  • This is the crown jewel of Red Rock Canyon and one of my favorite Las Vegas summit hikes. A long day with over 16 miles starting from the willow springs trailhead and some class 3 moves and exposure as you begin to approach the summit. Join me on an incredible early November weather day of clear skies, light winds, and social distancing at its finest.

    Hey Dr. Foor, I've been a fan of yours for a few years. Congratulations on finishing the 14ers! If you're looking for hike next summer, I'd recommend Eagle Mountain - the Minnesota state high point. The views of the boundary waters are amazing, and I'd rate the hike as being as difficult as an easy 14er.

    Grew up in Vegas. We did this hike in the early '70's when there were only dirt roads and few people out in Red rocks. One of my all times favorites. The Sierra club used to be very active back then.

    • @FoorYourSuccess
      @FoorYourSuccess  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting you bring this up Jack. The paint used on some of the rocks for directions is still there. I believe it was done in the 60's. Today it's meetup hikes that are the big thing in Vegas.

      @jackchivvis4188 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FoorYourSuccess There were no painted rocks, trails or cairns in the early '70's and few even knew this place existed.

    Love your channel and videos. How many snakes have you encountered around Red Rocks and the Vegas area? I saw you hiking where there were rocks and brush on both sides, seemingly perfect cover for rattlesnakes, and you were just walking through. Do you ever worry about them?

    • @FoorYourSuccess
      @FoorYourSuccess  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Wayne. While I'm sure there are plenty, I've run into just a few over the 15 years I've been hiking in Red Rock Canyon.

    I did this hike 4 years ago and the best part was that a pilot did a barrel roll in his plane right in between bridge mountain and the other mountains. I was right there at the saddle when he did it and it was relatively close- the plane was roaring above me. A treat only myself and my 2 friends would witness, as we did not see any other hikers all day.

    • @FoorYourSuccess
      @FoorYourSuccess  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Super cool! I've been on several summits and probably seen that same pilot doing those tricks.

    I've hiked about 1/3 of the RR trails, mostly easy/mod ones. I was able to do Turtlehead Peak no problem. What special equipment will I need for Bridge Mtn? I mostly fear sliding off the mtn as I'm not a climber so I don't have climbing gear. I carry the basics: reg hiking boots, gloves, camelbak.

    • @FoorYourSuccess
      @FoorYourSuccess  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you stay on the standard route from willow springs up rocky gap (as my hike shows), no technical gear is required and the most challenging scrambling is class 3.
