What kind of challenge is extra healing, extra damage resistance, ranged attacks, and blunt weapons? Shit, just use a morning star with lightning on it and a blessed regular mace. My favorite build.
Via Ferrata Extra healing? Yeah. Inbetween mobs maybe, NOT in a boss fight, or stronger enemies like evangelists or the cage guys. ranged attacks? surely you jest. the earliest you can get a range attack for faith is in the farron woods. Even with 30 faith and a +3 chime I was only hitting regular hollows for 100-130 damage a spear, and i could only use 3 spears before running out of attunement. I used a fire mace for most of the game, until I got sunlight straight sword and lightning blade. Then I was able to stroll through the game.
All the boss fights should have been that involved. No shortcuts, no big damage. It shouldn't matter what build your character is, it should be adjusted accordingly and made to be a challenge customized for your stats.
I totally agree, the first time i entered Yohrm's bossfight I was very excited, but, when I realised I had to use the Storm Ruler, I got very disappointed. I was like "ahh, cmon, this could have been a lot more epic without that sword."

I'm not saying it was a bad boss, Yorhm is one of my favourite bosses in the game, I was just pointing that the battle, in my opinion, could have been better without having to use the Storm Ruler. Props to From Soft for letting me fight the onion bro. :3
It would've been great if Storm Ruler was in Ancient Wyvern's fight instead of Yhorm's. Like you do the whole running around to the ledge across the boss room, but instead of a plunging attack spot you'd have to pick up the Storm Ruler and fight the dragon while he's flying. Kind of similar to how you use it against Storm King in DeS. Would've made both fights better, in my opinion.

asmcint Yes it is a glass canon. It's not one of those 1 hp glass canon builds that actually make much more damage than this. Still, you could get this much damage with any other infusion and maxing the corresponding stats..
dificulttocure Where the fuck do you get glass cannon out of 30 vigor? That's generally the minimum for any high level build, and it's dropping below that that you get into the realm of glass cannons. The low vitality and relative lack of armor are the only things that instill the feeling of a glass cannon, and even then the armor was probably just to show how stupid the damage output is, such that you don't even need to wear much of anything because you'll out-damage whatever you're fighting!

Your skill in fighting bosses is impressive as is your damage output, however in regard to showing the power of a bleed build I believe you failed. I won't contest the decision to use a hollow build for bleed since hollow is probably the best way to capitalize on it, but using exclusively the carthus curved sword with the exception of the watchers fight demonstrates at best the power of a hollow build and at worst demonstrates the power only of the carthus curved sword, which is already regarded by many as the best weapon in the game regardless of its bleed. In showcasing a bleed build I would have imagined the focus would be bleed, but I think to properly drive in that point you would need to show the utility of causing bleed damage in different situations with different weapons. By all means use the carthus curved sword, but some bandit's knife, notched whip, claw (any of the 3), corvian great scythe, or katana action would have been well appreciated. I hope I don't come off as rude or bitter, I just thought I'd offer a bit of criticism that I hope would be constructive.
Looking back at the video I think you're making some good points. It was my first attempt at bleed build and my main objective was to make something that would inflict highest possible combination of bleed and physical damage for soul level close to meta. CCS has crazy good attack speed and physical damage on top of good bleed build-up, so it was my go-to weapon for vast majority of fights. If I had to re-do this video, I would probably showcase several different bleed weapons (like bandit's knife, claws and warden twinblades) for the sake of variation and to show that they're also viable (making a build around one weapon can get boring quickly, and someone might get the wrong impression that this one is only good when used with CCS).

Not really a bleed build. You were using the CCS. An opponent will eventually bleed as a side effect yes, but it does absurd damage per hit. Try it again with Grave Warden swords and it'll be a bleed build.
So I'm currently doing a bleed build, high DEX, high-ish Luck, with blood-infused warden blades (the drop rate on those suckers is so broken, took me two goddamn hours to get them...). I know it's not optimal, but I don't want to turn my character into beef jerky, and I don't like relying on consumables. The build is still pretty damn good, but Pontiff was a pain in the ass. The problem, as I expected, was that it's pretty hard to actually get the bleed effect to trigger on him, since he moves and attacks so damn much. When I could land a full combo, it took out a third of his health bar, it's just that I could very rarely seem to do it (yeah, I know, parrying, unfortunately I suck a pile of dicks at that). In fact, Pontiff still seems to be the (non-optional) boss I always have the most trouble with on highly specialized/meme builds...I also have the sellsword twin blades on Sharp as a backup for stuff that's immune to bleed, and I'll think about picking up the Carthus Curved Sword, I guess.

Best Bleed Build: Stat Requirements - at least 40 LUCK and high DEX, 12 INT and 12 FTH; high END is a plus Infuse a weapon with innate bleed with Hollow Infusion. The best weapons I have found in the category are the Warden's Twinblades and the Crow Talons. Weapons with the ability to be dual wielded such as Gotthard's Twin Swords and Brigand Daggers work well too. Although not able to be infused, Anri's Straight Sword has innate Hollow infusion and can be buffed. In your main hand equip your weapon. In your off hand equip the Pyromancy Flame (it's level doesn't matter) and a small or medium shield for parrying. Spells - Carthus Beacon Rings - Pontiff's Right Eye, Sage's Ring (preferably +2), Lloyd's Sword Ring, Hornet Ring Item - Carthus Rouge, Kukri Technique - With your Hollow infused Twinblades or other bleed capable weapon in your main hand, use the spell Carthus Beacon with the Pyro Flame in the off hand. This is like equipping a second Pontiff's Right Eye and the effects of both do stack (if you wanted to exacerbate even further, carry the Old Wolf Curved Sword in your off hand). After buffing with Carthus Beacon, use a Carthus Rouge on your weapon to greatly increase it's bleed output. Press Triangle/Y to dual wield or keep your small shield up for parries. The Sage's Ring allows you to cast Carthus Beacon much faster, Lloyd's Sword Ring increases your physical damage when you're at full HP, and the Hornet Ring greatly increases the damage of critical attacks (ripostes, guard breaks, and backstabs). This build melts most bosses very quickly and has been effective in PvP for me as well. The only boss that it was not effective against was Dragonslayer Armor because he has very his slash and bleed resist.
i like darrks souls, it reminds me of those old ps2 games my cousin had, the boss used to take a good 30min. not some 3 times quick-time event you see nowadays. it feels good
This guy was way ahead of his time. Game was only out for six months when this video was released and he was destroying these bosses like they were nothing. He was basically doing "no hit runs" before they were even an official thing.
I know bleed builds are really strong, but SL125 is pretty damn high for most bosses on NG+. I mean, if you're completely naked and a direct hit from Wolnir barely does any damage to you, you might be over leveled. Even if you're using Flynn's ring, that's a little telling
Jimmy Joseph You know, I can't really answer you when you just edit Yhorm out and replace him with Wolnir (unless I stumble upon it accidentally), that stuff doesn't pop up in my notifications Anyway, on regular ng most of Wolnir's attacks are relatively harmless even to characters with low health (most people get to him around sl30-40 on their first playthrough), only deadly attack being his smoke breath. On ng+1 he gets noticeable health boost but his damage doesn't really improve a lot, so it's not surprising that he doesn't do much against character with 30 vitality that's been embered up after Abyss Watchers fight, even if that character has no armor at all.
Daniel N it looks like it is, because as much as I like the stormruler it makes the battle way too easy. It feels badly implemented, it should've been something to weaken Yhorm not to completely demolish him, and that if you have onion bro with you, you shouldn't be able to get the weapon until after you kill Yhorm, because damn stunlocking Yhorm as funny as it is is way too easy.
Great clip. Great fights. Love bleed builds, although I'm more familiar with bleeds in 'Elden Ring,' right now. I'm gonna go with carthus rouge, instead of the blood gem, because it's what you're doing.

This thread is funny. It's what goes through my head when people write RIP in peace. I'm also neurotic about how people pronounce the letter "H" out loud, when they say "Haych". It's "Aych". There is no "H" in "Aych". Cretins everywhere.
Me and a friend did a playthrough together with magic and miracles. At Wolnir we ended up not just one-shotting his first ring, but we made it blow up twice, leaving him with under half health. After we destroyed the 2nd ring he had but a few pixels of health left. Just hitting the 3rd ring once was enough for him to die without it exploding.
I just stayed up all night and beat the game in 4/5 hours with no help and I used a bleed build other then my usual quality build I can honestly say it's balanced (thats a fucking lie)
I'd say this vid shows the power of a Hollow build more so than a bleed build. Bleeds have always been very powerful, but the base damage of a bleed build is relatively weak, so when you face one of those bosses that doesn't bleed, you are at a disadvantage. You go around this by using a hollow weapon and just bleed buffing it when you can gain from it. I'd say that the "mowing down" and ridiculous damage is from the hollow infusion, moreso than the occassional bleed.
Crying Ocelot bleed build is very op. Makes bosses too easy that it feels like you're cheesing the game. But if you're in pvp and bitching about a randoms bleed build maybe you should get good and learn to time a party correctly.

ng+ is pretty easy in DkS3 to be fair. i'm pretty amateur and i got to ng+3 before it started feeling as tough as previous ng+1 in the previous games

So I'm currently doing a bleed build, high DEX, high-ish Luck, with blood-infused warden blades (the drop rate on those suckers is so broken, took me two goddamn hours to get them...). I know it's not optimal, but I don't want to turn my character into beef jerky, and I don't like relying on consumables. The build is still pretty damn good, but Pontiff was a pain in the ass. The problem, as I expected, was that it's pretty hard to actually get the bleed effect to trigger on him, since he moves and attacks so damn much. When I could land a full combo, it took out a third of his health bar, it's just that I could very rarely seem to do it (yeah, I know, parrying, unfortunately I suck a pile of dicks at that). In fact, Pontiff still seems to be the (non-optional) boss I always have the most trouble with on highly specialized/meme builds...I also have the sellsword twin blades on Sharp as a backup for stuff that's immune to bleed, and I'll think about picking up the Carthus Curved Sword, I guess.

Best Bleed Build:
Stat Requirements - at least 40 LUCK and high DEX, 12 INT and 12 FTH; high END is a plus
Infuse a weapon with innate bleed with Hollow Infusion. The best weapons I have found in the category are the Warden's Twinblades and the Crow Talons. Weapons with the ability to be dual wielded such as Gotthard's Twin Swords and Brigand Daggers work well too. Although not able to be infused, Anri's Straight Sword has innate Hollow infusion and can be buffed.
In your main hand equip your weapon. In your off hand equip the Pyromancy Flame (it's level doesn't matter) and a small or medium shield for parrying.
Spells - Carthus Beacon
Rings - Pontiff's Right Eye, Sage's Ring (preferably +2), Lloyd's Sword Ring, Hornet Ring
Item - Carthus Rouge, Kukri
Technique - With your Hollow infused Twinblades or other bleed capable weapon in your main hand, use the spell Carthus Beacon with the Pyro Flame in the off hand. This is like equipping a second Pontiff's Right Eye and the effects of both do stack (if you wanted to exacerbate even further, carry the Old Wolf Curved Sword in your off hand). After buffing with Carthus Beacon, use a Carthus Rouge on your weapon to greatly increase it's bleed output. Press Triangle/Y to dual wield or keep your small shield up for parries. The Sage's Ring allows you to cast Carthus Beacon much faster, Lloyd's Sword Ring increases your physical damage when you're at full HP, and the Hornet Ring greatly increases the damage of critical attacks (ripostes, guard breaks, and backstabs).
This build melts most bosses very quickly and has been effective in PvP for me as well. The only boss that it was not effective against was Dragonslayer Armor because he has very his slash and bleed resist.

I don't think you can use carthus rogue on a weapon infused with a blood gem. He's probably using a hollow gem in order to build up the bleed quicker.

This guy was way ahead of his time. Game was only out for six months when this video was released and he was destroying these bosses like they were nothing. He was basically doing "no hit runs" before they were even an official thing.

Bleed is one of those effects that is an absolute MUST with most builds cause the damage you can cause is outrageous!!

Where you using a keyboard to move your camera? A lot of the camera movements seemed inconsistent to me, especially during the Crystal Sage fight.

I know bleed builds are really strong, but SL125 is pretty damn high for most bosses on NG+. I mean, if you're completely naked and a direct hit from Wolnir barely does any damage to you, you might be over leveled. Even if you're using Flynn's ring, that's a little telling

Jimmy Joseph You know, I can't really answer you when you just edit Yhorm out and replace him with Wolnir (unless I stumble upon it accidentally), that stuff doesn't pop up in my notifications
Anyway, on regular ng most of Wolnir's attacks are relatively harmless even to characters with low health (most people get to him around sl30-40 on their first playthrough), only deadly attack being his smoke breath. On ng+1 he gets noticeable health boost but his damage doesn't really improve a lot, so it's not surprising that he doesn't do much against character with 30 vitality that's been embered up after Abyss Watchers fight, even if that character has no armor at all.

Daniel N it looks like it is, because as much as I like the stormruler it makes the battle way too easy. It feels badly implemented, it should've been something to weaken Yhorm not to completely demolish him, and that if you have onion bro with you, you shouldn't be able to get the weapon until after you kill Yhorm, because damn stunlocking Yhorm as funny as it is is way too easy.

Me and a friend did a playthrough together with magic and miracles. At Wolnir we ended up not just one-shotting his first ring, but we made it blow up twice, leaving him with under half health. After we destroyed the 2nd ring he had but a few pixels of health left. Just hitting the 3rd ring once was enough for him to die without it exploding.
This goes to show how unbelievably OP bleed builds are, and they work equally well for PvP and PvE.

I just stayed up all night and beat the game in 4/5 hours with no help and I used a bleed build other then my usual quality build I can honestly say it's balanced (thats a fucking lie)

why are people crying so much here. I mean it's a game and why don't try a funny build. Everyone is like: fun is not allowed here.
I'd say this vid shows the power of a Hollow build more so than a bleed build. Bleeds have always been very powerful, but the base damage of a bleed build is relatively weak, so when you face one of those bosses that doesn't bleed, you are at a disadvantage.
You go around this by using a hollow weapon and just bleed buffing it when you can gain from it. I'd say that the "mowing down" and ridiculous damage is from the hollow infusion, moreso than the occassional bleed.

Crying Ocelot bleed build is very op. Makes bosses too easy that it feels like you're cheesing the game. But if you're in pvp and bitching about a randoms bleed build maybe you should get good and learn to time a party correctly.
