I grew up in a southeastern coastal resort town of 8,500. We had two FBI Special Agents stationed in the town who were awesome, patriotic guys. They were active in local houses of worship, in the schools, with Scout troops and youth activities. They were widely recognized as two of the finest people in town and everyone looked up to them. Fifty years later, one of them is still alive and STILL a very respectable person. There was a time when being a FBI Special Agent meant that an officer was the very best America had to offer in terms of law enforcement. THE best.
