I think it depends on where you are from and how English is used there. For example, in the US at least, there’s plenty of people who feel comfortable at looking at a group of both men and women and saying “let’s go guys!” to refer to the whole group. But this sentence is understood completely differently in other English speaking countries. (I made this mistake got in trouble while doing a presentation to a company abroad😢) English is just a really weird language with a lot of variation. I didn’t think twice about the usage of buddy until you mentioned it honestly.
I call everyone buddy including my 2 best friends (both females), my mother (most definitely a female), and both of my sisters (if you couldn’t guess, yes, they are also females )
Theas sound scary as you start thinking about it. It sounds lije listener is more like a demi-human but I can't tell. But that is what this idea is based off. WHY are demi humans "pets". There more like humans then animals. but in lots of fiction they're treated like pets this one shows it in listeners past sounds like a abused cat. Its messed up. If there mental capacity is the same as humans then why are that treated like animals. Its just a thought tho. No one has to listen just wanted to put it out there
