Metronome, simultaneously my favorite and second least favorite move. It's frustrating as hell, but when you get good rolls (i.e. Roar of Time, Sheer Cold, etc.) that actually hit it's one of the most satisfying things ever.

Still can't believe to this day that you get a third through the map and you see a fisherman with 6 pokemon (initial reaction "crap") and then all that can happen is a little splash... I'm still surprised they never made it wet your pokemon and do something like lower accuracy or even just lower the effect of fire...
@@michaelevans4265 i think its because in japanese the move is called Hop but for some reason translated to splash. Similar to how Evil got translated to Dark.
@@odin8578 It's one of those things where it was ambiguous as to whether it was Hop or Splash, and they chose one and it was wrong. I'm not sure that explains Dark though.

I’m guessing the one hit KO moves work because they have metronome accuracy, which is much larger than any other one hit KO move because it cannot miss
Wait, if OHKO moves have Metronome's accuracy, does that mean that you can miss if you get Swift?
Nope; that's not how that works at all, Metronome does not have a dedicated accuracy. In this case, it's most likely because the relevant Pokemon has 20+ levels on its opponents, giving each of the attacks an accuracy of around 50, so it's about the same as three coin flips; not the most likely but nothing insane.
Or, One hit KO moves are as likely to hit as Scald is to score a burn. It's not that high, but it's not that low either.
Ya know, I can't believe it's taken me this long to think of it but a good challenge would be an Assist only challenge:
Assist is a move that uses a random move from the rest of your team, so the idea is you can only use your first slot pokemon and it ONLY has the move Assist.
or make it so all pokemons have assist and 3 other moves so it's physically possible

So out of all of your challenge videos I feel like this was your most stressful challenges that you've ever done. 15:37 Dragon Rage is a good move to use against a Clefable. Not since 2013 have I heard such a claim.
On the route just before rock tunnel there is a bug trainer at the top of the route. He has two kakuna's when you first fight him but if you rematch him with the versus seeker he has two Beedrills that give 500 exp each if I remember correctly. I used to grind there when I was younger, it's a good spot to grind and somewhat early as well. Not sure if it's helpful now but I don't think many people know about this.
I like to grind off the Crush Kin and others on the Sevii Islands. They're fine for exp and they're later in the game.
He's always got the Beedrills. If you want to grind bugs, the Bug Catcher on Rt. 3 has 2 Butterfree and a Beedrill, which is neat.
I used to grind in 3rd island, with the kingler guy and couple trainers more.
That biker spot outside of celadon is clearly the best grinding location
RockyRoadstheRogue I used to grind off the karate girl and her black belt boyfriend on 1st island just outside Mt. Ember spa. Grinding there for the elite four was brutal but I was determined to get a 68 Blastoise with hydro pump.
3 OHKO moves kit from Metronome in a row?
Metronome has access to 336 moves in Gen 3 (354 moves in Gen 3 - a list of moves that Metronome can't access). 4 of the moves Metronome can hit are OHKO moves (Fissure, Guillotine, Horn Drill and Sheer Cold). If we don't care for what OHKO move you use, you have a 1.19% chance of using any OHKO move once. This decreases to 0.000169% for any 3 OHKO moves in a row. All OHKO moves have 30% accuracy, so hitting a 30% accuracy move 3 times in a row is a 2.7% chance, assuming no accuracy debuffs.
You got 0.00000456% odds there. If I have done the math wrong, let me know. [EDIT: This is wrong for this particular instance due to OHKO moves being slightly more interesting, correct value is in Edit section for this battle, I didn't do enough research.]

Edit: Ok, so OHKO moves increase accuracy by 1% the higher the level difference between the two Pokémon. THe active Pokemon is 19 levels above the Nidorino, 15 levels above the Nidoqueen and 21 levels above the Kangaskan, so rather than cubing a constant 30% accuracy, you instead multiply by each separate accuracy value for each Pokemon. This increases your chances slightly, to 0.000019% Keeping the old value there as the minimum value for hitting 3 OHKO moves in a row via metronome.

To be fair that chance is SLIGHTLY increased by how many levels you have over your opponent, but idk by how much, and regardless it's not a very high amount given the levels he has.
Using the answer that you got, that is a smaller chance that getting a NAT20 in D&D, then proceeding to boot up your game of Pokémon Silver and immediately finding a shiny as soon as you walk into the grass.
Always enjoy a good metronome run. Thank you for doing it, as even though I know you could make it all the way through, but a tough and time consuming challenge.

Suggestion: I know you’ve gotten requests to show footage between major battles, and I understand why you *don’t* do that. I think it would be better for viewers if you included transitions between the major battles. Like even seeing your character approach and speak to the next trainer/gym leader/rival would make the viewing experience more pleasant. Otherwise it’s just one continuous Pokémon battles that kinda takes you out of the journey. Sure, there’s your script but the visual transitions would help a lot.

Can you do a challenge where you can only can use STATUS moves!? It doesn’t matter what gen you do it in but someone did this on heartgold.
Or there’s a challenge where you can only use delibird because it’s Christmas so... WYNAUT! Because it only learns present via level up but It gets some pretty good tm moves but if you do this challenge on gen 3 or higher then your accuracy luck will be hard!
I was thinking that! Only status moves would be neat. I've already thought of a great strategy. If he grabs a Roselia, teaches it Toxic, Leech Seed, Ingrain, and Rest, along with another Pokemon that knows Confusion, he could beat it quite easily.

Clunk 42 confusion is a attacking move, do you mean a status effect of getting confused like supersonic or confuse ray
Toxic + Leech seed is broken in gen 1. He'd have issues with any and all grass/poison types though.
The delibird challenge must be on gen 3 or higher because of hustle which increases attack but lowers accuracy to make it more harder!

I love how the play by play commentary is just “For this first pokemon I went for Confusion, then I missed with Rock Throw, followed by a failed Fake Out, got him to red HP with Fury Swipes, lowered his attack with Growl, boosted my evasiveness with Double Team, then finished him off with Flamethrower.”

These videos are very grindy and I respect that.
You know, this would be a lot more manageable in Pokémon Lets Go since Grinding doesn't require battles and Metronome is actually less random because it only chooses moves from gen 1. Also, the Metronome Move Tutor for FireRed and LeafGreen could have been a huge help because you could have use a Metronoming Snorlax as your fifth team member or even a Kadabra if you are feeling risky

I mean, you do a great work, take a lot of hours of your time to do that, and it’s so cool!
