As a Muslim, I feel mad at Taliban for destroying Zablon's Torah and forced him to convert into Islam. It just gives bad image to us. I feel bad for him,I understand the feeling when someone tried to block you from your religion. Even in Islam, we have been taught that you can't forced people to convert. If they want it,fine but if they don't want it, it's okay. The one who decide your life is yourself.
I'm glad that Zablon is proud to be an Afghani and Jews at the same time

I'm from USA. The number of Americans who do not identify with any religion continues to grow at a rapid pace. In The Pew Research Center study conducted in 2018 and 2019, only 65% of American adults describe themselves as "Christian" when asked about their religion, a decrease of 12 percentage points over the past decade. Meanwhile, the "religiously unaffiliated" share of the population, consisting of people who describe their religious identity as atheist, agnostic or “nothing in particular,” is now 26%, up from 17% in 2009.

Wow! I didn’t know until I watched this video that Mike Hanopol is a Jew and an orthodox at that!! I was actually waiting for you to mention the most inspiring part of Philippine history about former Pres. Manuel Quezon’s goodwill act of allowing Jewish asylum seekers during the WW1, when no country would take them. The Philippines willingly embraced them, and they in turn made the city where they stayed (in Samar-Leyte) a better place by teaching the locals some technological skills.

Knowing how impressive Ethiopian culture has been for thousands of years, I wasn't surprised. These are not some backwards people in a poverty-stricken region. This is an old high culture in the subtropical climate of a highland in the tropics. Christian for a few decades longer than the Roman Empire, Ethiopians are self-confident enough to still be using a different calendar, with a different date for New Year and based on a different theory of when Jesus was born resulting in an offset of 7 to 8 years.
Here is what I found when I looked up the status of English in Ethiopia:
Under Emperor Haile Selassie, the language of instruction in schools was Amharic. This is now being changed to the numerous local languages because that improves learning outcomes. I guess that this means Amharic is typically becoming the first foreign language, except for native Amharic speakers. But the language of instruction in universities is English, and apparently parents are putting pressure on schools to teach in English as well!

Drew: Zablon IS in my heart and in my prayers! I respect him so much.
I was JUST wondering about these 'things' yesterday and wow, "accidentally" found this! So...I am American just figuring all this stuff out and wow, been 'christian' all my life. I feel so cheated cause the Jewish history is beyond Beautiful. I study this day and night; I get up in the middle of the night to study. I can't get enough and was so excited to see this. Wow. Tears.
I had to edit: I started reading Jewish history in 1974 when I was just 10. In did not understand why I felt so connected until recently. In American churches (in my area), there is a bizarre disconnect between Christians and Jews. I've made it my mission to educate people about my studies of the Jewish peoples and my discoveries regarding their history. Sorry for the extended comment but after studying the 12 tribes, I am super intrigued about the Jewish diversity. Safe travels and God bless.

I was raised christian as a kid, and that's what I guess i would identify with the most. These days as an adult I'm not really active or go to church or pray or anything, but the core teachings and such that i got out of christianity still affect me a lot.
Love for your fellow brothers and sisters. Doing to others what you would like be done to you too, being forgiving and generous without asking for anything in return.
Even if you're not christian, you gotta admit that Jesus was a pretty cool guy for his time. A man spreading a message of forgiveness, love, and peace without ever asking for anything in return.
And then getting executed as an innocent man for doing nothing wrong. Inspirational stuff.

    • @theowl2134

yea but those of us who are not christian reject that Jesus ever existed anything more than maybe a Jewish Rabbi who preached. Yehoshu3 (Hebrew) Yeshu3(aramaic) Joshua(English) Yesus(Greek, that would later become Jesus in english) was a VERY common Jewish name.

I find it pretty interesting, that jews are just 2% of the world population (Im also a jew) and they are everywhere in the world. Jews lived thousends of years without a city or something like that and we still exict. There are very few culture or religions that survived conditions like this. We were hounted in so much time periods, but here we are. I really hope someday there will be a world where everyone respect each other religion.
