  • In part 4 of the Nissan NV200 Camper Conversion series we will be adding on some wood to the ribs of the back of the van so that we can drill a ceiling easier onto the van once all the insulation is finished on the roof. We will also be spray foaming the interior of the roof ribs as they are not easily accessible to use any other type of insulation.
    Some of the stuff I have used throughout the van build
    Dewalt Jigsaw DCS331 - amzn.to/2MEIh0s
    Dewalt Drill DCD780 - amzn.to/2JdfeyW
    Dewalt Circular Saw DCS391B - amzn.to/2qtLQht
    Dewalt Shop Fan DCE511B - amzn.to/2W6tGxX
    Rockpals 300w Solar Generator - amzn.to/2N2UDP9
    Vantech J1000 Roof Racks - amzn.to/2BBmUa5
    Thule Force Sport Roof Top Cargo Box - amzn.to/32F7mxV
    Thule Force Sport Roof Top Cargo Box at REI - bit.ly/3flzlbQ
    3m Thinsulate Insulation - amzn.to/2MA8ZYd

    Use Dynaliner for thermal insulation and acoustic isolation to better save more space for yourself and easy to peel and stick.

    The fact that You didn’t get any of that foam in your beard earns a job well done in my book.

    What is the point of those metal ribs? Seems like a deliberate waste of space, design-speaking

  • @jjthedane
    @jjthedane ปีที่แล้ว

    how did you screw the wood beams in the metal. self tapping screws?

    Pretty cool. How are you planning on insulating the walls and windows?

    • @ChrisGoesOutdoors
      @ChrisGoesOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have some thinsulate fabric insulation for the larger gaps and I still have about half a sheet plus leftover 1" insulation that I will use in the easier to reach sections of the walls / windows.

    Hi Chris, your videos have been super informative and helpful! Did you also spray-foam the small gap where the metal ceiling meets the top of the wood ceiling mounts? I wonder if leaving the space unfilled creates an opportunity for moisture or condensation to build up and risk mold of the wood over time. Thanks!

      the whole area is loaded up pretty good with insulation so should be filled in. Im not too worried about moisture build up where I dont really have any intention on living in this full time

    It kinda looked like you're having a bad mustache day... the one side looked way longer but maybe it was just the lighting.
    Great progress on the van! Where's the first trip going to be?

      @ChrisGoesOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya its the solid lighting / iphone quality. No major trips planned but who knows

    Do you have any concerns about the weight of the build out affecting the performance of the van?

    • @Blaubeere17
      @Blaubeere17 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The NV200 can handle quite a lot of weight. And even full loaded there is not really a different feeling to drive.

    How many sheets of the insulation did it take to do the ceiling and walls of the van?

    • @ChrisGoesOutdoors
      @ChrisGoesOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I got 2 pieces of 4 x 9ft. I used them on the walls on some parts as well but havent posted that video yet. Ive been using thinsulate for inside the doors and spots where the panels / spray foam would not be an option

      Its literally double duty as my everyday driver now. No massive trips planned but who knows. Will probably be attempting to hit some of the Adirondack peaks in the near future so will be nice to be able to take it out there

    Fan? Flettner is small enough for NV200 so you don’t need to cut a big hole for Maxxair....

  • @TheRawBabe

    Don’t do spray foam cuz they’ll expand and break the woods if you watch more van life videos....
