When I started this TH-cam channel nearly 10 years ago it was in the wake of Leo’s traumatizing loss at the 2014 World Cup final. Back then the prospect of Messi being able to win the ultimate prize felt like an impossible dream, that he missed his one shot at eternal glory. The Copa final losses that followed made the feeling that he was cursed even stronger, and after the disastrous image at the 2018 World Cup it seemed like the very end of the dream. Seeing Messi lift the golden cup was always just going to be an image made in Photoshop, on FIFA career mode or simply in your mind. And as a Messi-obsessed youtuber I wished of nothing more than to make my ultimate video with the dream ending of a World Cup victory. When I got a full time job at a Swedish broadcasting company in 2021 to edit football content for a living I more or less left this TH-cam channel behind and it seemed that the World Cup video would stay just a dream. But on December 18th 2022 I was on the floor in one of the company’s editing rooms, crying, hardly able to continue working on a short recap of Messi’s career that was supposed to be airing straight after the final, with the World Cup as the crowning moment. And today, with a little more time and consideration than that short recap I am proud to release my dream video. Very inspired by Denis Villeneuve’s incredible Dune films and featuring my friend Kannan Vaidyanath’s stunning title graphics, this is my most carefully created but also last ever TH-cam video. I want to thank all you who have watched and supported me over the years, much love to you and I’m so grateful to have such a wonderful following. And who knows, a certain teenager might just have to push me out of retirement eventually…
It wasn't fair his 3 losses in 2014 15 16. He really tried his best but he had no help. I felt that in the end it will ended like a party. He did it at the age of 34-37 not at his peak but with a lot of soul and fighting this player is the heart of football. the most hated in history but also the most loved. I think that's what turned him from a legend as someone who does things in the best way to someone who just becomes clutch and a leader. And it turns out that he is the one who completed football 🐐*the undisputed goat*🐐

Winning a WC is extremely hard. Maradona won 1 and lost 1 finals with some pressure from the Argentinian fans, but never experienced the pressure and later on the hate Messi had to deal with because of his failures at the international level. His success at club level with Barcelona was turned against him. Psychologically, I can't imagine what Messi had to go through. Argentinian fans thought and expected Messi, being better than Maradona, should be able to win at least 1 or more WC's. But the reality is, football is still a TEAM sport, you still need a good coach with good players around you and don't forget some luck. They were extremely close in 2014. Germany was no pushover. That was a great team and it was not going to be easy as it turned out. 2018 saw that great game against France which personally I thought that Argentina could have won but didn't. In 2022, in a weird way, that first loss to Saudi Arabia probably helped the Argentinian team settle out mentally and the rest is history. But it all started with winning that 2021 Copa America. That was the catalyst and look at Argentina now, but most importantly, the GOAT finally got the trophies he and his country, a country that seems to have a factory of incredible players, deserved.

You really get a sense in this wonderful doco of how heavy the burden was for Messi his whole career to step out of Maradona’s shadow. I’m so happy that not only did he ultimately step out of his shadow, he surpassed it. We have all been lucky enough to witness his entire career and it will be us telling generations to come how unbelievable this player was, not only in his prime but throughout his entire career with different iterations of himself along the road to the end!

Maradona's greatness was stopping Messi from achieving. Once he passed, his soul got freed and somehow it all turned around for Argentina! And the biggest heartbreak of Messi's career, the WC final loss has become one of the biggest reason why Messi became the greatest player in the history! If he had won it all in 2014, then he would've settled for good and his greatness would've never been pushed beyond the limit.

damn man im a very a big cr7 fan and always used to argue against messi fans saying why ronaldo is better. i still do believe cr7 is better but im starting to respect messi a lot. this messi guy deserves no hate he just pays football because he loves the sport and always wanted to win the worldcup for his country. we all shoulf feel lucky to see messi and ronaldo play right before our eyes. you know when we get older and we have our grandchildren we will tell them how great those two were and what a rivalry they had. messi fans will be way happier telling messi stories tho the way he lost finals and at the worldcup that he was supposed to retire he won it and even more awards after that. we all should love football as a football fan and start to respect the goats. as for cr7 i hope he also gets a happy ending for his career but even if he doesnt he always will be my goat.
