It's so good to see you again. I've missed your videos! I am so sorry to hear about your Mom, but she's got a great support system in your family, and I will keep good thoughts for her recovery.
Hi Meagan, I hope I got your spelling right. Thank you for your video blogs and for sharing your Japanese adventures with us. I came to Japan two years before you, and started watching your videos from the beginning. It's been a long journey. お疲れ様でした。I'm sorry to hear about your mother, and I wish her a speedy recovery, and good health. The decision to go back home is never easy. I happened to get married two years ago, so my family is now in Japan, but If I hadn't meet someone I thought well enough to marry and start a family here, I would have gone back too. I wish you the best. I think people will watch your blogs no matter what, so you should continue to blog when you get around to it. Good luck. Dana
I am really sorry to hear about your mum and I want to wish you some positive thoughts for her recovery. Stay strong, okay? I also want to thank you for all of these wonderful years. I've enjoyed learning about your life in Japan, but you know what? I am not one of those people who will stop watching just because you're not in Japan anymore. You're such an amazing person and I hope you will still keep us up to date when you want to.
I am glad that you are doing great with your "new" life. Also I hope your mother will have a swift and good recovery! It must have been terrible for her to not tell you on the trip, but that just shows her strength and that she really cares about you I think. I will also have to make a decision to move away or not soon and the thoughts of leaving family and friends and missing important things is always in the back of my head. Glad that you could finally come to terms with it. I don't remember anymore when I subbed to you and I sadly forgot many good moments but I would like to thank for your the journey over the past view years. Your stories were always interesting and funny, even if you just rambled about random things. Maybe because of your upbeat, happy personality but you really helped to also make me feel a bit better if I had a bad day and give me a few smiles. Best wishes to you and your family, and as you said, this might not be the last video!
ive been missing your videos so much! never was much of a commenter but i remember when i first watched your channel i binge watched all of your previous videos and i have to say i started watching because of your adorable japan stories but stayed for your personality and your way of vlogging (and later for your second channel of Lets Watch!) tons of vloggers out there are in america and have jobs such as yours and still vlog! i think you should keep vlogging because in the end it wasnt just japan that made your vlogs be so entertaining, it was you :) at least thats my perspective. i think it takes great courage to leave a whole life behind (again!!!) and go back to home, and to deal with all that youre dealing with... you are awesome! but hey, this is all me, and i believe you should do whatever makes you happy. i hope everything turns out the best way it can for your mother and keep on being awesome :)
It's good to see that you're doing well. Although, it's too bad we didn't get to see your blue hair. ;) All the best wishes to your mum for a speedy recovery!
Great to see you again! Sorry to hear about your mom. Lost my dad to lung cancer 30 years ago when the medical tech wasn't as advanced so I know how hard this terrible disease can affect you. Get your mom on green smoothie shakes to help her recover from the illness and surgery. Really makes a big difference. Hope your new life in the USA works out.
Good luck to you and your family. Positive thinking really does make a difference. I love watching your Japan videos and would support and watch your America videos too.
I'm glad to see you post a video again! New follower, but I've gone back and watched a tooon of your videos. Thanks for all the insight to living in Japan - I'm headed there in August - and I'm sorry to hear about your mom. I will keep her in my thoughts!
Wish I could give you a hug. I started watching your videos a month or so before you left Japan and very much enjoyed learning what it would be like if I had followed your path (I applied for JET just after college but ultimately did not get selected). I did become an expat later however and lived abroad for 10 years, mostly in Europe plus a year in Hong Kong. The feelings you have about missing out, I know exactly what you mean, I struggled with that while I was abroad and after I came back and I believe it's very common among expats. I just wanted to say thank you for all the effort and time you put into making and posting your videos. It's been a great education about life as an American living in Japan and the Japanese and it's lovely culture. Thank you also for sharing such a personal family story, I'm sending all the positive energy I have to you, your Mom, and your family.
I agree with all the kind comments here, your videos have always been fun and inspiring; it's made a lot of people (including me) happy that you've had such a great time being a teacher over the years. I hope your time in the US is just as good, and that your family will be okay too.
Wow Sweetheart... so sorry to here this news. Stay strong for your family. Thanks for posting. Sending big love and many blessings. When I lost my mother it was over in an instant. You could see this as a blessing of time to say what needs to be said.
I went through almost the same thing. I moved to Japan last year and started working as an english teacher, but only a few months later my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and I decided to move back home. It gets easier, hopefully your mom will stay cancer free now.
I'm sorry to hear about your mother, I hope she recovers well. I respect your decisions, and I have really enjoyed watching your videos over the years.
So sad to hear about your mum! Keep your head up and don't ever give up hope. My fiancé's mum was diagnosed with breast cancer over 6 years ago and she was already stage 4 when they found it. It was very scary since at stage 4 the survival rate drops significantly (it's 22%) but after chemotherapy and a particularly rough round of radiation she was and still is completely cancer-free. Sending good thoughts your way!
I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. I lost my sister to breast cancer. At least you have the full story and it seems your mom has great drs. looking after her.
Thank you for sharing your life with us. :) I really missed you and I wish your mother the best for recovery. Btw, I'm from Australia so learning about life in America could be interesting for me.
I've watched your videos for years. It was a huge part of my experience learning about Japan and I thank you for that. You've always been a huge inspiration for me. Good luck with your life in America. :)
You and another person on TH-cam (epicnamebro) were both teaching in Japan, and both came back a completely different person. I don't think either of you would say for a second that you're not a stronger, better person for it. As life goes on, just keep in mind that you're not going to ever be forgotten. Not by those kids and at if at the very least, me and my girlfriend.
I missed your videos and understand that things are tough right now. I hope that your mom feels better soon. Also I wound not mind a slow down of videos because things might not interesting to vlog about so when you do post new videos there will be good stories to here about.
Sorry to hear that. Must have been quite a shock to come back to. And on the subject of family, seems like its kinda easier for people to stay in Japan long term if they don't tend to have a lot of family and have good relationships with them. Just my opinion and observation from all the videos i have watched over the years.
I hope that everything is gonna be okay, with you and your family I gonna say this, but you already know that we love you and whenever you need to share somthing happy, good or something bad, sad, we are always with you, to listen and feel with you. Stay AWESOME Meagan ;)
Glad your mother is doing good. I am glad to see your shining face :). My mother had a smilier situation however it was just a biennia tumor which was found in 2008 if not after 2008. Take your time because health is the most importance thing that any one could ask as in the time of your moment and your followers will always be with you when your ready to come back. Also being an waitress and a host can be fun if you put your mind to it :) :). My grandma who passed away on December 19 2014 from a 18 year battle with alzheimer was hard on my family for the same reason form passing away of your grandpa. I would have probably did the same thing as you did because if you have that feeling that you need to move on for what ever reason than it's a good idea to follow your heart. I am hoping that I will be a transfer student to a local university here in Michigan because I have had a gut feeling well more like a desire to move on from a community college that I have been for 5 years with little to no result of graduating and not being closer to my goals of assistant teaching English all around the world let alone having a bachelors degree and try to find a decent paying career in graphic design which I might not even be going for any more or I might because I spent five years on training in it. Besides that my brother have gotten married on May 22nd 2015 and the next in line who is going to get married because of the old age tradition of the leg pace for a single male who caught is next for marriage, well that was me who dove for it at my brothers wedding and well my male cousin girlfriend caught the bouquet of flowers whig is such an ironic thing that the two of us who caught the American tradition was put into an award position which never happen because it was dealing with family. So now I have a huge comment which is even huger than trying to find a suitable significant other to marry me, which I am still looking for my significant other for 25 years now because I had turned 25 on June first. Life have a way of teaching us many of things and of course knocking us down or pushing us up as high as the sky and beyond our wilds dreams that life can be scary place but a humbling place to live amongst others who have been in a similar situation time over time or for the first time.
Sorry to hear that. Please ask your mom to look into baking soda therapy for cancer patients. Cancer must have an acidic environment to do its metabolic functions. Using Baking Soda therapy will cause your body to become alkaline. You just must test daily with oral ph test strips to be sure you keep your body within the range of alkalinity. You can have other serious problems if you become too alkaline.
Thank you for sharing your adventures with us. I, for one, learned a few things and I hope everything works out for you. For the record, I think vlogging about being a waitress could be pretty interesting, but on second thought, it could possibly get you fired so maybe not? (Off topic, but there's an anime series called Working! that might fit the bill).
If serving people in a restaurant/coffe have plot, maybe....... XD The only 3 objectives, i see in that anime is: 1- Find Yamada family 2- Cure Inami fear of man 3- Popura getting taller (this will never happen lol) The new season is coming in july, im pumped XD
Sorry to hear about your mom Meagan, best wishes to her and your family. I'm glad to hear you're doing good. :)
Wishing you, your mom & your family the very best & strength during this time. I've enjoyed all your videos, thanks for sharing your life.
Best wishes for your mom.
It's so good to see you again. I've missed your videos! I am so sorry to hear about your Mom, but she's got a great support system in your family, and I will keep good thoughts for her recovery.
I didn't realise how much I missed you! I 100% believe everything is going to be fine. Having been on this journey with you was great.

Are you planning to find a teaching job or is it just difficult?
Praying for your mom
Your mom and your family are in my thoughts.
Why do you still put "Abroad in Japan" in the title?
"(Abroad in Japan)" wat
