You Sir, are a life saver. I've spent hours searching for a basics tutorial on Krita, just to find out how to move and manipulate pieces of my digital sketches and this is the ONLY one I've seen that has actually explained how to do so. I'm sure that most digital artists take these tiny things for granted as general knowledge, but for someone just starting out in digital drawing and new to Krita this is super helpful. Thank you so much for this video. :D

My fine sir, why you have graciously have saved me so much trouble as i have been searching for a long time on how to use a clipping mask or whtver but here you have explained it finely and thus thank you sooo much much my dear friend i literally subbed instantly
You can change the fill tool properties from "All Layers" to "Current Layer" in the tool options docker to resolve the fill issue you mentioned at 7:45. You may have to uncheck the option "Fill Entire section" to change sample options in the tool option docker. If you do not see the tool options docker after selecting the fill tool. You can simply go to Settings on the top bar > Dockers > and enable Tool Options. This will reveal the tool option dialog in the right pane.
what if I don't have Tool Options? Like at all? :D I watched so many tutorials and all of them have it on top of the color selector or at least as docker in the settings. My krita just does not have it :(

One thing you can do to help it bucket fill the background better, drag it down lower on the stack. The layers matter on what it affects or doesn't. This can be amazing if you want to throw a background under some things, but also have it show through other layers. :)
^^ Yup! Strangely, in Krita, it bucket fills whatever is visible, so if your line art layer is showing, it won't bucket fill under the line art :/ This sounds pretty cool! Thank you for sharing, Jessica!! :)

I’ve had Krita for a year now and have had to struggle with color due to me not knowing how to add a clipping layer so I thank u for helping ease my pain
instead of hiding all your layers to bucket fill the background, just move the layer you want to fill to the top of the layers, fill it then move it back to where it was.
There's a function to fill the current layer you're on, without any interference from other layers. That's the fastest way, but if you're more comfortable doing it like how you said - then keep on keepin' on :)

On the bucket fill thing.. I found that just filling out a few times is enough ..just clicking a few times will do it..instead of making the other layers invisible 🙃
this was awesome and taught me some things, but I do have an easier solution for your fill issue. First select your color, then make a new layer for the layer you want filled as a background ,then go to 'Edit' on the top left of the window and select 'Fill with Foreground Color' or use the short cut "Shift + Backspace". There you have it, Thank you again and hope this helps.

Just bought my drawing tablet for my pc, thank you I can’t wait to get started
When I try to draw something a circle will come around the pen then when I try to draw it will not do anything then it will suddenly shoot out, pls help me
Sounds like your mouse and pen are fighting. Try moving your mouse away from the tablet!

For the bucket fill issue, there’s actually an option you can change to make it work on / read a layer instead of the whole canvas!
That drawing is good, bruh
I see that still after 2 years of you making this video it is the most useful video for a beginner out there so thank you a lot
Нет проблем!
(No problem!)
I draw in hands and then I use a program to photoscam the image, so I can color it on computer. I have Krita and Photoshop as well. And Krita seems to be faster than photoshop in low spec computers. ( sorry for bad english )
Nice! Yeah, in my opinion, Krita and Gimp are HEADS and heels above Photoshop 😃
Thank you so much!! I can finally work on my art! I draw on drawing tablets, but this is the first time that I'm using Krita! :D

I was drawing today. And i had 2 problems the bucket fill and the lasso transform thing and you fix it! Thank you
I'm just getting starting on Crytah and on drawing. I'm super excited to get started after this.
Have fun pal!
@@TutsByKai thank you!!!
Great video! I'm still in the early days of using a drawing tablet and krita. Thanks 👍
one way you can fill the background without hiding the layers on top is by pressing enter on the layer you want to be filled !!
That is one way! There's also some button that says, fill active layer... or something like that!
I just got a huion h640p I’m so happy 😊
I’ve just started to practice on krita And I don’t know how to rotate

So happy for you!
I want to know how to use it for making lectures online
I like the full canvas feature but I want a simple pen and color menu which is small so I can record a big part of my screen
i just discovered Krita while searching some good drawing apps in google. I am so happy that this is free and it has everything i need. I hope I can enhance well in here.
Awesome! Stick with it! I'm sure you could draw Merida amazingly :)

@@TutsByKai Thank you!
Anytime! :)
I Messed It Up For Like 19 Times While Drawing. Then U Came And Saved Me
I use my mouse. KIND of like the challenge (dont have enough to buy a tablet yet, ), but yeah there are plenty of tools that really help on krita- I mainly work on faces, so just the usual tools help a lot
I had a 'tips on drawing with a mouse' video, but kept pushing it back. I'm gonna make that video finally! It is time 😄
@@TutsByKai Thank you :D I learn pretty fast, but I`m kind of nervous of using tablets to be honest. I`m not quite sure how I`ll do with the hand eye coordination, but there`s always room to try and learn- working on landscapes right now, they are a bit simpler, I`m finding the blend knife tool very adequate for my landscape style :)
