...... I LOVE YOU MAN! .... I have been searching EVERYWHERE on how to get my analog mixer into my Samsung Note 10 plus. EVERYTHING I have tried beforehand has failed. Ive even tried the Samsung OTG dongle trick. Didn't work. I know your video was about mixer➡️ 2i2 ➡️ computer, But I tried it anyway. This is the only thing that has worked! I just tried it with Samsung voice memo... works perfectly! Facebook live... works perfectly! Samsung stock video app...works perfectly! Haven't tried TH-cam YET, but I'm sure it will be the same. I just used it for recording voice-overs for 6 radio station liners. Luckily, I bought too many balanced cables on amazon for my electronic drum kit, so I just put them to good use! You're definitely my hero today. Thanks again!❤
My setup is super weird but really kinda unavoidable with how picky I am. I wanted absolute control without having to use software. With two computers, one Xbox Series X and a Nintendo Switch, it was kinda tricky to achieve sending all the sound to the same place. My solution was buying a MG10XU. It worked flawlessly by its self until I decided I wanted to get away from usb mics. I have all of my devices plugged into my mixer or my monitors since some doesn’t have headphone ports. As long as the sound can go through hdmi it’ll go straight from my monitor to my mixer. So when I decided it was time to upgrade from my blue yeti to a XLR mic I realized that my whole mix would also get fed into my party chat along with my voice (for live streaming this works). So to separate both sources and still keep the level of control I desired, I decided to buy a 2i2 because it has line out and 48v phantom power (which I needed). So now my Shure SM7B runs through my 2i2 to my cl1 amp and rolls mute switch and the audio gets fed into my gaming computer for my voice chat and in game comms. That audio also gets fed out through the line out to channel 1 on my mixer which then feeds into my streaming computer. This way while streaming I can turn down or up anything without needing to adjust anything through software or affecting my party audio. Also for anyone in a similar situation you can split your audio by plugging in your mixer to your computer and monitor. Send whatever you want to split to the opposite device. So my game sound goes through my monitor which gives it its own knob and my party audio goes through my computer which also has its own knob on my mixer.
4:00 If I will be using the Aux send to have my own custom mix, how will I connect it to the audio interface ? Thank you very much for the informative video
You probably already have this figured out by now, but in case you haven't. Just use a balanced cable from the aux send to the right input port on the front of the scarlet 2i2
Hey Jordan, very simply explained.. loved it...I have a scarlet Solo and a mixer that doesn't have a USB output, can I use this combination for two Microphone inputs and two headphone outputs?
I hooked up a Scarlett 2i2 3rd gen to mixer via Aux send except I had audio split and go to both left and right channels for stereo sound for the videos I'm using in conjunction with this. Thanks so much for this video, it worked well for me. Now I'm curious if I should get 4th gen or just stick with the 3rd gen. 3rd gen sounds great so unsure if 4th gen is even worth it. Thanks again!
So where would studio speakers go connected to? Would they connect to the usb interface? Or can the other stereo out ports be used to hook up the studio speakers while trs from mixer to trs interface is hooked up?
My mixer has only xlr type outputs no line outputs like you use ( soundcraft soundpad 12 fx) then will i ll use xlr cables to connect to audio interface or do i need converter adapters ( from xlr female to line male jack) thanx
Hi Jordan I don't suppose you plan on doing a TRS vs TS cable video any time in the future? There seems to be so much conflicting information around. Some people making it really complex and some perhaps explaining incorrectly. I enjoy your no nonsense style so I'm curious to hear your view on it and whether you think it is particularly an issue or not in the home. If I were plugging a device with balanced outputs into the line-ins of the Yamaha MG10, would I be okay to use TS cable seeing as the Yamaha line-ins are unbalanced? I've also read about there being a difference in gain between TRS and TS.
Thank you for very helpful video! What type of cable is used to connect from the mixer to the Scarlett, Sir? What is the brand name of mixer in your video, Sir? Thank you so much!
Great video! Just a question....I got the new 2i2 4th gen. It has 2 xlr imputs on the rear and 2 quarter inch inputs on the front. In which inputs should I connect the mixer to the 2i2?
Thanks, Can I take the output from the focusrite back into the mixer , I'm using it with Zoom for a large meeting room so need to hear in the hall and transmit in zoom, will there be a risk of feedback. I was think about using the control room outputs into the focusrite
Hi I’m trying to run this to an audio mixer to an audio interface via the left and right mono inputs for stereo but I don’t know where on the mixer they are. The ones on the front seem to only refer the auxiliary and the fx inputs but no the main left and right so I can record in stereo as per your demo as I don’t want to do anything more complicated. I have the Behringer XENYX 1204 usb interface Many thanks
First question, does this work with a wireless mic? Second question, would I still need to download an app on my laptop or I can just pick the sound with a regular audio cable for my livestream?
Question: I have the 212 scarlett for live streaming. However i want to use it for live gigs. The two 1/4 jack balanced stereo speaker outputs on the back i send to the balanced stereo inputs of my amp and then from the amp my speakers… it works very well… however it only works when Direct Monitor is enabled on the Focusrite. When i switch off direct monitor i get no sound out of the amp. My Question is - Are the two 1/4 jack focusrite outputs only intended to work when in monitor on use only? When & how can i use without it switched on? Thanks in advance.
Very nice videos, I am your fan. Question, For Live Facebook Stream video which camera can you use, and were to hook it up. Thank you for your support.
Hello! very useful video, thank you. I would have a question : I need to record my voice (going in XLR into the mixer) with some effects given by the table. It's a mic like yours that needs the "fantom" on. There aren't any other instruments on the table, just gotta record my voice on the instrumental The other musicians of my band already did. What's best to do with a fantom mic (+effects) only: is it better to go into Scarlett 2i2 in MONO or in STEREO ? (does it do a difference, since the mic is a MONO at its source ?)
Thank you so much for your videos! I have a question about getting sound from the mixer to the computer. I only have one USB 2.0 slot available on the computer, and I need to plug in both a mouse/keyboard combo and the mixer audio. Would you recommend using a USB hub to achieve this, or taking the mixer audio through the 3.5mm in? The mixer does have the USB card output. I'm just trying to figure out the simplest method with the best quality audio. This is going into a livestream using VMix, with VMix putting the audio and video together, if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance!
Nice video it was exactly what I was looking for. So after you connect the mixer into the Scarlett interest, how can I connect a pa speaker to the mixer after you connect the mixer to the interface
You can still connect the PA speakers to the XLR outputs. If you're doing this, I would recommend connecting to the Scarlett using the Aux Output so you can control the mix separately from the stereo output.
I have a question for you are usually connect my Scarlet to lie to to my main out on my mixer is there another way to do that without cutting the sound to my main speakers is there another type of output in my mixer let me know
You have several other outputs. The monitor output for one. Just send signal. If you send power to a signal .....consider it baked, you will smell it. Scotty walker untamed
Amazing vid! That being said, I am recording my band live through a powered mixer w/ E drums [we all wear headphones w/ the mix coming from the board], signal is sent to an interface [just bought the focusrite 2i2 gen 4]. My mixer has 2 rca plugs out, I am using a 2 rca to a 1/4 inch stereo cable and sending this signal to 1 line input. Would it sound better to get 2 separate rca to 1/4 inch mono cables and send them to line 1 and line 2 input? Or would I use 2 separate rca to 1/4 inch stereo cables? Again great vid and not often discussed! Also, I am going to experiment with the air vs air 2 features and no air and will let you know the results! Much love from Upstate NY! Oh, I am currently using Audacity as my DAW is the Ableton lite that comes with the focusrite better?
If your mixer has the ports, I'd use an aux send to send your mix to the 2i2 via balanced cable. I actually use 1/4 TRS for aux send and then have it split into 2 1/4 for 1 and 2 ports for stereo. I use a 3rd gen 2i2 however, the sound may be a little better in the 4th gen to where you don't need to split between both 1 and 2. If you have the cables try it both ways to see which is best.
THANKS FOR THE VIDEO ! ONE QUESTION: ITS BETTER TO MAKE AN STEREO INPUT TO SCARLET OR ITS WITH MONO OKEY? BECAUSE I HAVE XLR MIKROFON AND MY MIC´XER DONT HAVE THE XLR IN! THANKS
Loved the vid, what I was looking for. Will it work with (what I will guess is) unbalanded TRS cable? I noticed that the Trs cable I bought only have on ring on it. Does it makes a difference?
QUESTION: I have an older Yamaha Stagepass Mixer (no usb connection) so if I run the speaker out cables to my Scarlet gen 4 line in - am I able to put some volume up on the mixer or is it too much power and needs to be very low??? (I don't think I have those other controls you mentioned. I only have a main volume and a mic volume). The reason I ask this is - trying my SM58 mic straight into the Scarlett 2i2 4th gen it is so very low that I barely hear it even with volume all the way up (whether through headphones and/or through monitor speakers)? Please help????????????????
Very nice videos! Q: I’m trying to use this same mixer for performing on zoom plugging in 2 mics, guitar , bass + a drum track.... any advantage using my Scarlett here? Or should the usb output to my laptop be ideal?
i was wondering the same thing !! I bought the yamaha for this reason, it is a mixer and interface all in one that I use with my Surface Pro or iMac..or is it the USB C connectivity of the Scarlett that is what people want/need/prefer for a phone or an iPad maybe? .
For dual pc would this work? Goxlr mini on game pc, so i can appropriately use all my faders, and send all my audio to my stream pc fine in one mix(over capture cards hdmi) but i want to separate mic audio from game. So could I route/send mic to line out of goxlr routing table and then aux that to focusrite line in and connect it to my laptop and add that as a separate audio source from my stream mix? That way i can add separate filters.
How do you set it up for recording a gig for live performance? The signals from their mixer if you don't have your own, will go to the Scarlett inputs out to the DAW?
Thanks for your video.I am using the same method, RCF M18 digital mixer with focusrite scarlet 2i2 3rd gen.and “Pro tools first” DAW, recorded sounds very clean, but I feel audio level bit lower, any solution to increase the level and avoid clipping?
Wow! This really helped me with my issues! I have a Mackie 16-channel soundboard and I’m trying to plug it in to my scarlet 2i2 interface. This helped clear out the basis. I’m also settled with the Logic Pro to record using both. Thanks again! Does anyone know what are the best XLR TRS balanced cables in the market? Some of them are very expensive and I’m trying to get a hold of the gold ones. Ps. Thanks once again! I just subscribed. 🙌🏼👍🏼💯
I wouldn't waste your time spaffing the extra for gold connectors if you didn't already? There is no evidence to support a better signal. It's more cosmetic.
Hey Jordan, I’m running a poker livestream with Shure lav mics running into a Yamaha audio mixer. I also have commentators on a separate audio mixer. For some reason when I connect the Yamaha board to the computer via usb, the sound from the lav mics seem to create problems. However when I connect via quarter inch to computer line it seems to be better. But still not perfect. A friend of mine produces a similar livestream and suggested I use the Focusrite so I bought one. I’m having such insane audio issues and could use some help. My set up is not common. The poker table which the players are mics are connected to the Yamaha audio mixer which is output to the poker software which is then connected to vmix. This audio (and stream) is delayed 10min and then output to vmix. As you can see this if very unusual. Was wondering if there was someone that I could speak with to help trouble shoot. Will the Focusrite help with these problems or am I just wasting money? Thank you! @sociallywild
good afternonn jordan, or anyone that may help with this little issue I am having. so, this is what i am facing. I have a mackie profx10v3 which hooks up to the pc via usb. I also have a scarlet 2i2 but, in this case it is not hooked up. I did hook up the mixer according to the video as in option #2 and completey not using the 2i2. I also have some JBL MKII 305P hooked up to the mixers main out via trs. also my mic is on channel 2 via xlr. everything seems to be working as it should however, whenever, I unmute the mic, it goes through the speakers as well all desktop sounds( which is what I was trying to accomplish . howeever with this setup, when i unmute the mic, it goes through the speakers as well . Is there a way to not have the mic go through the speakers TIA
Hi can I still use my 6i6 Interface with Yamaha MG 10xU.and how can I connected. My Triton Le keyboard to the Interface are the mixer. Thank You so much
Hey! We are using this same set up, but we are using it plugged into a mevo boast. The only way we are getting sound to come through is with the instrument button on. Do you know why it isn’t working with the instrument light on?
Hi mn so I did the same thing but mine is getting the outside voice like when I’m talking without the mic I can still hear myself I don’t know if it’s my faulty I’m using Mackie 3204VLZ4 32-Channel USB Mixer to scarlet focuscrite 18i8 3 gen I need your assistance please
I want to use a Y cable to go from the 2 outputs of the mixer to one input on my audio interface. Is there a problem with doing this? I'm using the mixer for 3 rack toms, they don't need to be stereo. The interface is a Behringer umc1820
Hi wishing to change / upgrade to focusrite 212 Scarlett how do l connect laptop / interface / mixer as it’s a little different than what l normal do connection wise with interface l am using this is for live stage vocals ??? any help would be great cheers .
Thanks for the tutorial. My mixer has built in usb but I could not get it to work with zoom app. I manage to get it working with Scarlett 2i2, which results in awesome sound. Routing from mixer to Scarlett and from Scarlett back to mixer. Mic plugged in mixer with playback youtube karaoke songs sound big. So Scarlet definitely has superior sound over external usb sound card going to mixer. Recording karaoke session through zoom just confirms how good the sound is. Instead of the mains out, I had to use Aux Out as mentionned whch leads me to use this path. It turns out as a pleasant experience as I strive for days getting the built in usb to work with zoom and end up giving up til I stumble on your channel.
I been spending weeks trying to livestream to Facebook but now am frustrated. I been using Ecamm to to Scarlet2i2 them to IMac and finally got it to work but sounds like echo.
hello mate, you have an informative video. can i ask if you ever have tried to connect the scarlett solo usb audio interface to yamaha mg10xu audio mixer? could you pls help me, looking forward and thanks in advance:)
Hey! I have been watching your videos on youtube over the years but I have a confusion. I have a Scarlett solo that I connected to my MGX10 mixer and I am using logic pro for my midi keyboard. But now I wanted to know how I can live stream on Instagram or Facebook using my iPhone but I don't know how I will connect all those stuff to get my sound from the mixer or Scarlett solo
I recently got a Mackie Mix8 mixer, but whenever I route it directly into my line in/mic inputs, I get either horrible buzzing or my microphone isn't picking up (after testing the channel by turning all gain and eq control knobs, with no sound anyway). I've read online that this is probably because my computer's sound card isn't powerful enough to handle running the mixer through line in. Do you think using the Scarlett 2i2 would solve my problem as a sound card work around? Thank you!
@@kettnercreative thank you for the quick response, i was pulling my hair out over my mixer that i COULD NOT get to work. the scarlett 2i2 is on the way now, keep up the awesome work!
@@kettnercreative I’m using the setup described in your video for the audio. I use a camera connected to the computer for the video. The audio and the video are out of sync. Is it the best solution to input the audio this way. I read that it would be better to connect the audio directly to the camera to avoid that.
So, What about the output from the computer? It passes through the usb cable, but then how to get the signal to the monitors plugged to my amplifier (plugged to the mixer)?
I m trying to get a signal out of my scarlett 10i20 thru my mackie profx12 the two out from the mackie work fine but channel three on the scarlett no signal . can you advise?
Hey, I'm looking for help. I have a Scarlett 2i2 and I have it connected directly to my Ipad 8 gen (lighting cable) We are recording for a pod cast but want to add a 3rd mic is there a way to connect the Scarlett 2i2 into a mixer that allows 4 mic channels to record on separate tracks? We are using GarageBand Any and all help would be appreciated
So I’m not sure I understood you right. We’re you saying if you did this you couldn’t create multiple tracks in logic and record say guitar on one channel, vocals on one, keys on one ect. Also I have a boss to 202 what would be the best way to hook that up with this configuration?
@@pr.josuevargas7295 Ahh, I would just connect the MG10XU to the Computer directly. That being said, the Audient iD4 does have line inputs so you can do something similar to this video if you wish.

Hi! May I ask, with your setup like that, can I also connect two speaker to the mixer so I can hear my recording and record live? Thank you!

The signals from their mixer if you don't have your own, will go to the Scarlett inputs out to the DAW?
i'm reseraching for the same thing, could you find how?
I really want to know if you want to send the output from the sound card to the mixer will it work
Could I use xlr cables to connect the mixer and the scarlet instead of TRS? (I have a bunch of xlr’s lying around and trs cables are expensive)
I have a Mackie 16 channel mixer too and there is no USB on it and its frustrating trying to set it up.
I wouldn't waste your time spaffing the extra for gold connectors if you didn't already?
There is no evidence to support a better signal. It's more cosmetic.
is there a way we can use every channel separated in our daw so you can us pluggins on each one?
Question, when i do a connection like this and my interface has the opcions: line, mic. Which one i have to choose in this kind of connection?
Thanks dear it's too much useful
So you're saying you can't do multi-channel recording with this setup? Like in Logic?
good afternonn jordan, or anyone that may help with this little issue I am having. so, this is what i am facing. Is there a way to not have the mic go through the speakers TIA
hi, thanks for the video. What if I don't have a trs cable, can I use a mono 1/4 cable? Will it work fine?
It will work, but you're more prone to static/interference.
Hi
I have a Focusrite solo. Can I connect a xlr cable from the mixer to the mic input ?
Thanks
Meena
Is possible ?
Really clear and useful. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Do you need a d.i on this?
how would you go about hooking all of these to a electronic Roland module
Jodan how about if I need to do a karaoke song during zoom? plz
Can you help me to connect a yamaha mg06x mixer to a digimore D 920 audio interface
Awesome video just curious where would you connect the studio monitors ? to the mixer or to the Focurite ?
I have mine connected to my Focusrite.
With this set up, am i able to connect multiple mics in the mixer and a keyboard? Im assuming yes but not sure.
Yes, exactly.
Can this be done for recording vocals for a song?
Hi mn so I did the same thing but mine is getting the outside voice like when I’m talking without the mic I can still hear myself I don’t know if it’s my faulty
I’m using Mackie 3204VLZ4 32-Channel USB Mixer to scarlet focuscrite 18i8 3 gen
I need your assistance please
I want to use a Y cable to go from the 2 outputs of the mixer to one input on my audio interface. Is there a problem with doing this? I'm using the mixer for 3 rack toms, they don't need to be stereo.
The interface is a Behringer umc1820
Hi wishing to change / upgrade to focusrite 212 Scarlett how do l connect laptop / interface / mixer as it’s a little different than what l normal do connection wise with interface l am using this is for live stage vocals ??? any help would be great cheers .
Can I connect XLR cables on Yamaha/Mixer out then run in to the input of the scarlet?
I want to connect a Yamaha motif keyboard to my scarlet to connect to a small mixer is it the same setup?
Glad to hear you're happy with it!
I been spending weeks trying to livestream to Facebook but now am frustrated.
I been using Ecamm to to Scarlet2i2 them to IMac and finally got it to work but sounds like echo.
If recording from usb mixer into your DAW with effects does this mean you can not mute the effects on the track
hello mate, you have an informative video. can i ask if you ever have tried to connect the scarlett solo usb audio interface to yamaha mg10xu audio mixer? could you pls help me, looking forward and thanks in advance:)
This sounds fun. I'll film a video on this tomorrow. It'll be up on Friday morning.
I spent hours plugging and unplugging cables but still couldn't by my own 🤣! It will help me a lot
@@Impaneza_Heritier Sounds good. There's a cheap way to do it and a higher quality way to do it. Friday morning I'll have the video up!
Thank you!
Yes, you need to connect it to an audio interface and use balanced cables for a better result. Line inputs on computers are notoriously low quality.
@@kettnercreative thank you for the quick response, i was pulling my hair out over my mixer that i COULD NOT get to work. the scarlett 2i2 is on the way now, keep up the awesome work!
Thank you for your tutorials. Doing so is nice, but the problem is that audio and video are out of sync and I really don’t know how to sync them.
Which audio is out of sync?
@@kettnercreative I’m using the setup described in your video for the audio. I use a camera connected to the computer for the video. The audio and the video are out of sync. Is it the best solution to input the audio this way. I read that it would be better to connect the audio directly to the camera to avoid that.
@@fredericsidler i Connect ir my Scarlett 2i2 3gen to my Presonus then IMac but sounds come out robotic… am trying to livestream to Facebook.
So, What about the output from the computer? It passes through the usb cable, but then how to get the signal to the monitors plugged to my amplifier (plugged to the mixer)?
What are the software of recording?
which cable(tecnical and comercial) did you use to conect the mixer into the inputs of focusrite,
which balanced cable do you recomend for the mixer into focusrite
I m trying to get a signal out of my scarlett 10i20 thru my mackie profx12 the two out from the mackie work fine but channel three on the scarlett no signal . can you advise?
Will using an audio mixer upgrade my sound quality? Nice video btw!
Hey, I'm looking for help.
I have a Scarlett 2i2 and I have it connected directly to my Ipad 8 gen (lighting cable)
We are recording for a pod cast but want to add a 3rd mic is there a way to connect the Scarlett 2i2 into a mixer that allows 4 mic channels to record on separate tracks?
We are using GarageBand
Any and all help would be appreciated
When you monitor the output in your software, why you play with the mic gain instead of playing with the Master knob on the mixer?
On the MG10XU, the master knob actually doesn’t affect the usb output. But it does allow the meter to work, which is useful
what is the difference between using trs and ts mait output to interface ?
Could I do this with the roadcaster pro and something like the komplete audio 6 + Cloud lifter cl 1 all just for a TON of gain
You could, but I don't know why you would?
Why would you need the cloudlifter?
Hello, can I use the Scarlett to stream from XDJ-Xz an laptop to the android phone?
Really i appreciate u bro...😍 My doubt full clear 🥰🥰
Glad to hear that
how to connect that mixer to a synth and then to an interface?
Can i ?...what software we use in recording processed in computer..thank you
So I’m not sure I understood you right. We’re you saying if you did this you couldn’t create multiple tracks in logic and record say guitar on one channel, vocals on one, keys on one ect. Also I have a boss to 202 what would be the best way to hook that up with this configuration?
hi! i'm researching exacly for the same thing, could you find a solution?
@@tribulationsofawastedsociety I have not.
Hi, I would like to know if an audient iD4 can be connected to a yamaha mg10xu mixer.
Why do you want to link them? Why not just connect straight to the computer?
@@kettnercreative I have it connected to the computer.
I just wanted to know if it could connect like the scarlett 2i2. To record some things in live. Excuse my English
@@pr.josuevargas7295 Ahh, I would just connect the MG10XU to the Computer directly. That being said, the Audient iD4 does have line inputs so you can do something similar to this video if you wish.
@@kettnercreative thanks!!
