    Great vid once again! Thanks for documenting the ease of removing the
    NV200 headliner for those of us who have been hesitant to remove ours.

    This is also why many folks install a small fan in the roof, but I could see how if you wanted to keep super stealth or not have to worry about potential leaking from the fan that this is a good way to approach things. Taking lots of notes for when I invest in a micro camper!

    Just watched a vid on Van City Van Life where a Canadian couple applied bedliner to all interior metal surfaces where Insulation would typically installed. Except they did NOT install installation at all & they're been living fulltime for 3 years. Plus the bedliner acts as a thermal break as well
    To each their own

    Good to see how nicely it can be done 👌
    I'm considering using sound deadening on the cab ceiling (and elsewhere in the cab). I find the nv200 cab very noisy.

    Hey James. Did you got problems 2 years after installing it? Just got my nv200. Thanks for the videos. I'm planning to put Armaflex 19mm all over the the van walls even in the cab ceiling. Live in Germany and planning to do winter camping(Germany) + Mediterranean trips.

    Great videos, one thing though, I’m no expert but is that not just reflectix foil, so it just reflects radiant heat, yes good for vapor barriers but the R value is 0 so won’t provide any warmth benefits, what’s your opinion on this ?
    I have a Nissan NV 300 and am doing a build on it at the moment. Your videos have been great and I think I’ll be using your trick with the rubber seals on the doors for the stretch carpet.

    • @LensOfJames
      @LensOfJames  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, the brand is Thermawrap but similar to Reflectix I believe. The info says it has a R value of about 1.5 but I'm only using it to ensure that condensation doesn't form - I'm not sure I mentioned warmth or heat in the video. I'm aware that it's far from the best insulator but for a van that I sleep in less than 30 nights a year (and use as a day van the rest of the time) it meets my needs perfectly 👌 The walls and ceiling were dripping wet without it. Glad the videos are useful, good luck with the doors, really please I did mine that way as they look super smart!

    I also have a Nissan nv200 I’m not sure what to do with the air bags? Did you have to remove them/ I’m worried to take things off and potentially cause a hazard if they inflate.

    • @LensOfJames
      @LensOfJames  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, no I didn't remove any airbags. I'm not sure about the Tekna model, but mine's an Acenta and only has airbags in the front and I haven't had to do any work up there.

    Hi James, can I ask why you just taped the foil on in the cab but glued it on everywhere else? Love the videos.

    • @LensOfJames
      @LensOfJames  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, it's because I would be carpeting over the foil in the back of the van and didn't want it to sag, or because the foil was in a hard to tape area, but the headliner covers the foil in the front so I just taped the edges.

    • @steeul
      @steeul 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LensOfJames Ok thanks. I'm planning to ply over the foil in the back, would taping it on work just as well as glueing it on in that case?

    Woah... you glossed over a tricky bit... The door seals, celing clips, visor & light fitting are super easy to take off hut the visor clips & rear mirror housing have been VERY stubborn. Do rhe clips just pull off? Im frightened of breaking them because i think teyd be a nightmare to replace

    • @LensOfJames
      @LensOfJames  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, I found they were both fairly straight forward to get off, you just need a set trim removal tools so as not to damage them. If in doubt, go really slowly and look for the areas providing the most movement, as this is generally where they're connected to the van. Best of luck!

    Fantastic as always James.
    I just bought a 2012 nv200 and I've been studying your videos closely, I have gotten so much from them, thank you.
    Quick question I had the van professionally cleaned/shampooed (just seats and upholstery in the front as the previous owner was a smoker), I asked for the headliner to be cleaned and the guy said he could only dry clean it, needless to say, it doesn't look much better, maybe worse! This video has inspired me to take it down and clean it myself. What was the cleaner you used and given the flimsy foam backing were you not concerned? Thanks keep up the great work! Alex

  • @bondvillansarebest
    @bondvillansarebest 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Am I missing something or are you likely to just trap the condensation on the other side of the foil? I could see that on a low humidity day you would just have dry air trapped, but isn't there a future problem in trapping moisture?

    • @LensOfJames
      @LensOfJames  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a possibility, but I performed numerous tests before I started insulating my van, and had slept in the van without foil insulation (which was the cause of a lot of condensation) and also with insulation and it really does make a difference. Not the best insulator by any means, but for my budget and how I use the van (sleep in it less than 30 nights a year) it's the ideal solution!

    • @bondvillansarebest
      @bondvillansarebest 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LensOfJames Hi. Having just insulated the cab, I can now see why you didn't go for the recycled insulation. The clearance of the headlining is pretty close in some places and it's difficult to get a good profile that doesn't cause fit problems with the liner. It turns out that the insulated bubble wrap is designed to be used with an air gap to achieve its insulating properties. The gap between the liner and the roof potentially creates this air gap. As I'm interested in keeping heat out on hot days, I decided to also stick a layer of insulated bubble wrap onto the top of the headlining. It's a simple process. I'd recommend carpet tape as well as spray glue to help get a close fit if you were looking to try yourself

      I suppose the insulation acts as a moisture barrier to stop the water vapour getting up there in the first place? Great video, thanks!
