Dude this video was incredible, tons of information and research and a provided table for ease of access, subbed
This is such a good video, giving a detailed explanation of these products without really any nonsense. I would like to see more videos like this from you!
Thanks for this information. I’ve been trying to find in depth research on these green powders for awhile, and started to believe they were all hype. So glad I found this
Glad I found this video. I got off AG1 and I’ve been taking Green Vibrance for about a year now. Love this stuff. It’s a very complete super greens supplement and I mix it with my morning smoothie. My gut and digestive system are definitely working optimally.
How does Green Vibrance taste?
Great ingredients in Green Vibrance but it’s not organic. Anything not organic is potentially and likely sprayed with pesticides, herbicides, etc. produce, vegetable, fruits should all be sourced from organic farms.
your videos are so informative and really show your passion for health. Great work!!!
Thanks! Glad you like em
Dude, just found you and this video right now, and it's easy to see that you have DEFINITELY done your research for years most likely. I appreciate the video, gonna scoop up the peak performance from your link and give it a whirl. Thanks!
Wow your approach and presentation to nutrition is very hollistic and well rounded. Just subbed
That was an excellent review, man! Green Vibrance is definitely top notch and my preference as well. Nice work on this!
This was incredibly informative. Thanks for this great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Man, this video was fantastic. You echoed a lot of my own thoughts, especially with regards to the adaptogens. I came across this video because I started AG1 and am feeling subjectively better, but having a hard time swallowing (pun intended) the price tag. I started making the same spreadsheet you did to compare and categorize ingredients, and quickly got frustrated. Big respect to sticking through that, and thanks a ton for sharing. Liked, commented and subscribed :)
Thanks! Glad it was helpful!
Really well done video, thank you for laying things out so clearly both visually and verbally. You make excellent points to consider!
jake, this video is so amazing and engaging. great work. I have never seen this said before, so I am so glad you made this video. I have been eating pre-biotic innerfuel probiotic. I really love how it makes me feel. The limited research I did on AG1 made me want to try it because I can get my prebiotics + probiotics + supplements in one. The price put me off. Thanks for the suggestion.
It’s so ridiculously overpriced!
This was super awesome! Thanks for breaking this down for us!
Thank you for the very informative and well presented video. Really helps.
Great video! Good information. Loved the spreadsheet.
First video I've seen from you. Very helpful, thanks!
Jake recommends two brands: Peak Performance and Green Vibrance.
1) Peak Performance is the speaker's favorite in terms of taste. It is sweetened with stevia and is said to be easier to digest than AG1. It is also 100% organic.
2) Green Vibrance is the speaker's favorite on paper. It has a lot of probiotics and is the most nutritious of the three powders. However, it is the most expensive option.

Yep ~ Green Vibrance is awesome! I have worked in health food store or the vitamin aisles and this company is most complete. I love others too, like amazing grass and josh axe, ancient nutrition collection of powders💚
This is so thorough and helpful thank you!!
Ive been on AG1 for the last 6 months and have only been sick once, vs literally normally being sick every 1-2 months. It's made a huge difference, but even being able to afford it, 100 a month HURTS.
Just wondering if either of 1)ship to canada and 2) don't have ashwaganda as I am in the exact same boat, not really wanting it.
Hey Jake, great video! Any thoughts on Amazing Grass?
Thank you so much. I was just about to get AG1 but you have me thinking about Green Vibrance.
so thankful for your time and efforts. Any update on your further comparison? Would make a great recurring series 👀🤙🏻
I’m on some heavy meds and need to have monthly blood tests to make sure I’m healthy enough to keep taking them. After a few weeks on AG1 I was amazed at how good my labs were and decided to keep taking it. However I don’t like the price. Thank you for the recommendations.
Thank you for this. Just this week I almost bought more AG1 but then closed website cuz it was so expensive! I’m going to try one of these. 👍🏼
Me too😂
Definitely using your code the next time I reup on green vibrance!
From how to bonk, to how to stretch and balance, now healthy lifestyle content! Love the research receipts, data driven style, and anti-hype. Thanks Jake!
Great information Jake. Yeah, I have been very leery of AG1 from day one. Anything marketed that heavily always sets off alarms for me. And at the price they want, you could literally almost buy a farm and grow your own food lol
But seriously. Over a year and a half ago I made a video discussing how Ashwaghandha completely changed my life.
Having had 14 concussions and 3 skull fractures (hockey, soccer, and an older brother who loved watching professional wrestling and trying the moves out on me) I was plagued with migraines. My doctors and my neurologist’s tried everything and nothing ever worked.
And then about two years ago I started taking Ashwagandha 30 days increments for six months. And my migraines have completely disappeared. Completely. I haven’t taken Ashwagandha since. I don’t know if it reset something in my neurological system or what. But it saved me from a miserable existence.
I know that my story is anecdotal. And I don’t have any science to back up my claim. But my neurologists are completely happy with my outcome and so am I.
Again, great video and awesome information.
You can purchase a farm and grow your own food for $100 per month?
@@swashington942 I understand that you may find it self-entertaining to take literally things that are said colloquially but... when you do it in a public form, it just makes you appear like you're starved for attention, and using this 'tactic' to stir up engagement. If the best you can contribute to a health-focused topic is attention-seeking... you may want to talk to someone about that.
Great video, thank you!! :)
Thanks for the wonderful info, Jake. Any opinion on the Huel Daily Greens product? Appreciate it. 🤙🏼
Ah just checked it out. First impressions it does seem to have a lot of filler (oats, pea protein) so maybe slightly more towards meal replacement than strictly green / digestive supplement. The fat content could be good for absorption and they include chia seeds and flax for omega 3s so that’s good. Overall it has a lot of similar ingredients to the 3 products I looked at but it seems that the quantities of most of the good ingredients are less. They also use proprietary blends so it’s hard to tell how much is in there of each ingredient. It looks like they do use a lot of chlorella and spirulina which is good, and they use more mushrooms than any of the powders I’ve tried, could be a good thing, sole people swear by that mushroom coffee replacement stuff.
@@JakeLeary thank you so much for your detailed explanation, Jake. Appreciate it !! ➖❤️➖
Thank you for the analysis. I will try the alternatives for variety. With shipping and customs the alternatives are even more expensive though.
It would be great to see a breakdown like this for Huel daily greens. Been thinking of giving that one a try.
Info very informative where do I get it? Has pre and probiotics? Are they gluten free?
*ASHWAGANDHA FOREVER!!!!* 🙅♀️
Thanks for making this. I keep seeing people say AG1 isn’t as good as they say, but I haven’t found a lot of people giving a specific alternative.
Thank you so much for this video!
When I took AG1 for the first time the effects I noticed were that I felt calmer almost like my stress levels were reduced and my gut felt a little weird, so the part of your video that talks about the ingredient that is known to reduce stress was a big no no for me, so thanks for bringing that to light
Many of the popular greens powders are quite expensive for Canadians. I found one that's very affordable: Canadian Protein's super greens. I'm only a couple weeks in to using it, but, so far, so good. I've tried some of their other products and have been satisfied.
Where can I get Canadian Protein ?
@@Silkytoaster just search 'Canadian protein super greens', should be the first result.

I've tried many green powders. The one I've settled on is Markus's greens. It is just a mix of 30+ hard to acquire and carefully selected wild greens and nothing else. The effects I've felt this year are amazing. It's helped me heal from a few annoying health issues as well like fatigue and reflux.

I honestly was skeptical of kombucha, but after drinking it in the morning before I eat food and in the evening after meal, I found that it really did help with my digestion. It was noticeable after a few weeks of sticking to it. I started off just drinking half a bottle at a time because I didn’t wanna spend too much money and now I’m looking into making it myself. The taste really grew on me and now I like to try all the flavors. I would recommend it to anybody who has mild digestive issues. As a bonus I was able to swap my daily 24-32oz diet soda for kombucha and from what I have read since, I think cutting the diet soda may have helped my gut health too.
look at batch brew kombucha at home. super inexpensive if u keep up with it
I've noticed kombuvha and sourkraut daily are supremely helpful with gut issues.
I love Kombucha as well. The TH-cam channel "You Brew Kombucha" has been super helpful to me learning to make it myself at home.
@@Alice_Walker thank you I’ll check them out!
lol if you’d just stopped drinking diet soda you would have improved your gut health right there. You don’t need to drink kombucha. You just need to stop consuming artificial sweeteners and refined sugar.
Drink water. That’s all you need. Or teas or brewed whole grains. Actually, this might sound weird but NA beer is actually great for you if you want something other than water.
Brilliant job! Thanks
thanks for this. Just drank the first one today and was ill for a few hours. Never happened before. It seemed common. They were nice to refund me right away before I even asked, when I told them what happened. I’m back to only Huels, vitamins and regular food. Which always make me feel great. The taste was also horrible. I hope they improve their product and get more transparent about their formulas and side effects.
I realize that humans aren't dogs, but a friend of mine breeds dogs and I recall her saying on different occasions to the buyers that they should gradually taper down existing food while gradually increasing the new food being introduced. I think this is solid advice for humans, too. Hard-switching between products, and feeling unwell as you did, may be less about the product than about the hard-switch. Something to consider. Cheers!
I'm lucky that I actually love eating vegetables. But my friend has serious issues eating and is often nutrient deficient. She definitely needs to fix her eating habits and other things but for now, the best option for her recovery are these green powders. Thanks for letting me know some better and cheaper alternatives.
Veggies barely contain any nutrition. It’s (organ) meat, eggs and dairy which contain the bulk of nutrition in a human diet. All the rest is very hard to digest. The cellulose matrix in which the bulk of the nutrition of vegetables is found, is indigestible.
I was looking for your shoe recommendation/review video that you mentioned in one of your shorts. I am not sure if I just looked over it on your channel.
Sorry it’s called “You’re Ruining Your Feet” !
@@JakeLeary Thanks
Hi Jake would love a follow up video for this. Also please try Markus' Greens.
I’ve tried a few, AG1 has been my fave so far! For taste, just generally feeling better, and not having to swallow like 20 supplements instead.
It’s such a ripoff. You might as well take Align to get the same probiotics found in AG1
I’m considering trying it,are you sticking with AG1?
Yeah! It’s kinda out of my budget right now, but I have some injuries which include a head & neck injury so my mornings have been tough. Once I hit the 6 week mark I was consistently waking up early & feeling so much less brain fog. I look forward to it every morning. @@joannemosher3488 I noticed a slight difference along the way, but 6 weeks was when I felt like I gotta tell ppl this is so good for u. I also was stabbed so my gut is a mess, I have several surgeries and rehabs coming up so I’m nearly certain making up for absorption issues. It doesn’t taste bad to me at all, I’m not sure why ppl are saying that . They recommend 8 oz or something but I do 12 to get more water in first thing. It doesn’t have much of a taste. Very slightly sweet with a very faint pineapple.

Hi Joanne. I did AG1 for 4 mo's and it changed my life. Seriously. My bank acct got screwed up so I stopped AG1 for a month. I just now came online to re-order. And I saw these alternatives for half the price??! So I'm gonna try 1 of them.
If I don't get the same results tho? Then yes! It is worth springing for the $95.00/mo to get AG1. Totally. And I am cash-poor so it's a lot!
Just one old Dame's experience. 😉 Good luck!
The main point of the video was that AG1 costs twice as much as the 2 alternatives considered. If you can afford it, then price isn't a factor for you but many people can't afford an extra hundred dollars per month.
Amazing video.
Just some advice from a photographer. You can use a polarizer filter on your camera to get rid of the light reflection in your glasses.
Howard! You're sweet to volunteer help like that.
What goes around...

I hope you will review greens available here in Canada at some point. Green Vibrance shipping is as much as the product itself, and Peak Performance doesn't ship here at all.
See if BPN Strong Greens is, it's half the price of AG1. You can even get the Strong Reds and Strong Greens for the price of AG1 and they mix well together giving a great taste.
Wow, great idea to get blood work for a follow-up video! If you do, are you considering standardizing your diet to help control the variables? It might be worth reaching out to a nutritionist to get their opinion on the viability of data collected before starting as well.
Thanks for making this. Any thoughts on Huel daily greens?
I mix my Green Vibrance with Lemonade and it helps make it significantly more palatable.
You did mention that green vibrance doesn’t have chlorella but I looked on their site and the label does have that as an ingredient.
Hey friend. I did some digging to make sure it was an accurate claim and he is right. Chlorella was taken out of the product in the 19.1 version of Green Vibrance. Looks like they substituted it with sunflower lecithin and extra spirulina powder. The current formula, Green Vibrance 21.0, reintroduced chlorella back into the mix. I was able to compare both formulas as I have the 19.1 on hand and reviewed the current 21.0 version online. Hope this helps!

I'm from Australia and I agree that it isn't value for money. I've used Vital Greens on and off for fifteen years and find it annoyingly good. I did the nerdy spreadsheet thing with the ingredients and found them almost identical Vital Greens is $1.50 (AUD) per day VS $5 for AG1. I totally agree that it's sneaky the way AG1 lists their ingredients as blends.
Hey, I'm aussie and was just wondering which vital greens you buy specifically? Where do you buy it in aus? Thanks!

Thanks for the upload, I was looking for a more affordable alternative than AG! That product is from NZ so that may explain why it is sooo over priced!
Have you tried huel greens? I’m curious how it compares to these other powders. Would be great if you could review it!
Thank you 😊
One thing you should look at when buying any of these powders is the addition of pea protein, I am vegan and take pea protein daily and it’s relatively cheap so I don’t want it in my expensive greens powder. I have see as much as 2 grams out of the 5 gram serving to be pea protein, that equates to 40%!
pea protein is very inferior to high quality animal protein. Vegan, vegetarianism is the diet of the poor and malnourished:
th-cam.com/video/0b8Osg5MbfE/w-d-xo.html
You could simply adjust the amount of pea protein that you take so that the amount of pea protein in the greens powder, combined with the amount you take on its own, gives you the amount that you choose per day... right?
is there a way to get the part (maybe in liquid form?) of the part thats not pea protein. I agree, if its nearly half protein powder, what a waste of money that is..
I was about to check out AG1 because like you said they do a lot of marketing and they pop up everywhere. Then I stumbled upon your video. Thanks for this one. Very educational and informative.
Question to you and others here in the comments. What is your opinion of possibly rotating through 2 powders on a daily basis in case I like one powder which lacks certain ingeredients ? For example having AG1 on one day and next day go for Peak Performance.
AG1 made me want to drink battery acid. I'm not a picky eater, but the taste is unlike anything i've ever put in my mouth. Just thinking about it right now is giving me goosebumps. It tastes so sickeningly synthetic that i had to mix it with juice not to throw up. I only lasted a week, the possible benefits werent worth having PTSD every morning.
I think your idea of rotating the powders is great!
@@heidikamrath1951 I'm just not sure if it is the right way. But I would expect it shouldn't have any negative effect whatsoever

@glennherron9499 AG1 or Peak? I find AG1 to be better than Peak, unfortunately (considering the price); but yeah, it still tastes like green powder. If you haven't tried a bunch of them you may not realize AG1 is crazy good
@@CassidyHansen AG1 ... and I am used to protein shakes and other similar products. It definitely is a different flavor and consistency. Tomorrow, day two! LOL

I like Huel greens related to the vitamin D inclusion.
Not sure if you are still looking for company's that do mail order bloodwork, but I would suggest Marek Health. I have used their complete panel before and it was thorough and pretty elucidating for me personally. A little pricey, regardless of the panel, but I don't really have a standard to compare them against.
Seriously comprehensive solid video.
I'm not a fan of AG1. Cost and also the ingredients are lacking.
A good example is that their main ingredients are Spirulina & used to be Cholerella but if you look at the recommended dose its no way sufficient for what you want to consume.
Probiotics - many mention this benefit, including Huberman but its far superior and easier to attain this from kefir. Vastly higher concentration & importantly diversity. Diversity is important.
If you imagine your microbiome as a rainforest, you do not want to just plant oak trees. You want and need a wide range. Biodiversity.
Im a big fan of spurlina but especially cholrella and you clearly do not get enough from AG1. I have studied this a lot and even though they mention its organic this is usually a negative because most organic products are from Asia in less than great enviornments they are grown in.
Origin of key ingredients is key!
I take chlorella 1-2 times daily because of the chlorophyll (which is key for detox!) & also the CGH. For me this is the ultimate supplement and need very little else.
I also take turmeric & sometimes moringa/maca.
For a smoothie fix I like frozen cherries, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries with chia seeds, LSA, half lemon, apple cider vinegar, cucumber & some probiotic yoghurt.
Thanks!
Great video!
The only thing that has me wondering, though, is that you say that green drinks are not a replacement for real food. I agree that the powder shouldn't be the end-all be-all. But the powder IS food (highly concentrated at that, if I understand correctly). I take Green Vibrance due to its potency and ingredient list, since I don't do my due diligence and eat a high veggie diet.
If I may ask, respectfully, what makes a green drink powder inferior to the whole form vegetable? Is it more the idea that you're relying on the green powder to substitute for a poor diet? Or is the whole food more beneficial overall? Thanks.
To answer the question of what makes a green drink powder inferior to the whole food, I think it has to do with what was taken out in order to make the powder.
Just ordered Peak Performance 🤞🏼
Ok, it already arrived at my door! Contents in jar must settle A LOT because it’s only just above the halfway mark. But it tastes better than expected. Tell yourself it’s unsweetened green tea and you’ll be very pleasantly surprised with the taste!
I'd be interested on hearing your thoughts about the UK product 'HUEL', and how effective you rate that formula.
Have you ever looked at the greens and reds powdered supplements from Bare Performance?
Is Amazing Grass Greens Blend Superfood: Super Greens Powder Smoothie Mix with Organic Spirulina, Alfalfa, Beet Root Powder, Digestive Enzymes & Probiotics good?
Nice review. Very US centric though - what about us lot in Europe and the UK? What would be an equivalent I wonder...? HUEL is available, perhaps a review of that Vs. AG1?
My issue with any non-AG1 is i need the travel packets.
I hate the questionable lead content with AG1 that does scare me.
I believe though using d2/k3 dropper will at least make it harder for that lead to be absorbed.
Would love to see these other brands offer travel packs
Peak Performance has travel packs.

@@RichardHarlos try taking that through customs and explaining its nothing to worry about 😳✌️
@@Khanfuzed1 If it's not a carry-on, then it's not an issue. And if you only travel with carry-on luggage, then it isn't the case that you **need** the travel packets, rather, it's that you find them convenient.
Imagine turning down objectively better quality for convenience. What sort of value does that convey? Entitlement? Laziness? A lack of actual interest in quality as long as it's 'convenient'?
You only 'need' clean air, clean water, healthy food, and shelter from the elements. Everything else is a preference.
As you probably researced quite a bit in this area, whats your opinion on lions mane?
Anything that is advertised and hyped as heavily as AG1 immediately arouses suspicion for me
Hey, do you have alternatives for Europe, because it's 65$ shipping to Europe...
Our of the options linked, one only ships to the US, the other is more expensive than AG1 when adding the shipping to Europe.
im not sure on the quality of their ingredients but huel also makes a greens powder. tastes good to me and at least from what they are advertising is in it seems comparable. but then again ive done next to no research on whats the "best".
its unrelated but i dont like to buy anything that is advertised a bunch as that means theres larger margins going towards advertising and therefore a more expensive product, and im seeing multiple ads from ag1 recently.
Think of advertising as an investment. Some say that you should go all in early and become a familiar name in your target market. Others will say not to invest so heavily in advertising, to grow slowly and let the reputation spread word of mouth. There are merits and risks to both approaches, but it's a mistake to regard either approach as inherently bad or good.
I had a blood test done and was called 3 times. First was to say it was fine. Then they called and said I’m low in Vit. D3 then a 3rd call for low in Vit. B1. I’ve never been called and told anything was off before. Any suggestions on what to eat or take?
is there a point of eating any of these 'green powders' if according to research papers, amounts of magic things inside are just way too low to have any effect? should healthy diet be enough then ?
Just know that Green Vibrance comes with a label indicating that the product contains lead.
They all contain lead. It's leeched from the soil and cannot be entirely avoided, even when organically tended.
