Fun Fact: Stewart Copeland snuck the bass line for Demolition Man into most of the tracks of the original Spyro the Dragon game on PS1 (which he composed for).
It's so funny to see Stewart Copeland on the drums - it's like he's so hyper that he's almost convulsing at the drums. Copeland is the *real* demolition man here - he' s so awesome he's scary! LOL
Stingo. Destined to be a Star. He's been touring since 1973. At least once a year you have a chance to see him within 50 miles from wherever you are in the World. Fuck being a celebrity. He's a Demolition Man, in action!
@@EM-yk1dw Sorry about the 5-month delayed reply. I was busy trying to play the DM bassline while singing the lyrics. Anyway, for this song Sting was probably thinking about Reaganomics. Idk. Maybe Sting himself can reply here...
i've seen them live on their reunion-tour in 2008. this exceptional musicality, all that class and sovereignty was still there. it's like watching an erupting volcanoe...

Do what Sting does here is FN HARD. Playing that bass and singing with very different metrics... headblowing.
The ska version of the song is better, IMO than the one on the album. Wish it had been included as a bonus track somewhere! For sure it would've been a hit if released in the late 90's.
I'm a walking nightmare, an arsenal of doom I kill conversation as I walk into the room I'm a three line whip I'm the sort of thing they ban I'm a walking disaster I'm a demolition man
Yes, taking notes on how to be the biggest band in the world! Actually, this was quite a bill. It was U2, The Beat, Gang of Four and Lords of the New Church on stage before The Police. Helluva gig. Meanwhile, Demolition Man is raging as usual. Later in the gig, during Driven To Tears, you'll see Stewart smile. He looks very happy to be killing it with his mates.
Para el que no lo haya notado, se ve a Adam Clayton y a Bono bailando al lado del escenerio, a la derecha de Sting. U2 fueron los teloneros ese día. Se aprecia mejor en el DVD remasterizado
Per Andy Summers - Sting hates guitar solos - you can see Sting kick Summers during his solo here - in an attempt to regain control. Of course he throws in a bass solo.
They'd have rehearsed knowing how much time they had for each of their solo's. I recall a Stewart Copeland interview where he said they had to keep a tight reign on how long Andy had at his disposal cause he'd go on for hours if they let him, lol.
@@Frisbieinstein So be it - and I'm happy for you that your life seems to be pretty uncomplicated - lucky you. I certainly do like to argue with friends on complicated issues trying each other for the best explanation or solution. But I prefer art to be brutally direct (if an artist has to explain, what the "message" of his piece of art is supposed to be, he's rather a professional seller to me).
Sting was eating pineapple slices dipped in icing sugar mixed with cocaine throughout the gig.....you can see this for yourself if you find the complete Police 1982 Gateshead concert video on YT (where this clip is taken from). At one point, Stingo has a ring of coke and icing sugar round his chops!

What a great bass line!
I went through my head for about thirty years before I found out where it came from.
Andy Playing on a beat up 63 Telecaster he bought for $200 in 1970. WOW
And he loved dafuque outta that guitar throughout their tenure as a band and for all I know still uses it live?!?
I got to see his Synchronicity tour Tele at the Scottsdale Music Museum several years back, similarly heavily used.
Nice to see Stewart took time from tennis to play a song or two...great band...best trio ever
LOL He did play Polo then.

Def Copeland plays to kill.
And ! He’s getting his laundry done at the same time !
Stewart is a finely tuned drumming machine. Wow.
Totally
It’s amazing that Andy Summers can play that 1 note for an extended period of time without missing it.
Little more than one note
@@johnrpenny2156at the very beginning of the song I meant. The 52 second mark shows him laying that one note down. Amazing!

Do you think he was singing about himself in this song?
@@EM-yk1dw Partly, yes.

My favorite Police song from my favorite Police album.

Praise be to God all the glory of that Wichita is the police, the greatest rock band to grace this planet!
Wow...good performance. Copeland doing work on the drums as always.

I need this dvd
The whole concert is on you tube
I'm a walking nightmare, an arsenal of doom
I kill conversation as I walk into the room
I'm a three line whip
I'm the sort of thing they ban
I'm a walking disaster
I'm a demolition man
The bass sounds sounds so straightforward and honest, almost in contrast to how the person playing is moving on stage.
It's actually a really clever and tricky part. There are extra and missing beats in there.
@@Frisbieinstein Not an easy bass line to play, especially to keep up with Stewart too! 😁
I was two days old when this was made!
I own this dvd,awesome
Mi banda favorita .
Just in case nobody noticed, that's Adam Clayton and Bono dancing at the side of the stage. U2 was the opening act that evening

Saw The Police on the Synchronicity tour. The Fixx opened. Awesome concert.
Think UB40 opened during the leg of the tour that hit Dallas.... too many years too many beers I can't remember for certain.
Someone get a time machine please: send me to this concert to see my two favorite 80s bands on the same bill : The Police and U2
Truly unique in their talent and performances! They were so good, so tight, so powerful, so sexy (are we still talking about the music ... oh good).
Wow, sounds good as always...
So good.🔥
Yes yes yes, drums. Mas de este 🥁
lejos la mejor versión en vivo ......

En que minuto?
Damn Sting is in that pocket
And singing too
Phenomenal
can`t believe that they made a Skaversion on their own, a very good one indeed.

billy sheehan,
Thank you for introducing me to Billy Sheehan. Your comment from 11 years ago paid off big time.
The concert.
When one is being absolute, and one is a negative one, one minus one is two.
👏👏👏👏👏👏🇨🇱
was this really 40 years ago???? great set by U2 beforehand
shit that's hot...
ohh damn, no sorry i thought you meant the album not the live recording
That's Adam Clayton and Bono dancing in the back/ Adam Clayton y Bono bailando al fondo, en el DVD se ve más claro
What minute?
Where you at the concert?
prefer the soul power mix
sting solo
Demolition man is Sting's nickname for Socrates. In otherwards, the Socratic method a la The Police.
camlpg hello, can you explain this to me? Me lo puedes explicar?
3:03 momentazo de Sting
I’ll have you for fuckin breakfast...
they cost like 10dollars including shipping on amazon
Ha ha sting kicking andy for so long guitar solo
how do u keep xx 000 people entertained with 4 strings.....answer at 3:00 :)
As much as I adore Sting, the MMEB-cover is much more to the point and thus stronger.
I like it complicated.

Nice bum on that bass player
Just kidding........
Wow this song is Ska as shit
Umm...no.
not keen on the "Ska"type arrangement of what is a classic tune..actually I prefer the Grace Jones cover off the Warm Leatherette album....
the police were pretty decent live, sting was great, stewie rocked but the guitar live just wasnt entertaining, nothing like eddie van halen live
Well I’m sure they’re all terribly sorry that they didn’t change the guitar to your preference
Andy isnt renowned for his soloing live .
Andy was more of a craftsman than a showman.
