I have not been to Williamsbourg, but I have been to another Jewish enclave, Boroughpark, where it is relatively clean. Latino neighborhoods are the dirtiest, not to mention black neighborhoods. I come from a country where in the past, in the times of communism, it was perhaps not so dirty, but gray and sad. America is a land of contrasts from unimaginable wealth to extreme poverty, which is very evident. I completely fail to understand the myth that in America everyone is very rich, which was common in our country until the 21st century. Today, when I return from the USA to Poland, I have the impression that I am returning to a cleaner and more civilized country. And yet Poland is still not a particularly rich country.

Tonight is the start of Sabbath, Friday and sirens blare as a signal to stop all activities and the neighborhood is totally vacant of people, . They will all be inside observing the Sabbath. There are a few Hasidic festivals that are similar to Halloween and New Year's. There are some good resources online to learn about Hasidim. But if you visit Brooklyn, this neighborhood would be interesting to stroll

It used to be Crown Heights in Brooklyn. When I was very young, I went there for few minutes with my father. Even as a little kid I was actually thinking that we were in Eastern Europe.
To me those outfits are comical. I'm sitting here laughing especially at the ginormous round fur hats. A reasonable person might make an erroneous assumption; that I'm contemptuous and willfully disrespectful of Jewish people but I am most assuredly not. So many of my greatest American cultural heroes are Jewish. America would simply not be America without the influence of our Jewish citizens and patriots. It's just that there are very many strains of Judaism. There are branches where you don't even have to go to temple and you still get credit like the kind you'd rub shoulders with in my city of Miami. To me those outfits are comical. I'm sitting here laughing especially at the ginormous round fur hats. A reasonable person might make an erroneous assumption; that I'm contemptuous and willfully disrespectful of Jewish people but I am most assuredly not. So many of my greatest American cultural heroes are Jewish. America would simply not be America without the influence of our Jewish citizens and patriots. It's just that there are very many strains of Judaism. There are branches where you don't even have to go to temple and you still get credit like the kind you'd rub shoulders with in my city of Miami. The community in Williamsburg must be at the opposite end of the spectrum. I've been to shul with my friends and never heard one word I disagreed with.

Formal worship and following rules and regulations are secondary but the individual follows a very strict Hasidic way of life. Hasidism does not view Israel as a legitimate country, since only the Messiah can re establish the true Israel .
