      Thank you. So far I published one cooking video, I'm also planning to make a video about dehydrating. But my primary focus are videos from the forest like this one.

    Incredible find. I'm from Northern Austria, not far from you. Had a bolete find this year to last me 1, 2 years after drying, but it wasn't as much or as beautiful as these here.. too little rain here.

    • @LukesMushrooms
      @LukesMushrooms  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. And yes, rain is essential for good mushroom growth and lack of rain can bring a lot of disappointment for mushroom hunters.

    I like how you do not waste the bottom of the mushroom by scraping the surface earth from the stem of the mushroom. Good fortune to follow you through life.

      It depends on how much time I have - sometimes I add more, sometimes less. But I know people like to watch it :)

    Great video, some nice finds! Just wondering how you prepare the older ones with the yellow pores? Do you remove the pores and eat the top part of the cap? discard the whole cap and just eat the stem? Or do you eat the whole cap, yellow pores and all?

    • @LukesMushrooms
      @LukesMushrooms  ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you like the video. And good question. Quite often I remove the yellow / green pores from the old ones - it all depends how the mushroom looks like when processing it.

    Very nice video. Why patting on the soil after every picking?

    • @LukesMushrooms
      @LukesMushrooms  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. After picking I try to cover the holes in the soild so the mycelium stays safe under the soil. Other reason is that I don't like to leave traces after picking mushrooms.

    Is the part that is damaged not edible anymore? And how do they get damaged inside? Because of worms or something? I've just walked around the forest myself to find mushrooms. Didn't pick any as we don't learn which one you can eat and which ones you don't. We only learn they are dangerous.

    • @LukesMushrooms
      @LukesMushrooms  ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends how it is damaged. And many people have different preferences. I personally don't like when there are many worm tunnels inside, or if there is mold anywhere on the mushroom. Which country are you from, as you don't learn much about mushrooms there?

    • @DucksDirtDishes
      @DucksDirtDishes ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand ☺ , You live in the land of milk and honey (mushroom wise) I live in the Netherlands. We only learn how mushrooms can be psychedelic or ill-making. And in the stores we have l he champignons and if you are really lucky the occasonally shii-take / cantharel @@LukesMushrooms

      Those that I pick are edible, but they must be prepared well.

    What is the difference between bolete and porcini?

    • @LukesMushrooms
      @LukesMushrooms  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Probably mostly naming :) Bolete is a very general term. King bolete usually means ceps. Porcini also means ceps in Italian, if I'm not wrong.

    15:49 why the pat?

  • @Cohowarren
    @Cohowarren ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If it rains heavily now they will pop up and get instant worms it seems. Way too warm. That yellow stuff may be a slime mold.

      Went out today in Carinthia and yes very warm here also, but I found the biggest Golden Chanterelle I've ever collected (absolutely massive). Even hot days can produce some stunners.
