-Our Intro Song "Feel the Love" From Alex's band

As far as mellow music goes, it doesn't get much better than Bread.
You're right, it doesn't get much butter.😂
Just imagine... A battle of the mellowist bands on earth. Bread, Air Supply, Seals & Croft, etc. See which band could get the audience the most extremely relaxed in their seats. LOL
Oh, it does, it does...!
Gotta agree....
Also:
I like mellow Lionel Ritchie...
Sail On, and Easy
They make make music that's like really good warm soft Bread with the crust cut off.
Don't complain about your high ratings...remember, music was a hell of a lot better 40 years ago than it is now!
Amen 😊
While I would agree there are many less talented performers since autotune I think there is still some fantastic music always being created. I think the bigger issue for us older folks that remember all the great songs of the 60s, 70s, and 80s simply have a harder time finding something new that stands out in that pack.
Nonsense
There was a period of time when Bread, Seals and Crofts and America seemed everywhere on AM radio. I truly miss that period.
The Bellamy Brothers " Let your love flow " Sammy Johns "Chevy Van" Music was fantastic back then
OMG! you could have not said it better than that... Those bands are every part of my youth growing up... and they ruled radio in the early to mid 70s for sure.
Yes it did🎉
"If" is one of the most beautiful love songs ever written.
Yes!
Yep
Absolutely.
Definitely!!
Mm hmm.
"Aubrey". One of the most beautifully melodic songs ever.
Agreed. One of their best and superb in any category.
And Aubrey was her name......
@@bojangles713 A not so very ordinary girl or name...
@@thequeendt But whose to blame? For a Love that wouldnt bloom...
Agree with knobs on. 😊
This was Bread's most successful song on the charts. It went #1 in the summer of 1970. Just a great ballad
in 50 years the 70's will still be the best music made.
A someone who grew up with great songs, I can say that there were so many A songs that we got spoiled. It was just the nature of the time.
Well said!
Across all genres too!
I remember lying by the pool listening to this with two friends who are no longer with us. Life is for us to keep. This takes some of us back to a very sweet time indeed.
That is a memory caught in time that brings your two friends into focus!
nnturton9830 Yes! At least for today, we were together again, young, and without a worry in the world.
So well said. Lives well lived my friend.
Cheers, Richard, cheers !
Thank you for taking me back with you.
I have the exact same story, lying in the
sun with two wonderful friends in the 70s.
Sadly, both also gone too.
The next song from Bread should definitely be " Diary." A song that made many 16 year old guys quietly cry into their pillow in the 1970s.
and then 'Aubrey', an amazing piece of music.
@@paulvaultguy Agreed!
Great call👍

Back in the day I thought Bread was wimpy. Over the years they grew on me. The chord changes in this song are so beautiful.
Back in the day my friends thought that I was wimpy for liking Bread so much. Now time has proven me right, and them wrong.
When Bread was big in the 70s, I just didn't appreciate them, but I was a dumb teenager back then, and really like them now.
I think our testosterone levels must have dropped off since those days.😄
Such is the nature of toxic masculinity. It is a shame that we, as males, allow a whole genre of music to define who we are as men.
As a 16 yr.-old working my first job, I wore Bread out on the jukebox. Spent half my earnings before I got home. Easy to do at $1.85/hour.
Oh good grief. You two are killin’ me with the songs these days.
That said, beautiful song, beautiful memories. ❤️
Pure 70's soft rock gold✌️
Remember you are NOT rating on a curve. These are the best songs - people’s favorites or poll winners. Nearly all of them should be A’s.
Just like all these David Gates Bread songs, the vocal melody and delivery is as beautiful as it gets.
“I feel like we’re giving out a lot of A’s and A+’s lately.”
Maybe you’re just listening to the best songs that each band from the 70’s has to offer? Just because there are a lot of them doesn’t negate their quality.
Thanks for all your reviews. Love hearing my high school and college classics through your well informed reactions.
Haven't heard this in years. I was always into more heavy stuff, but hearing these softer songs that were on AM radio back then, I realize how lucky we were. Even the stuff that wasn't our particular cup of tea was superb music. There really was something of quality for all tastes.
A&A, you'll love their "It Don’t Matter To Me" !!
Beautiful.
YES!!
You can give it an A it’s one of the best songs of the early 70’s
For a very VERY long time, this was the #1 most requested wedding song.
The orchestration and arrangement and sweetening in this song are phenomenal.
You got it right when you said people are recommending the best. Most of the songs you review got a LOT of radio play, so of course they would be highly rated. You don't have to worry about giving out a lot of A's A+'s or even S's. Give the songs what they deserve, and don't be concerned about the ratios.
Exactly!
Agree 100 %!!😊
That's exactly why I can't say I have a favorite band....I have the Moody Blues as a consistent, but I loved oh so many in the day, from Dylan to the Dead.
Exactly! I was a teacher for 30 years and all I could think when they said that was how I would never grade a class of students on ratio. :) Each has to be graded on its own merits. (Sorry Johnny, you have to get a C...I have given too many As and Bs this month. Can you imagine? Haha )
This Bread is soft crust, haha!! My favorite Bread song, A+ for me. Sopping up the sweetness, rocking the romance!
All Bread songs are classics.
For what it is, it's an A or better. You said it yourself, they made it stand out from the crowd with musicianship. And David Gates' voice? S tier.
Fantastic song by the fantastic Bread. This is my go-to song when I play solo gigs. Never fails to delight the audience. Keep up the good work, my friends! “It Don’t Matter To Me” needs to be next up for Bread journey. 👊🎶💙
Phenomenal song.
I just re-listened to “It Don’t Matter to Me” after seeing your comment. What a beautiful, heartfelt song! I hope Andy and Alex give it a listen.
💯 percent agree! It's such a great song!

As a 15 year old girl in 1970, the sun rose and set on Bread for me. They were phenomenal
Bread is such a awesome vibe ....💛
Memories of simple times and lazy Summers as a 12 year old come to mind every time I hear this now that I'm older. One of Bread's best.
Yes, I was 14 in 9th grade when it came out and went to #1. Pretty soft for me but everyone liked the band Bread back in the day!
Having grown up hearing Bread on the radio, every time I hear one of their songs now, it's very nostalgic and a little bit sad.
Even rock lovers want to lay back and chill sometimes, and there's not many better to do it to!
Smooth as silk! Beautiful voice! Bread was chill music and always good for date nights.
That's 53 years ago! 💜 C'mon how much competition did this song really have back then for this style? Haha. 💜 One of my favorites all this time and I was very little when this came out, maybe in first or second grade. Lol. This was barely into the seventies, this was right out of the 60s. Bread was phenomenal.
You guys have credibility, no worries about the r abundance of A ratings. You’re hearing the best of the best.
For Easy Listening / Soft Rock, it's hard to beat these guys. Highly recommend their tune "If."
Songs were just that good-from late 60s to late 70s. It was a great time to come into your musical identity as a young person. I still go back to this era more than my college years in the 80s.
Bread was a guilty pleasure back then because soft rock just wasn't something I would follow. This song is so sweet. Try "If" for a more intense tug at heart strings. You guys picked a good one and treated it kindly.
1971 my girlfriends and my special song, still have the 45 record. Then her Mom heard the song and tore into her for listening to a "getting it on song" based on the title !
This has always sounded like someone Truly speaking from their Heart! I Love that!
The Bread song If was our first dance song at our wedding and Bread has to be the most mellow band ever. Even their upbeat songs like Mother Freedom and Been Too Long On The Road are mellow. 🙌✌️
Beautiful song. Hard to believe you never heard it, even as background music .
"Aubrey" next
I love the pristine sound, the production value. Bread is up there w/ Steely Dan & ELO for tone, depth & space in the sound.
So true. They were as much perfectionists as Steely Dan.

A beautiful song from a great voice. Goosebumps all over!
🎶🎶🎶😘
Hitting some great circa 1970 soft rock lately. Nice. Really appreciate the reaction, guys.
The production is immaculate in this song!
What a beautiful vocal progression.
It's an easy A+ love song. Hard to beat David Gates' voice for this type of song.
You two are hands down the best reactors on you tube!!! I love this reaction. I give you guys an S.
You need to listen to their songs Aubrey, it don’t matter to me, Diary and Everything I own. His voice is so hypnotic.
This is "s" tier for me. Easy, sweet, mellow, soothing.. Could listen to it over and over.
Talk about a band and a man that doesn't get half the credit they deserve. Soundtrack of the 70s.
We have AMAZING TASTE! Always give it what it deserves!😉😊
It's an "A" for sure!
It's just not fair that this much amazing music came out of one decade
Yes it is.
From the summer of 1970, and as always, written, arranged & sung by David Gates, the vocal leader of the group. This song was on AM Top 40 radio in Denver, 950 KIMN, right around the time Richard & Karen Carpenter were taking the music world by storm, with " Close To You ". Also, James Taylor, with " Fire & Rain" , earlier that year. --------MJL, 76 y/o
Bread - Make it with you was one of the biggest hits by bread and anyone else during that time. I lived through the greatest period of Rock/Pop, and that was the 1960s/1970s.
You guys have not done "If". That is one of my favorites from them . The song "Aubrey" also
In my opinion "Make It With You" is the very best Soft Rock ballad of all time. This great song hit #1 of the Billboard Hot 100 Chart in 1970.
Another great Bread song is "Aubrey". I think in the back of our minds, all of us old guys have a list of the ones that got away. Aubrey hits hard.
If you ever hung out with girls in the early '70's you know you love this!
"Look What You've Done" and "Lost Without Your Love", are underappreciated gems.
You guys are listening to Mega Talents! Yes they deserve A rating because they are THAT GOOD!
Bread was a pop group, and what a memorable pop! Just beautiful songs. Love them! A gift.
A+ all day
Absolutely beautiful! LOVE Bread!
Best of Bread, best high school slow dance/make-out album ever.
They loved him great voice and live band a smooth singer great song
This band were my dad's favourite so I was brought up on this. Love this song and I miss my Dad every single day.
So glad you reviewed this. Makes me happy and sad.
I was born in 1969. My parents had great taste in music. I was exposed to so many different genres of music through aunts, uncles, parents, and grandparents. I loved it all. This is one of my parents favorite bands back then. I love them. They don't have a bad song.
Bread was one of the smoothest sounding groups back in the day.
Baby I’m a Want You, Guitar Man, It Don’t Matter To Me, Diary. 🎶🎵 The love songs of junior high.
This was THE slow dance song of its era. Wonderful and forever memorable.
A Voice contestant did this song recently and Gwen Stefani raved. You need to do "If'". I think it's their best.
Reminds me of primary school in the 70’s. Haven’t heard this for decades, still a beautiful soft song.
EXACTLY
you are only ever going to get recommendations from us for songs that are A-tier thru S-tier
which is why you guys are giving so many A's and A+'s
I really do love this guy's voice. One of their best jams is 'It Don't Matter to Me", IMO - the end in particular is just so kickass.
One must also consider the time period. All music and talent. No marketing, no lip syncing, no autotune. 100 % .Authenticity
In 1985, the only thing left in my stolen 1984 stripped car when found was my Bread's Greatest Hits cassette...it cant all be Rush & Floyd...Bread songs are...lovely...in the right time/place...
Their first big hit and it was huge back then. I was a kid, but I remember it playing all the time. I really enjoy Bread. They were pretty mellow, but still well crafted songs with great production and lyrics.
I remember hearing this song on the car radio when my family went on a road trip in the summer of 1970. What a great song.
If you are searching for suitable mood music to play when trying to "set the ambience", try Samba Pa Ti by Carlos Santana.
Beautiful song that is reminiscent of that early 70’s mellow rock. Bread is the template of this genre.
Yes, it's because we suggest the best! There's a lot of crap that's never suggested.
Remember this is the 70's, the best era in popular music,A's or higher are the standard of this time period. There isn't anything on the radio even close to this
I never grade on a curve so A for me. So melodic and romantic
Alex: “We have given out so many A’s and A+’s” - understatement of the year. If we could only have more sleepy songs on this channel that would be sooooo cool. We would never want to mix in any bangers like: Saturday Night Special - Lynyrd Skynyrd. More sleepy songs that are great elevator music, more average bands like Bread. Let’s gooooooooooooo
I sing this to myself in the mirror each morning! Great great song!!!
There's a reason that most of the songs you listen to have made it into the top 10 up to and including #1 on the charts in the past. It's because they have a catchy hook or really great instrumentation or smooth, flawless vocals, etc. These songs have become beloved over the decades and have lasted for decades because they are so good. And that's why you give so many A and A+ scores (kind of what you said). I'm sure Bread has put out songs during their time that didn't quite make it up there to the top and that's okay. Most artists and bands have experienced this (just listen to classic American Top 40 shows and you'll see what I mean).
I listened to Bread so much back in their heyday. One of my most favorite songs of theirs is actually sung by their other "high voice" singer, Jimmy Griffin, which is "Look What You've Done". Jimmy got shoved to the side when the music label chose David Gates to be the face and voice of Bread.
S. The number of songs that are at the pinnacle of cheesiness that accomplish what this recording accomplishes is very, very small.
Almost impossible to be this sweet and be taken seriously at all. It mainly stands on the vocal. The vocal approach takes it to S tier.
Well said! 👏🏻
I bought this song in the summer of 1970. Check out it's B-side "Why do you keep me waiting" - more of a rocker, - snappy, poppy, somewhat like John Lennon and Elton John's "Whatever gets you through the night."
But the most underrated Bread song is "Been too long on the road." This is a song you could make a TV movie of the week out of. Back in the day this is the kind of song you'd hear on Friday night at 7 p.m. on the radio and then call the record shop to see how late it's open because you just HAD to buy it. It's also not a gentle ballad in the style of most of their songs, so the style will surprise you.
So freaking romantic 💘
Such a great love song. Not a rocker, but a keeper.
Goosebumps and all the feelzzz. A guy says this to a gal, boom done, just take me and yes call me baby😅. Melting. Beautiful and sexy at the same time, Bread did love songs right. Love all of their gems. Thanks guys!!
This song is very popular for wedding reception slow dances.
Speaking of mellow dances try Morning Dance by Spyro Gyra. It has a Sax solo, and I believe Xylophone solo and a Marinba solo. It's very reminiscent of Chuck Mangione's Feel So Good and one of my all-time favorites!
As talked about in “70’s Weekly Countdown with Mark and Pete”, David Gates’ Mom was interviewed and was quoted as saying she was really proud of her son’s success, but disappointed that he did a song called “Naked With You”.
Don't move on from Bread without checking out 'If' and 'Diary'. Quintessential.
It was these guys and The Carpenters that pretty much the term "soft rock" was invented. Perhaps my favorite song by them along with "If".
