SubhanAllah, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the name! It immediately stirred up so many memories. It was 27 years ago that I became Muslim. I was living in Oregon and trying to learn Islam on my own through books and the internet (which was much different than it is now).
Alhamdulilah, a brother which I met over the internet, sent me a few tapes by Dawud Adib. I listened to them 100's of times. It was through him that I was introduced to dawatus Salafiyah. I didn't know anything at the time about all the drama that was associated with the "movement", I just knew the Islam he was talking about resonated with me and made sense. A lot more sense than some of the Islamic books I had been getting from the library or other things I had seen on the internet.
May Allah reward the Brother. He impacted a lot of lives, more than he probably knows! It was a treat to see this well done interview!

I am Egyptian. I was this close to atheism and Hizbiyyah when Allah introduced me to Abu Aaliyah Battle, who introduced me to Shaykh Dawud Adib. I am indebted to both of them for who I am today - by the grace of Allah and after his mercy and فضل.
I was a misguided Arab, and Allah guided me on the hands of Muslim Americans who were influenced by Malcom X rahimahu-Allah! سبحان الله.
I love Shaykh Dawud for the sake of Allah, and I ask Allah to reward him and raise his rank.

Mashallah, so good to hear from Sheikh Dawud Adib. I first met him at the East Orange Masjid. After Jumah the Masjid sold dinners. So one day I'm drinking a soda with my left hand while holding my plate with my right hand, so Dawud told me to drink with my right, I said my plate is in my right, he said put your plate in your left then drink with your right. To this day a appreciate that correction so much. Also i had a little pamphlet that some Christian organization was putting out directed to the Muslims which i gave to Dawud and he did a wonderful kutbah on that pamphlet. Also to this day I still have a cassette where he gave a kutbah on Defense in Islam. I was in Egypt from 2015 -17 and some of the brothers were saying that Dawud Adib was in Al Rehab and were going to see him. I'm not sure if he was actually there, i didn't go. So my thanks to Dawud Adib for being such a part of my journey in Islam.

‘There should be NO arguing over technical terms’.
Shiekh - Imam - Scholar are all technical terms.
I’m not trolling you nor am I arguing with you but you negating him being a Shiekh is quite INTERESTING to me.
      To say the least.
If he’s indeed NOT a Shiekh - in every sense of the word - what would you describe him as?
      A SHAAB? 🤣🤣🤣
      A novice? 😳😳😳
      A beginner? 😮😮😮

Barak Allaahu feekum akhi Najeeb for facilitating these much needed clarifications, I think for the next dialogue, it would be beneficial if Sheikh Dawud goes into depth with the history of his dealings with Spubs and their affiliate callers (as well as the history of Germantown Masjid) and how he started slowly disassociating from them and the reasons why, because there’s so much misconceptions spread about this, especially with what callers like Abu Khadeejah are saying about him nowadays, and I think the record should be set straight

Allaahumma Baarak Alayh, Shaykh has helped me in the 90’s to leave Sufism all the way and explained to me about using certain terminology which is not from the correct Methodology. WalHamdulillaah Allaah allowed him to be part of our growth and development for us to ascribe to As-Salaafiyah taking the time to teach us the basics and some Biidhnillaah. I was at a point after hearing some of the lectures and talks that my “Shahadah” was not valid since I was part of that “letter” cult, (F.O.I., M.G.T., G.C.C. etc) and then the Sufi Cult and the way I came to say the Shahadah back in the 70’s, and then in the Sufi Cult we said the Shahadah a certain way… after asking our Brother, Shaykh Abu Tasneem hafidhahullaah about my concern, he immediately told to say the affirmation (Shahadahtayn) and afterwards he said “you’re Muslim now” … back in 1999….Time went by fast Allaahul Musta’aan! May Allaah ArRaheem keep us firm and allow us enter our graves upon righteousness so that we are able to answer the Questions correctly since He Ta’Alaa is The Only One Who can, Allaahumma Aameen! I urge everyone interested in the history of Islam in America (especially among the indigenous community) to listen to this interview! It is very enlightening!
It is interesting that you mentioned the connection between Imam Warith Deen Muhammad and the Ahmadiyyah teachings because I learned, after serious, intense study that Drew Ali, W.D. Fard, Elijah Muhammad and Imam Warith D. Muhammad (and, according to some sources, Minister Farrakhan) had a connection between both the Ahmadiyyah and Masonic community. But I am also glad you cleared up the fact that some of Imam Warith D. Muhammad's followers today have come around to the proper understanding of Islam.
It is also interesting that he said, at 1:19:29 that his "Islam did not come from Madina but from America" because when Imam Abu Muslimah said something similar, he was boycotted and considered a deviant (including yourself), though he was just as much on the Salafi daw'ah as anyone else! And he apologized as well but his opponents refused to accept his apology or listen to what he said to clarify the matter! As Allah says we should be harsh on the Unbelievers and compassionate on the Believers! Too often, we do the exact opposite and I seek refuge from those who blindly following the people of error and from "be divided among ouselves" (even amongst those who claim to be upon the same daw'ah)!
I remember your work in the prisons upstate New York way back when and I must applaud you, however, for apologizing and I read your book "Letter to My Christian Parents" and you appear to have really grown and sincerely left behind a lot of the negativity some of our Brothers on this min'haj have associated themselves with that has given the Salafi daw'ah a bad taste in a lot of people's mouth! Which is a shame because the Truth deserves a listen and the oppportunity to correct our misconceptions about the deen!

To make a long word short: a lot of people are using the tem "Salafi" almost in an exclusionary and sectarian manner, making the term "salafi" the primary means of identification instead of the term "Muslim." As such we began to see ourselves as different instead of interacting kindly towards the ummah in order to call them to the correct methodology, which is the methodology of the salaf. I also sometimes shun using the word because the ultimate goal of following the salafi minhaaj is to follow Islam correctly, not simply to identify yourself as "salafi"

Subhanallah first I’d like to say May Allah bless this brother and forgive him of his shortcomings.
I really appreciate the transparency of his answers.
I can truly say that I became salafi through our brother Dawood from a tape I purchased at a masjid in Allentown PA on 7th st Masjid AtTuba at the time.
What was ironic is the brothers there didn’t like the Salafi Dawah
So when things happen in my life I’m led to guided to a thing that has some lessons I’m sure it’s Allah that has guided me to it.
I may miss the guidance, the blessing or favor but I’m 100% sure that Allah has caused it to accrue.
This is why for me when I moisten my young with the remembrance of Allah I’ll seek his forgiveness 70% of those times. 😢

Whether you agree with him or not, this is important history. If there are others with corrections and other perspectives on the time period they should come forward. For those in our urban areas we fail generation after generation because its hard to grow as a group of people not just individuals when you are not clear of your history. You make the same mistakes and think its brand new. His example of harsh treatment of those you disagree with vs for the sake of Allah correcting people is a huge lesson. Also it amazes me how people feel comfortable belittling those students that it appears sacrificed their youth, livihood and Allah knows best what else for knowledge. We act like it is not apparent that the effect of this that basic knowledge is not wide spread from amongst us. We continue to make the mistake of pointing to ourselves or a few others that try to learn. We are allowing our youth to be taken because we belittle the knowledgable. That is not what we see from those that have been successful with connecting their families to the deen.

This man could have been a great leader with all of his oratorical gifts, but he squandered them due to his hatred and jealousy of other voices who were on the scene. No, those of us who were there in the 90’s refuse to bring up Dawud’s name today because it is simply too painful to remember.

Current salafism and early salaf is not the same, so called today's salaf is the product of wahabists from petro dollars in arabia, they do say we are salafi and practice the true islam and others are wrong, they denied the good imans who lived 300 years after the prophet , the 4 four mainstream imams in islam, imam maliki, habafi, shafi'i and imam ahmed ben hambal as well, obviously these great imam lived their best time in islam. Today's salafist idealogy is the tool to dismantle unity of muslims.

They definitely don't deny the 4 emaams, I've lived in Saudia for 10 years and all the scholars here take from them, but their courts follow specifically Imaam Ahmed Ibn Hanbal. Don't beleive the hype!

The Prophet pbuh gave us Islam not salafiyya. I remember when salafiyya before it was completely morphed from wahabi islam to salafiyya, they didnt accept madhabs. Now madhabs are accepted. Then they started reading more and theyve started translating some ashari ma'turidi scholars. For example you'll find translation by Sh Saalih al Uthaymeen of Riyad as Saliheen or Al Albani writing on Fath al Baari of Ibn Hajr al Asqalani.

Knowing very little what happened but felt the impact.
I would hope you would make a “public statement” apologizing and asking forgiveness from the entire Muslim communities that were impacted . Many communities were damaged and unity broken. So it’s not just a hand full of people’s.
By Allah’s permission, hopefully your best Dua days are ahead of you.

Either speak good or remain silent. Many of the believers don't have correct abab. The Prophet Muhammad ibn Abdullah may Allah be pleased with him had Hikmah many of you who say you follow our beloved Nabi have bad manners and your speech is very harmful to other's and these individuals you attack pray to the same Allah you do and allow the Nabi like you do, and offer the salat like you do and are upon the same Aqeedah you are on. However you don't have good manners, and your Muslim brother or sister is not safe from your harm (speech or words or blood) Al Bayhaqi said faith has over 77 branches and good manners shyness etc are only some of them. If you silence is better than your harmful speech go check yourself go repent rectify your affairs. If you don't like someone or you don't like who they be around, addresses that individual one on one who bring your proof from the Quran and Sunnah foe your argument and come alone . Because the platform was for people lobe and appreciate our brother Shaykh Dawid Adib HafidUllah Aameen so how did you even get on this page it's brand new. Did not Allah has do not spy on one other? And our beloved Nabi said not to vilified one another this is from the four pillars of kufr jealousy envy rankor and hatred. We know them by heart thanks to Allah blessing us with Shaykh Dawud Adib. Too much speech with no benefit from it, it's better to just remain silent because some of you'll speech is like fire and hot coals ot lives us empty and with a bad smell!
