My Mother worked @ Treasure Island as a Cashier in the early '60s.( My mother also worked @ Isley's in High School(Catholic Central). My Uncle's nickname was "JUMBO" because of his love of donuts. Outside of Steubenville(In Smithfield) my father owned the BLUE SWAN TAVERN (who gave Wild Cherry their start)!
I lived all over America and Europe from 27 years of military service. Most times if I mentioned Steubenville, people gave me a look of of fear and oddity. The town has had a dark notorious reputation of corruption and boast of " Little Chicago ". Books as " Twelve Against The Underworld ' & The Master Mechanic " to the High School Rape Scandal ".
I will tell you something positive about Steubenville, in the Catholic world if you tell someone you graduated from Franciscan University of Steubenville, you're like a rock star in the Catholic world!
I lived in Steubenville from 1976-1989 on Woodlawn Road. I preferred Dicarlos over Iggys Pizza.
