Rainbow Fruit Kebobs with a Watermelon Grill from Cookies Cupcakes and Cardio

Fruit Kebab
You will need a variety of colourful fruit, ideally ones that can be cut using small fondant cutters.
• Some ideas for the different coloured fruits are:
• red- watermelon, strawberries,
• orange- cantaloupe, oranges, peach,
• yellow- pineapple, pears
• green- kiwi, honeydew melon,
• blue- blueberries, blackberries,
• purple- blackberries, grapes
• wooden skewers
• small fondant cutters
To assemble the fruit kebobs, slice fruit up as desired, and cut out any shape from the melons using the small cutters. Starting with the red fruit, slide it onto the wooden skewer, leaving about an inch from the end. Next, slide the orange fruit on, then the yellow, green, blue and finishing with the purple.
Watermelon Grill
• small round watermelon
• wooden skewers,
• celery,
• blackberries
• clippers
To assemble the Watermelon grill, slice the watermelon in half, and you must first core out the watermelon leaving only a small thin layer of red fruit behind. You can use this for the fruit kebobs! Carefully carve out three or four small holes in the bottom of the watermelon half. Into these holes, insert celery sticks for legs to support the grill. Turn watermelon half back over and ensure that legs are supporting the grill. Place some blackberries in the bottom of the watermelon for the briquettes, and then insert wooden skewers about 1/4 of an inch from the top of the watermelon, making the "grilling" surface. Push the wooden skewers across the opening of the watermelon and insert into the opposite side. Using a knife or clippers, clip the excess skewers off. Place kebobs onto the grill and serve immediately!

Aw, I bet your trip seemed way too short given the beautiful CA weather!! I'm sharing your video with my food allergy clients. (I'm a Food Allergy Consultant). It's so hard for our kiddos to live with food allergies, it's important to make 'safe' foods look delicious because we do eat with our eyes first! Making fruit bowls into these types of items are a great way for our kids to get a special treat that is safe for them! So thanks!

That's a great idea! It was interesting to see how much more exciting the fruits were when they were cut out with shapes...it's a little effort, for a fun change from the normal. I hope they like the idea!
I used to teach PreK-K in our local homeschool group so I had kids between 3-6 yrs old. When we put a bowl of fruit out vs fruit on a stick, the kids immediately wanted the fancy fruit on a stick! "If you make it fancy, they will eat it" is my motto! HAHA! For kids with many food allegies, many can't enjoy cakes, cupcakes, etc. So making fancy fruit & veggie platters always hits the spot for them.

Here in Norway, the blueberries are blue on the inside, so if you squeeze it between your fingers your fingers will most probably get a bluepurple-ish color :)

For taking out the middle of the watermelon you should have cut along the inside of the watermelon and cut to the bottom and took the middle out it would have taken less time for the watwemelon

You should soak the skewers in water before you push the fruits in. They slide in more easily
I don't think that would change how easy it is to put the fruit on. Normally you soak the skewers so they don't burn when you grill them but you aren't grilling anything so it's not necessary
