Damn Brother you're budget genius lot of these damn fools spend 7k on Ls swap like damn dude you could've buy great vehicle with LS already in it for that amount, Anyways great channel good content .
Can you keep the bottom end bone stock and reuse the same old bearings even with some wear but good shape wear for 200,000 miles? I have a 2003 6.0 LQ4 with 200,000miles . My plan is to keep it stock except I would like to do a basic overhaul and just do a complete gasket change top to bottom to seal everything up like new. Inspect the bearings and reuse the old bearings if they look to be in normal good shape. Keep the same factory bolts for rods and main. And MAYBE upgrade the rings to something better for a boosted engine thats going to see 15psi??????? I dont know, what you think about the rings? Can factory handle that kind of boost even after regap properly??? Or should I upgrade the rings?? I want to hone the bores to clean it up and hopefully improve the seal with a new setup in that area. Also reuse the factory pistons at 15psi??? The heads will be cleaned up to improve flow and thats it. Nothing crazy. And a upgrade in cam to match up the boost. Can the factory roller lifters be reused or should i get the lifters? How about rockers? I want to stay cheap as possible but also improve durability and hopefully 600hp-700hp and 7000rpms? Or 6500rpms?
Did you have your engine's interior balanced ? I ask because you used pistons and rods with an unfamiliar crankshaft. I might have to do the same thing, but am a little leery on account of me having zero experience. I removed and replaced/ installed my exhaust system, all steering and suspension components recently. I also an half way through a full paint job. It's been more than overwhelming as well as scary, but something I feel better about myself for doing. My engine is on a stand i found in my dad's garage. He passed about 3 years ago and left me this garage i find myself in every day. I've been using his and my grandpa's mechanic tools, all of which I never held before this experience. I should of asked him questions or at least learned from him while he was around. Im stuck at the rotating assembly and would appreciate knowing if you had it balanced, and how it's performed. Before this project the only work I did on any vehicle was basically change the oil and transmission pan. Thank you
No need to balance the stock rotating assembly. Even swapping gen4 pistons/rods onto a gen3 crank would. Not require a balance. Usually if you are buying a set and building the rotating assbly it will need to be balanced, but you would have that recommendation with the parts you buy. Stock stuff is balanced from the factory.
Bad Luck Garage Not sure if you watched to the end but I gave your channel a mention and said you were able to do it a bit cheaper... Hope you don't mind.
No brother that’s awesome. Thanks!👍🏻 I’ll be honest, I was at dentist office when I was watching and just wondered how close our builds were in price to each other so I stopped right after you said the price and commented. Then right after that I got called back and just haven’t finished it yet. 😂👍🏻
@@BlaserBuilds was just wondering the same.what would be a cheapish but decent bov?thank you so much,by the way ive been following the build for a long time now..
Are you ever going to get back into car audio? I remember the days of the 8 sundown 15s and the 16 18s etc. I was a big fan of your builds. I really think tunnels are under-utilized in badass groundpounder installs nowadays. I think the only problem would be that they would peak too low to be useable. I modelled one up in my car (81 malibu wagon) and it worked out to around 75 cubic feet if I remember correctly. Was planning to do a diamond tunnel with 12" 18s and the tuning worked out to be tuned to 19 hz on paper.. Of course it may have worked out differently in the real world..I havent built it so who knows but Id hate to spend hundreds of hours building and have it peak so low that it just breaks my whole interior and wont be useable for any regular songs. Anywho, lol. Bottom line....miss your old builds. But just so happens Im building another malibu wagon with a single turbo LS....budget oriented but not quiet as tight a budget as yours. But still cheap comparitively speaking. Most of the money will be into the 4L80e and single disc lockup converter. And the BW s480 which was more than a chinese knock off but still VERY reasonable considering what its capable of. No motor yet, hoping to ideally find an LQ4...but I like the idea of a tiny little 4.8L also in such a big car...even though that s480 would be a bit much for it. I also have some nitrous that I may toss at it aswell. Its a street car but Id really like for the street car to go 9.99. Infact my original goal was to go 9.99 for under $9,999 total including the car. On pump gas with street manners. Its certainly doable in my opinion, the pricey 4L80e might put it over the top, but I think I can do it.
Vanilla Gorilla I got my 80e for $550... But I see them a lot for cheaper than that... I'll probably do an audio build again. My diamond peaked at 51hz. Ports were tuned low but port was high to keep the bandwidth. You can definitely go 9.99 for under 10k.
Are you able to tune it though a stock computer, or did you have to get a tuner? How much power could you get away with if you can tune without a programmer

It also has 88k miles and its clean af, unfortunately for speed and acceleration it's a extended cab long bed with a 5th wheel hitch so it ain't light but if I had around 500-550 wheel hp I'd be incredibly happy
Thank you for hitting the price first then the break down!!! Great video watched the whole thing 👍🏻
The best part about an LS Swap is the hurt feelings when I lift the hood of my old Ford.
I don't support manufacturer, they don't pay us royalties. Its like fighting for no reason.

I know I am kind of off topic but does anybody know of a good place to stream newly released movies online ?
@Edgar Andres try FlixZone. You can find it on google :)
@Edgar Andres i would suggest Flixzone. Just google for it :)

What about the vacuum line for the brake booster the pressure won't blow into their and what size viven you used for the turbo Outlet
Did you have to change injectors? I cant imagine stock lq4 injectors being able to support a turbo, they typically are maxed with just a hot tune...
How much do you have in the hp tuner and is it user friendly?
Good stuff. You spent almost exactly the same as I did on the turbo set up. 👍🏻

Both you guys are awesome. I've been watching both your channels and I'm looking forward to doing my swap on my 2000 ranger very soon
Did you have to get a speed density sensor as well or just eliminate the stock maf and run a 2 bar map?
Just runs map sensor
Are you going to take the truck back to the dyno again now?
What did you use to tune the computer? HP tuners? Take it to a local tuner?
Great video...but question are you running a blow off valve...?
I am now, but I wasn't untill I turned it up to 12+psi... It started blowing couplers after a hard pull when throttle closed.

Did you tig weld the pipe to the stock passenger manifold for the log?? That what I'm stuck on right now on my set up
What are your before and after numbers on the dyno
Curious as to how fuel pressure can compensate for boost with that filter/regulator?
I would like to run 2 small twin turbos on a 5.3ls can you recommend a good turbo thanks
Something like vs racing 62/62, or borg s366s are great for that size engine.
Psi turbo ? Ecu oem?
Im curious what u did for powersteering? Do u have a video on this?
The factory line threaded right into pump.

No maf. Speed density, MAP sensor only.

Worked well. I have had some of the cheap one blow out though. I usually use the EFI source, or "Brick" style 3 bar.

Hptuners
What did you use to program the computer to work with the turbo?
HPTuners.

How's the eBay turbo hold up?
It did very well. I ended up getting a bigger turbo now, but I still have the other one, and still works great.
what kinda power is that thing making?
@@aliceshaw8265 Its in the 550 range. It went 11.2 at 121 at 3900lbs with pretty high converter loss. 20-30%
