When I was a kid I was given a GBA and it was my absolute pride and joy. I was so so so careful with it as I knew I wouldn’t get another one if I broke it. Even to this day, I am so incredibly careful with my consoles. It’s crazy to me that someone would allow theirs to get in such poor condition.
I think this usually comes from someone just dumping them into a cardboard box into the attic because they don't use them anymore. I still have all but my GBColor gold that disappeared and my GBA white that broke.

Not counting the roaches, how TF does someone pay that much for a console and treat it this bad. I don't even use my PS4 since getting the 5 but I still clean it out regularly.
Believe me, I've worked in the repair field for a long time. Most people just like companies don't care about the equipment until it doesn't work. Then after all of the damage they want it back "Perfect". I've seen Telecomm equipment half full of dust and cockroaches. (I hate cockroaches)

I worked at mad catz over 20 years ago and we used to repair playatations when our controllers would break them lol. We got one ps in and when we removed the first screw little legs started trying to get out! We screwed the one screw back and sent it back with the quickness!
I worked at a wheelchair shop and we had a power chair come in that was infested with roaches. When i think of what the owner went through i still feel sick. Their care giver abandoned them and eventually the landlord found them. Don't know how they survived.
I watched Robert's cleaning video with this PS5 and it was absolutely disgusting and satisfying at the same time. You should definitely let him keep it as his own for his hard work! He totally earned it!

A bit of advice, when you get any type of electronics that might have possible infestation put them in plastic trash bag and then put them in the freezer for a hour or two that will kill off any roaches or bed bugs or any bugs.

Did my first iFix It repair this weekend. It was a great experience! Swapped my 2015 Macbook Pro 15 in battery. Before the repair the battery lasted 5-10 mins off the charger. After, it played a 2.5 hr movie in 1080p 2 and a half times.
I once bought an ottoman from a store brand new. Took it home and set it up next to my tv stand. While I was watching a movie I saw a huge roach pop out of it and fall to the floor. I wrapped the ottoman in a trash bag and put it at the curb. I spent 5 hours looking for the roach because it crawled away quickly. Finally found it and killed it. Luckily I did not get a roach infestation…but the moral of the story, is you don’t have to live in filth for that to happen. I keep my place clean and tidy, so I was mortified when I saw that damn roach 😂
insane how people always managed to destroy usb or hdmi ports, sometimes i plugged in hdmi & usb cables with force too or with the wrong side blindly but idk how much "force" they have apply to break them, unless they step on it to break the connectors off etc.
Since at least around 2000 when I used Scart I have always used things like switches for av items and a usb hub or even just a male to female adapter rather than put something in direct that way if I damage something its just a case of replacing the single item rather than having a ruined device/tv/monitor. I used to think I was being a little crazy doing so but in recent years people have told me either they do the same thing or its a smart idea.
God I dealt with a cockroach infestation in my house for over a year as a result of accepting an appliance from a family friend, and see this brings the PTSD out. There was so many. They were everywhere. It took so much effort to get them out of the house, but it sure feels good to be done with them.

I'm currently studying Embedded Systems, learning programming in c and soldering and measuring. You're content is not only enjoyable now but I can actually understand and appreciate how complex these PCB and IC's really are...
The "complexity" of PCBs is less about functionality or performance improvements and more about intentionally decreasing the ease of repairability for the general consumer. In fact some unnecessary pcb complexities split up board functions onto daughter boards, like we see in modern controllers, merely to introduce more possible fail points should a consumer attempt dismantling their devices. Some pcb complexities like this however, are for making a product more compact.
Damn, this video brings back memory of me having to tear apart the Steamdeck to clean. It had hundreds if not thousands of ants inside crawling in and out of the vents, the joystick and once the console heats up you could see dead roasted ants being ejected out the vents 😢 Had a fun time cleaning it up though with adrenaline rushing. I didn't want to break anything 😂😂😂

Hundreds of Roaches poured out of it and were all over Receiving and the nearest departments. We took pics of the Stove and sent the Customer the bill to kill them all.
If you think there might be insects in inside, make sure it’s well wrapped like as air tight as you can get it with cling film and put it in a freezer for a few days, it will kill them. Better that than them scattering all over your work bench.

You know, it’s kinda depressing to see newer consoles being broken. It hurts to see. But however, my PS5 is in overall excellent condition. Nothing hindering it’s performance.
I can never understand how a console this new (or any console or PC for that matter) can get so dirty. I worked in a PC service a long time ago and people would bring their PCs to get them clean. There was only one that was so dirty it had rat droppings in it. I just can understand how some people store or keep their electronics.

You need a chamber that you can expose the unit to an Ozone generator. a Ozone generator converts oxygen (o2) to Ozone (o3) and it will kill any bugs that may be left alive. It will also kill the smell too.
I bought an Xbox one S battlefield edition from a pawn shop in my local town. Opened her up to upgrade the storage & a whole lot of dead roaches 😂 I’ve learnt a lot from your vids. Keep it up man.
Honestly, why so many consoles in US have roaches inside them? I'm in Poland, I don't think I've heard a single story about bugs inside a console in this country so far, and in US, it happens quite often.
Here in Brazil it's the ants that get inside electronics and ruins them. Some insects are attracted by the very small heat that's generated by the power that's always running while the electronics are on stand by.
Poor people, who live in squalor, always have the newest nicest stuff. I know people that can barely pay rent and they have new phones, a new Xbox, a Nintendo switch for each kid, and a lot of other expensive stuff. I do not have roaches in my house and I'm still using my xbox one I got on release in 2013

Reminds me of the Roach Mobil Home that came into microcenter in the late 80s... an Apple //c... but they were NOT DEAD! New keyboard, floppy drive, and power supply .. just so he could get his free motherboard upgrade due to "modem compatibility". afterwards the show was sprayed down multiple times and the //c went into a sealed garbage bag. he was told they did not want his service after that event. good memory??!?!!!

Very first Xbox I bought off eBay, came with obvious roach infestation. Took pictures, boxed it back up, and took it straight to the dumpster. Seller actually wanted me to return it, and I had to explain to them AND eBay why I had to throw it out, did get a refund.
Maybe a suggestion, when you have a machine like this, you should get some brown paper from Lowes and put it down so that your desk is protected and you can just roll up the paper and toss in the trash.
It's so strange to have bugs in a console.... This summer, after years of issue and errors message, I decide to full disassembly my mother's vorwerk Bimby (around 13 years of sitting in kitchen). When I start to disassemble, I smell the worst mell. It was really really FULL of bugs EVERYWHERE. I start to remove all park, clean with vacuum and then spray in each board the circuit cleaning solution. And then back everything together. I discovered that everything star to work as the first day. So no issue, no errors nothing. I can't imagine that bugs can be so districting for circuit. Do it yourself, is more funny, and cheap
I'll never forget my roach story I used to recover cable boxes for a cable co. and recovered one from inner city apt tower saw that they were in my car later i put the box on my back bumper with the cord inside my hatch back. when I got home put it in my garage, they came through the walls and plug outlets infested my house. I put a roach bomb on my kitchen floor came back the next day millions on floor dead. never saw a live one since. Nasty
I resurected a Xbox 360 from a flea market that had roach infestation. The trouble is they crap across the circuit traces and short out the board(s)! You have to put the console in a plastic bag with paper towels soaked with alcohol. The fumes will kill them. The tiny board that was for the controller was toast from the bugs. I replaced it and all was fine. The console me $9 on my original purchase. They CAN be saved sometimes.
Id love to send you my daughters iPad, she was devastated when one day it just wouldn’t power back on, it’s been in 2 shops here in the UK and both have had it for 3 days and both come back with non repairable, I’d happily pay for postage and return and even for you to take a look yourself, I think your great and love the videos you do, just wish I was that clever with things lol 👍🏻

Good luck with the cockroaches. I've never had any on my side so I have no idea about the smell. On the other hand, in the future, the PS5 will not be able to be saved due to the Liquid Metal in the console at 8:55 and that's not so bad.

Yeah I purchased an Xbox one Scorpio off of Mercari and apparently I wasn’t the 2nd person that encountered this issue where the seller refused to note in the description that it was bug infested and when I rated him I said it was bug infested and he wanted to message me saying that how do I know that the bugs caused the battery to short circuit. And I mentioned to him that I was watching a video of a professional which was u Steve and I explained that Steve explained it on how the bugs will short circuit the power supply to where it will turn on and then turn right back off. So he pretty much wanted to dismiss the claim. So yeah these sellers will fight tooth and nail claiming how do I know that this specific thing caused this issue 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️. Not everybody in the world is meant to have a gaming console if they refuse to take care of their household. It’s very nasty have a gaming console in a smoke environment let alone insects coming in and out of ur homes and they refuse to call a bug company to spray their homes so that these bugs won’t return.

You can't kill roaches by freezing them. They pop right back to life as soon as they thaw

You need a chamber that you can expose the unit to an Ozone generator. a Ozone generator converts oxygen (o2) to Ozone (o3) and it will kill any bugs that may be left alive. It will also kill the smell too.
I bought an Xbox one S battlefield edition from a pawn shop in my local town. Opened her up to upgrade the storage & a whole lot of dead roaches 😂 I’ve learnt a lot from your vids. Keep it up man.

Honestly, why so many consoles in US have roaches inside them? I'm in Poland, I don't think I've heard a single story about bugs inside a console in this country so far, and in US, it happens quite often.
Here in Brazil it's the ants that get inside electronics and ruins them.
Some insects are attracted by the very small heat that's generated by the power that's always running while the electronics are on stand by.
Poor people, who live in squalor, always have the newest nicest stuff. I know people that can barely pay rent and they have new phones, a new Xbox, a Nintendo switch for each kid, and a lot of other expensive stuff. I do not have roaches in my house and I'm still using my xbox one I got on release in 2013
I've heard it's more common in warmer states. Like Texas and Georgia,etc. I live in new Hampshire where it's too cold for cockroaches thankfully.
Dirty or poor people. I feel bad for the people that can't afford to take care of the issue but a lot of people live disgustingly also

Growing up poor taught me to be very carful with my stuff! And keep it clean, and even now 30 years later.. im always very careful with my stuff! Especially my gaming gear! I can’t even imagine how you get this so dirty.. 😅 i only had a gameboy advance back in the day.. and i knew if I wasn’t careful I couldn’t get a new one because there was no money for that.. makes you appreciate your things! 😊 now money isnt a problem anymore.. but still I appreciate the things i work hard for, and keeping you stuff in good condition helps you enjoy it longer! I think some people could use a lesson in appreciation

Reminds me of the Roach Mobil Home that came into microcenter in the late 80s... an Apple //c... but they were NOT DEAD! New keyboard, floppy drive, and power supply .. just so he could get his free motherboard upgrade due to "modem compatibility". afterwards the show was sprayed down multiple times and the //c went into a sealed garbage bag. he was told they did not want his service after that event. good memory??!?!!!

Very first Xbox I bought off eBay, came with obvious roach infestation. Took pictures, boxed it back up, and took it straight to the dumpster. Seller actually wanted me to return it, and I had to explain to them AND eBay why I had to throw it out, did get a refund.
Maybe a suggestion, when you have a machine like this, you should get some brown paper from Lowes and put it down so that your desk is protected and you can just roll up the paper and toss in the trash.

It's so strange to have bugs in a console.... This summer, after years of issue and errors message, I decide to full disassembly my mother's vorwerk Bimby (around 13 years of sitting in kitchen).
When I start to disassemble, I smell the worst mell.
It was really really FULL of bugs EVERYWHERE.
I start to remove all park, clean with vacuum and then spray in each board the circuit cleaning solution. And then back everything together.
I discovered that everything star to work as the first day. So no issue, no errors nothing.
I can't imagine that bugs can be so districting for circuit.
Do it yourself, is more funny, and cheap

I'll never forget my roach story I used to recover cable boxes for a cable co. and recovered one from inner city apt tower saw that they were in my car later i put the box on my back bumper with the cord inside my hatch back. when I got home put it in my garage, they came through the walls and plug outlets infested my house. I put a roach bomb on my kitchen floor came back the next day millions on floor dead. never saw a live one since. Nasty
It hurts my soul seeing that being put back together without a deep cleaning.
I believe Robert should get a long time playing with this one after he cleaned it so well......

I resurected a Xbox 360 from a flea market that had roach infestation. The trouble is they crap across the circuit traces and short out the board(s)!
You have to put the console in a plastic bag with paper towels soaked with alcohol. The fumes will kill them. The tiny board that was for the controller was toast from the bugs. I replaced it and all was fine. The console me $9 on my original purchase. They CAN be saved sometimes.
Id love to send you my daughters iPad, she was devastated when one day it just wouldn’t power back on, it’s been in 2 shops here in the UK and both have had it for 3 days and both come back with non repairable, I’d happily pay for postage and return and even for you to take a look yourself, I think your great and love the videos you do, just wish I was that clever with things lol 👍🏻

Yeah I purchased an Xbox one Scorpio off of Mercari and apparently I wasn’t the 2nd person that encountered this issue where the seller refused to note in the description that it was bug infested and when I rated him I said it was bug infested and he wanted to message me saying that how do I know that the bugs caused the battery to short circuit. And I mentioned to him that I was watching a video of a professional which was u Steve and I explained that Steve explained it on how the bugs will short circuit the power supply to where it will turn on and then turn right back off. So he pretty much wanted to dismiss the claim. So yeah these sellers will fight tooth and nail claiming how do I know that this specific thing caused this issue 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️.
Not everybody in the world is meant to have a gaming console if they refuse to take care of their household. It’s very nasty have a gaming console in a smoke environment let alone insects coming in and out of ur homes and they refuse to call a bug company to spray their homes so that these bugs won’t return.
