Great video, that will be a game changer for you. Being able to charge fast is key! This past weekend I realized I could duel charge my Bluetti EB55 from both my 110 inverter and 12V at the same time. Also learned about a 12v to 24v booster which I'm going to install for my smaller second battery and charge that twice as fast.
That’s pretty cool Bluetti let’s you do that. That is one thing on the Goal Zero. they specify total input wattage, but you can combine the same way, it’s just regulated. Excluding from charging from the alternator with the Yeti Link.
15:29 - Why do you care that your extension cable only has hot/neutral? The 120AC plugin's on the Yeti 1500X (and other X models) does not actually have a ground prong plugin. There is a "slot" there to allow various electric cords to fit, but it is not a ground.
Finally someone who did a video on this, great job! Could the EC8 cable reach the end of the bed? Or is that the furthest it would go after routing it? Thanks!
We are happy you found value in the video! When we were trying to research this we couldn’t find any videos on it so thought it would be useful to others 😃 The cable could have gone a little further, about 1-2 feet into the bed, however where you plug the EC8 extension cable into the cable that joins to the battery, we could have put that lower in the engine bay, but since we do a lot of water crossings and driving through some deep water down here in Florida we decided it was better to keep that part up higher 😅
Just installed my yeti car link on my 2022 Chevy Tahoe z71. I’m roughin it for the next year and a half. I wish my Tahoe had an easier way to go through my fire wall. Just saying. My yeti car link looks entirely different from yours. Not sure if the manufacturer wanted this changed for some reason. I just bout this car link two weeks ago and need my battery bank to keep my ICECO running.
your link is probably the new version, we have had issues with ours and they just recalled them all replacing them with a new reworked version. don't be concerned by this though the system works great and likely won't have the same issue with the new version. its also great that they are good company and back their products like this. we have just recently updated ours with the new version they sent us to replace our other one.

Your concern about feeding the EC8 cord through the firewall is totally valid, you probably could get it through but there is no way it would be an easy task as the connecting ends are quite large. If wanting to get it in the cab we would recommend going below the vehicle and coming up one of the many floor grommets, the length of the cord should be able to reach just about anywhere your trying to get it. Just be sure to keep the cord as protected as possible.
With a dyi kit, it will be more versatile and will work with multiple different generators. And maybe few $100 cheaper. But you do get the peace of mind with GZ kit
I have a similar install but with the 3000x about 9 months ago and I’m here to tell you that the alternator charging DID NOT live up to its promise. This past weekend I drained the battery down to 40%, drove 5 hours straight and it lost 2%, at 38%. I have a Dometic refrigerator plugged onto it that draws 57w when it turns on. At the end of my trip, the Yeti vehicle link charging couldn’t even keep up with my fridge, let alone topping off the battery. I contacted Goal Zero and they gave some lame excuse that every alternator is different. But you don’t see that disclaimer when you buy the vehicle link kit. The promise is we could charge 750w. Mine didn’t even come close. It toggled between a little over 100 and 10w. For those who looked to the Yeti Goal Zero for an off-road solution, please look elsewhere. My nine-month experience with it has been a MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT and I am ready to rip it out of my truck and trash it. I invested $4000+ into the 3000x + vehicle link kit + mounting material to realize it DID NOT live up to what Yeti advertised. By the way, I’ve also experienced multiple times with the system freezing up where I’d need to do hard reset too. This is not a one-off situation as I’ve put the second, exact system into another truck and it too is experiencing the same exact problem. Save your money and headaches and look at other brands. Until Yelti addresses the high alternator charging problem, don’t waste your money and time.
If you have a "smart alternator" you might want to install a 12V 40A or 60A DC to DC On-Board Battery Charger first between the battery connection and the cable connection. Connect the "smart" cable to a fuse box key on fuse.

How would you route the cable inside of the vehicle? Looks like the plug is way to big to fit it through the firewall.

Yes the front one will still work with this just you must not charge with both at the same time!

I had the 1000x and yeti link and I would get 650ish watts while driving. Now upgraded to 1500x and yeti link only gives out 350-450 watts. Any ideas?

I had same issue but did full battery update it was good to go!
