Join Anna and Alf in this video as they visit PANTASAPH FRIARY / VINCENTIAN RETREAT CENTRE, the home of the ST PADRE PIO NATIONAL SHRINE and PILGRIMAGE SITE in PANTASAPH, NORTH WALES, UK as they walk through beautiful woodlands taking the CALVARY HILL WALK visiting the STATIONS OF THE CROSS while Anna talks about the history of this FRIARY and RETREAT CENTRE that encompasses ST DAVIDS CHURCH, and the CONTROVERSY THAT SURROUNDED IT IN THE PAST. Since 2022 it has been taken over by THE VINCENTIAN CONGREGATION originally from INDIA and is now open again for RETREATS, CALVARY HILL and ROSARY walks and for PILGRIMAGE .
The name PANTASAPH speaks of a CATHOLIC past and in the 7th century ST Asaph who ministered in this region became the local Bishop of Llanelwy, which was renamed St Asaph after his death.
PANTASAPH is first recorded in 1536 although spelt ' Pant Assay' and was possessed by BASINGWERK ABBEY.

He had received what the religious call the “gift of tears”. For the Church, the fact of being able to cry, either of joy or of pain, is a gift that would come from the Holy Spirit. Amazing. Padre Pio, such a wonderful saint! Our friend's mom, who was very involved at her church, actually brought a relic from St. Padre Pio, his glove, "Wow!" Such a powerful experience! His story and life is so fascinating 👍 Anyways, this shrine is amazing, the church, tour and area is beautiful. Very nice tour and history. TFS, beautiful! 🙂 Take care my friend. 🥰

Wow i have never seen anything like this Vincentian retreat location. Certainly delightful to do a wooded walk down there during the daytime, i bet it's a bit scary to go there at night with just a flashlight or candlelight. This is truly a remarkable Catholic Church complex and station of the cross pilgrimage. A nice retreat center as well. So peaceful and quite close to nature church. Thank you Anna for sharing a piece of history❤

Calvary Hill walk is very beautiful and peaceful. My husband is in the healing ministry he has been for many many years. We are Catholic and we are very familiar with Padre Pio. This video is amazing. Love the inside of St. David's Church. Our Welsh still needs lots of help. I hope to visit Wales someday...God willing. Stay Blessed
