    For centuries, the Aeta tribe had inhabited Boracay Island, rightfully owning the land until commercialization encroached upon their territories. In their fight to defend their ancestral land, some Aeta leaders were even killed.

    Hi Marco, Hope you do a vlog on Smokey Mountain in Tondo when you get back to Manila. There’s a community of people living on top of this former rubbish tip. Ask the Filipino you where with in Manila to translate for you when talking with the residents about their stories , and I hope you meet up with Francis again , that was a awesome vlog. Greetings from Melbourne Australia

    You are the third foreign vlogger I've watched to use the Ati tribe as a subject, and that's an excellent move. The Ati are the original inhabitants of the island of Boracay, and the island rightfully belongs to them. However, one day the local government of the island decided to relocate and drove the Ati away because they saw the huge potential for financial gain in the island's tourism industry. They did this without even granting the Ati the privilege of working in the establishments that were built on the island, instead hiring people from other locations and neighboring islands. And because they were meant to receive priority but weren't, it greatly saddens and irritates me. This tribe is one of the underrepresented groups, and these opportunistic people are steadily destroying the islands' natural beauty by erecting mall and other structures. Because it is already overvalued, overused, and covered with enormous amounts of waste, the island is gradually losing its appeal on a global scale. I thought that every vlogger who wanted to go to Boracay should promote the Ati because they deserved to be heard and seen. And they ought to enjoy themselves appropriately and receive at least a small amount of benefits from the island's revenue, but unfortunately not a single dime.

    • @TeacherEric173
      @TeacherEric173 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@joelruiz730 The video that Marco played illustrates just how brutal the local government is to the Ati people. Both poverty and joblessness affected them. They were transported to a gated neighborhood and treated as if they don't belong to the society. It is theirs to own Boracay.
