love the atmosphere , the action, the acting and good ol over the top violence. Thomas jane should make another one.
Is that the one that takes place entirely in the laundromat??? Kidding... Is it???
Anyways, my main point is, I've never seen that one, got to check it out one day, thanks. Dropped a like.
P. S. "Molly" with Thom have, I like that one, but I do admit it's largely in part because I think Elizabeth Shue is so pretty. No offense to miss Shue.

I don't care about the actors themselves or how they feel but, about their styles.
Honestly, Bernthal's Punisher feels reckless while he is a good improviser but with high endurance and a fighting style with more head-on faceoffs, in which he will be most of the times somewhat loud but he will always have the advantage because of his skill level.
Jane's Punisher, in contrast, feels more like a tactician analyst but not so durable nor is he as strong, if he gets in trouble most of the times he'll be able to overcome it but just barely, and he isn't entirely able to face off against his enemies because everyone is dangerous, he's just a normal human after all.
Just my opinion.
Imagine walking into this movie for the first time not knowing that Frank's wife and son would die I felt bad cause I thought for a while they would somehow escape
My only problem with this scene is that Frank went for a double barrel shotgun instead of the .45. I’m going to assume that his dad had some kind of combat experience also. Wouldn’t the handguns have been more effective against multiple guys with machine guns? Not to mention maybe picking up their weapons after the few he killed and/or incapacitated?
It’s a movie. They probably grabbed the easiest weapon to load if we’re being realistic.
Maybe they didn’t keep magazines loaded or something. Frank probably didn’t trust the dead guys weapons.

@@colossalclaymore7848 that’s not what a nail driver is. I’m assuming Roy Schieder meant to say “tack drivers” which implies they are extremely accurate. Implying they shoot so straight that they could be used to drive a nail into a board in one shot.

I always skip this scene because I feel bad for helpless mother and child running from the terrorist psychopaths. I know this scene was mentioned for The Punisher's good reason to kill them all. They did a good job to make this scene feel so real.

Perspective
How many naiveties in this film ! The third law of physics say : "to every action there is an equal but opposite reaction". Therefore it is impossible for a human body to be thrown forward when hit by a bullet, but it will always fall forward. Against the laws of physics, you cannot go there !!! 👍
As much as I loved this movie the acting was inconsistent throughout, especially from Travolta and even Thomas Jane before he became punisher...
Almost seems like if Frank and his dad had ARs or similar rifles with 30+ round magazines that he may have saved the majority of his family.....

Those bad guys hanging on the back of the red pickup truck when they were chasing the wife and son...NO way in hell would they have been able to hold on while off roading that fast with that many jumps and turns. Let alone doing it while holding, aiming and shooting guns.

I was horrified by this seen when I saw it as a kid.

This was not The Punisher. Not even close to the comics. It was a very solid action movie though. The Russian and Harry Hecks were brilliant.

@@TheStapleGunKid Hollywood has a habit of romanticizing pistols. Theres a reason why officers are taught to dump a magazine on one target in order to neutralize the threat. The father also has a shotgun so together they have 4 in the chambers and a box of shells.
@@zacharyshoemaker835 That's still not much when you are fighting roughly 6-8 guys armed with rapid-fire, high capacity weapons. Now if there was a proper pump action shotgun or semi-auto rifle for Frank to use, I'd say sure, go for that. But a 2-shot shotgun? Really? The limited capacity and slow reload speed makes it less effective then the pistols in the case for that situation.
@@TheStapleGunKid Im not saying that that arnt in a difficult situation. Im just saying that theyd be in a much worse situation grabbing the side arms as opposed to those shotguns. Im sure reloading a 1911 would be faster than reloading a double barrell but what are the chances that they have preloaded magazines on hand if they had to load the shotguns once they grabbed them? As soon as Frank loaded the shotgun he had to use it if he grabbed a 1911 he wouldnt be in position to fire.

Such an iconic film, thats extremely underrated. With an amazing Cast, Storyline, Soundtrack, and messages I still have no clue why this gets so much hate, but all I know this is extremely under-rated and deserves so much more credit. An intense and comedic film, thats really worth watching. Legendary! ""Si vis pacem, para bellum - If you want peace, prepare for war."

really bad scene. Bad idea, stupid accents on action, the lack of the necessary drama and cruelty to create motivation for the Frank.
