THE FEAST OF SAN GENNARO (in Italian: Festa di San Gennaro), also known as San Gennaro Festival, is a Neapolitan and Italian-American patronal festival dedicated to Saint Januarius, patron saint of Naples and Little Italy, New York.
His feast is celebrated on 19 September in the calendar of the Catholic Church.
In the United States, the "Festa of San Gennaro" is also a highlight of the year for New York's Little Italy, with the saint's polychrome statue carried through the middle of a street fair stretching for blocks.

How much I love this Feast Julien! Walking there in this time of the year is like a going through a cheese, so pact of people Little Italy is. The Feast of San Gennaro brought us the very best of Italian food in town: pasta, pizza, gnocchi, bruschetta, cannoli, gelato, etc. It smells....😉 ah crazy! It's easy to get a few pounds walking there alongside the people cooking and eating non stop. Thanks a lot for hearing my prayer mon cher amie! 🗽✨❤

My uncle who immigrated from Russia in the late 50s to Buffalo, would tell us stories how ,n from the thirties on the mob would use the feast dat of san gennarro do do most of their dirty work because the overcrowded streets and all attention would be focused in one area and the mob used the day as a mask to knock people off or kidnap thugs.
Who is Saint Gennaro?
For what you spend at the festival you can cook for 30 people. This is food is easy to cook: being Greek I can cook it with my eyes closed 😂
