Late Happy Birthday Aleks! I celebrate my birthday by attending a local Native American Pow Wow. Their sacred ring is back in the woods near a small lake and the atmosphere, dancing, drums, and songs make it feel like the time before Europeans came to this continent. It reminds me of my childhood playing in a woods near my home and pretending to be an Indian Chief. Sometimes I pretended to be a cowboy too.
Happy Happy 31st Birthday Aleks!! 🥳 I spent my 39th birthday on a plane flying to Brussels, Belgium to live for several years… then we celebrated my 40th bday in Egypt. Both terrific birthdays that I’ll never forget!
Happy birthday!! I do something different for my birthday every year. This year I went out to a lovely restaurant on a Lake. No boating though 😕. I’m so happy to see you, celebrating and being celebrated!🎉🎉🎈🎈🎂🎂🏳️🌈

My favorite birthday was my 40th, June 3, 1990 and I spent it in Berlin. The Berlin wall had been opened to free passage for all Germans in November, 1989 but was still closed to everyone else. I was visiting the famous Brandenburg Gate and accidentally got pushed into East Berlin past the guards through an open fence in the middle of a very large, boisterous crowd of people. I walked around East Berlin for a few hours visiting museums and eating at a cafe. When I tried to go back to West Berlin through the same way and showed my American passport the East German border guards said "Nein", I had to go to Check Point Charlie for Americans. I walked several miles to find Check Point Charlie and worried the whole way what the guards would think since I didn't have an East Berlin entry stamp on my passport. I thought I might spend my birthday in jail. I did have to sit and wait alone for about 30 minutes in their very sterile, cold hallway but they cleared me to enter back into West Berlin. Check Point Charlie was deactivated and removed about one month later. Now that I'm 73 I don't celebrate birthdays anymore. Everyday is a birthday.

The birthday cake looked delicicious. 🌞 This year I celebrated my birthday twice, with family on the day of my birth (it was within a week, most family members are already retired) and with friends some days later on a weekend (they aren't retired and have to work within the week). You ask how we spent our birthdays. I spent mine on the island St Maarten in the Caribbean. I just happened to be there during my birthday. I had a rental car and toured the island with my friend. Then we went for seafood in the evening at Skip Jack's which is a seafood restaurant overlooking a lagoon. Many ppl there. Popular restaurant. Great food!!
