  • Save money by Cerakoting Firearms at home. Why pay $50-$100 per pistol and $100-$150 per rifle when you could pay $500 one time and start Cerakoting yourself. It is simple to setup and easy to do by just following the steps in the Cerakote manual which you can find on their website. Below is the link to a video manual from Cerakote. Please let me know if you have any question.

    Good info. Thanks for sharing that smoker trick. I have one now but need a larger one. I'll use the double-up method now!

    Nice Video ! You made me remember how I started Cerakoting .I only used to phosphate and anodise parts so Cerakote was something completely new to me! I still use a Paasche H for small parts and single frame or slide for pistols .Makes the waste really small !

      @@tacticaltuner4217 My first setup though had a bigger value than 500 ,it was still way less than 1000 because I made most of the parts on my own .Sheet metal is cheap and welding is cheap too so I made my own degreasing tabs .Only thing I bought was a bigger CFM compressor and an air absorber because it's pretty harmful stuff !

    Thanks for taking the time to make this video. It is very informative. The only thing I can think of is that you did not mention your respirator, although I saw it hanging in the background.

    Thanks for taking the time to make this video, it is much appreciated! You have re-kindled my interest in Cerakoting. Lots of good tips for the hobbyist. I would never thought of stacking smokers to make an oven! I am going to go to HF this weekend and do some shopping! Again, THANKS!

    Thanks, it's nice to check out other peoples setups. I've done a few coating jobs over the years and am just now upgrading my oven. Your oven is way easier than the one I made, Probably cheaper too. I was just using a regular electric kitchen oven out in my garage, but you know they ain't as big as they look. A carbine is about as big as you can put in one without trouble.

      Sorry bud, I must have missed this post. Ya we started just using our kitchen oven also until we started doing bigger parts, then we know we had to come up with something else without spending a fortune. Thanks for watching bud!

    Awesome video! Thanks for posting! And as far as helping reclaim the media in your sandblaster, check out industrial vibrator motors. They make electric ones that you can just plug in the wall and bolt to the side of your cabinet. That should provide enough vibration to work the media back down.

    You gotta hook up a little dust collection to that blaster. If your running aluminum oxide like me I know your breathing alot of fine dust that is actually really hard on you. All you need is a real cheap vacuum hooked to one of the vent ports on the back of your blaster. Don't worry about wearing out the vacuum, worry about silicosis. Plus it keeps dust down in the shop.

    • @tacticaltuner4217
      @tacticaltuner4217  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ya we have a 5 gallon bucket dust collector, you just can see it in the video shot. Ya we just bought some parts from amazon and I sure made a big difference. I should have mentioned that in the video because this is an important part. O well...thanks for watching bud!

    Couple of questions:
    1. How did you come up with pricing each project?
    2. Where did you find customers?

    • @tacticaltuner4217
      @tacticaltuner4217  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just called all the shops in my area that did cerakote and got their prices then check a few online shops and checked their prices. I come up with an average of what others were charging and then just tried to stay below the average. Trust me word of mouth will get you plenty of customers, you can also let friend on FB know your offering service and then post project pictures on Instagram.

    So could i just get a good shop air compressor to run blaster and paint booth or do you need two different compressors

    Appreciate the info. I always have trouble loading barrels into the electric range and have ruined the paint jobs with the barrels touching the oven . Never thought of using electric smoker. WHAT IS THE MODEL # OF THE SMOKER you use. THANKS

  • @RTR-eh8dm
    @RTR-eh8dm 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did you invert the smoker on top? I noticed the heating element was up top. I’m thinking about doing this style oven and want to make sure I do it correctly. Great video, thanks for taking the time to thoroughly explain your setup.

    Anyway i could get the steps in how you did the double smoker ? Thanks.

    • @tacticaltuner4217
      @tacticaltuner4217  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just buy 2 identical smokers. make sure that can meet the heat requirements I talked about. First cut a large square out of the tops of each. leave enough of a top rim to put bolts through. flip one over and set on the top of the other upside down so the top openings line up. then clap the two together temporarily. now drill holes in the rims of the opening you cut making sure each smokes holes line up. then put bolts through the holes to join the smokers together. the just use a bracket or piece of metal to pin the doors together. you will probably have to flip the doors around to get them on the same side. then just flip the top boxes thermostat and your done.

    A small pancake compressor is generating enough CFM to run the media effectively?

    • @tacticaltuner4217
      @tacticaltuner4217  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      TACTICAL FLORIDA MODIFICATION LAB - you will want a bigger one for sand blasting but a pancake compressor will be enough for your air brush. I would get like a 13 gallon for sand blasting.

    • @tacticaltuner4217
      @tacticaltuner4217  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ll have to double check but I’m pretty sure we are s 9.5 CFM at 90 PSI.
