Hell yeah, Tunnel Rat. One of my all time faves. Purchased during that funny little period where my brother and I were obsessed with buying Joe figs with large backpacks.
This was my favorite 1987 G.I. Joe figure. I liked how the backpack had the two flashlights, but when I quickly discovered that the flashlights were removable, that made the figure more enjoyable.
Nobody beats GI Joe! YO JOE and Great video! Here's some unless trivia- The original Warthog Sarge prototype used Tunnel Rats torso and whilst the figure did end up getting a new sculpt, the Tunnel Rat torso design remains on the Warthog card art. Now you know 😅

Folks, Michael Mercy is the real deal. The second he learned I had ALS he sent my girls a huge care package of treats. It was the balm they needed at a time they were worried about their dad. So not only did he make me a great Tunnel Rat video, he also cared for my family. He’s the real deal.
You and your family have been in my prayers, good brother. If there's anything I can do to help, please don't hesitate to ask. God bless you and your family. 🙏
Congratulations Michael, I’ve been following you for years with the best videos and wisdom Gijoe🙌... Great character Tunnel Rat, too bad I’m missing the flashlights to have it complete 🫠. A big hug for a big !
Such a great figure, and character! I love the way he was portrayed in the movie, especially that scene with the giant slug/worm thing, when he blasts his way out and that maniacal laugh while doing it. Thanks for the video! 😘👍
Ah TunnelRat. The one Joe you don't want to be down wind of after he completes a mission. LOL Thanks for yet another fun toy review. It's fantastic to get the full history on our favorite childhood toys.
BeachHead, Tunnel Rat, Monkey Wrench, Storm Shadow, Heavy Duty, Shockwave, Gnawgahide, Repeater, Low Light, Viper, Outback, and Tiger Force Flint are my all time favorite G.I. Joe action figures. The Arctic Blast was my favorite vehicle.
I never knew Tunnel Rat was based on Larry Hama, glad he got some representation in the media (Hama that is). I never had the original Tunnel Rat but I did get the one with the red shirt and sound backpack. Easily one of my favorite figs
G.I. Joe figures inhabit my earliest memories, this movie and the Rawhides are some or my favorite, but it’s weird to hear they came out in 87. I was 4, but I have clear memories of buying the figures at Fred Meyers. I wonder if they were just in stock for years?
I never quite understood why a "tunnel rat" (real thing) had a ginormous backpack and a rifle that was nearly the length of his body. His file card even reads that he'd carry a small arm, knife, and flashlight into an enemy tunnel... The actual figure itself though was amazing.
fantastic review! I always wanted a Tunnel Rat figure back then, alas I was a Transformers 1st kid, so I had to put my birthday and Christmas eggs in the Transformers basket, 1987 was a definite peak in toys! if not the Apex🎉🎉🎉
One of my-all time favourite figures. But even as a kid it never made sense to me for him to be equipped with such a massive gun and backpack. Probably not that practical for tunnel fighting.
This was the best GI Joe series of toys to come out

Awesome this guy and Lt Falcon were my first joes I got together when they we’re finally available here in Australia. And I freaking loved them.

Thanks Xaz! That's some interesting trivia! He's a SGT in rank and in body too!

I have that exact "fools gold" novel, didn't expect to see that today 😅
Such a great figure, and character! I love the way he was portrayed in the movie, especially that scene with the giant slug/worm thing, when he blasts his way out and that maniacal laugh while doing it. Thanks for the video! 😘👍

Thanks for yet another fun toy review. It's fantastic to get the full history on our favorite childhood toys.
My pleasure, thanks for watching & glad you enjoyed it. Have a nice day!
My favorite character next to LT Falcon. Until I found your channel two weeks ago, I had no idea he was sculpted in Larry Hama’s image.
Excellent review Mike,🫡 Tunnel Rat will always be a top tier figure!👍🏾
Great video and salute to Tunnel Rat. My favourite ’87 Joe and in my top 3 Joe figures 🔦🐀
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
Love the video and for us fans, the thumbs Always Break.😂

One of my favs! Yo Joe!
Sweet figure brother, one of my faves too!
Great figure. Loved / hated the flashlights. Wouldn’t fit and super easy to lose

Came here for that random evil laugh that I randomly remembered 37 years later.

Full Force! I mean... Yo Joe! Definitely one of the better later Joe figures.
a crime we never got Big Lob in the original toyline, maybe the new Super7 O-ring line will include him
Hoping for Super7 o-rings of Big Lob and Hector Ramirez.
I would buy o-ring versions of the male and female Joe troopers and Cobra female vipers. Never cam have enough army builders.
fantastic review! I always wanted a Tunnel Rat figure back then, alas I was a Transformers 1st kid, so I had to put my birthday and Christmas eggs in the Transformers basket, 1987 was a definite peak in toys! if not the Apex🎉🎉🎉
Thanks! He's one of the highlights of the whole line for sure.
When I was visiting family in the Philippines back in the 80s, I picked up Tunnel Rat. Unfortunately, I lost the flashlights on the plane ride home.
Seems to be a common issue with those flashlights.
Neat.
I did not know Michael Mercy was christian, I thought he was more new age. Very cool.
One of my-all time favourite figures. But even as a kid it never made sense to me for him to be equipped with such a massive gun and backpack. Probably not that practical for tunnel fighting.
He based on Larry Hama. I had the honour of meeting Larry last year and he confirmed this

@@MichaelMercy I got his autograph on this dope hard cover from my childhood. made my day
