I think 환상 doesn't mean fantasy but circular ;) Anyhow, great content! Thank you so much!

ORIGINAL: Oh wow you're right @enamu! Had no idea about that until now haha. I guess it got mistranslated and spread around the internet like that a lot since 환상 also means fantasy, and now the name kind of stuck. Whoops! Haha. I'll pin the comment so people can see. Thank you very much!
EDIT: Oh I did some digging and found something interesting. In my bike passport it's listed as "Jeju Fantasy Bicycle Path" and then on the official website it's listed as "Jeju Circular Bike Path." I guess it can be called both because they both kind of make sense for Jeju? Who knows! Kind of cool it works out that way though!

I just came back from Jeju bike camping trip. Fantastic trip. Ferry was 38000 (weekend price) won plus 3000 for bicycle. Just be aware of few things. Ride was pleasant for the most part but anywhere around Jeju City and when wind is blowing hard was difficult. Also, Jeju had different law than mainland Korea and has tough custom check. I decided to leave my passport in Seoul with relatives so as to not go lose it in hectic trip and it was problematic. I had passport card but they wouldn't recognize it and I barely got through custom after showing picture of passport on my phone that my relative took. Ports where you take ferry to Mokpo/Jeju were not obvious and there is no direction or information that I can see online. In Mokpo, it was 삼악부두여객선터미날 which was kind of out of the way from main port and 3rd port that I checked. You buy ticket there if you haven't already bought online. As foreigner, I haven't figured out how to buy ticket online. In Jeju, you buy ticket and board on the main terminal. However, they instruct me to go at least hour earlier to Pier 4 and load bike and come back to buy ticket. You then go through custom and they shuttle you to boat.

"Wow! This is an amazingly great review. It's more useful and fun than any bike path review written by a local. It's really interesting to see a traveler from abroad give such detailed and helpful information. Your preparation and observation are impressive. I've visited famous bike paths in many countries, but Jeju's bike path is one of the most charming places I've been to. I highly recommend it to all travelers. Here's an extra tip: you don't have to stick to the official Jeju bike path. Especially the southern route starting from Sanbangsan(산방산) often follows noisy main roads. But if you go off the bike path and ride along the beach roads, you'll have a quieter and more amazing experience, including the Seopjikoji trail (섭지코지). Plus, you'll come across many diving spots and campgrounds along the way. It's great that you did the review in English, as it can help many people!"

Great video Matt and Yujin... I biked Jeju-do back in the 90's so it was a LITTLE different. I didn't see anyone else riding bikes... Did it in April so there were cherry blossoms everywhere.
3 days in total. On the first day I rode straight across the middle of the island. An overnight ferry with NO sleep and then six hours of climbing. It was brutal. The rest of the time was spent riding the coast.
It was beautiful, but obviously I'll do it differently next time.

Hey Alex thanks a lot! Wow biking Jeju in the 90s must have been super beautiful! I imagine back then it probably wasn't filled with so many tourist resorts, and a bit quieter? It's still really nice now even with all the cars and people, as Jeju just has a special vibe to it that's always worth going back to. Hope you can make it back there some day!

Thank you for this video. I finished Incheon to Busan bike camping trip, and I'm currently on Jeju Island. I'm using this video as a Bible to follow. You were not wrong when you insist that everyone should camp at 금능 beach. What a great place to camp! I'm currently camped at 포선 beach, but it was not as clear-cut as 금능 beach that I can camp here. There are conflicting signs that you can camp but also no camping. Anyway, just should know that your videos are helping others.

Thank you so much @joshyi9228! 금능 is amazing for camping eh? It's always so hard to leave it, as it's one of my favourite places on the island. At 표선 beach was it harder to find a spot up on the grassy area? We've always had good luck there but maybe there are more people now. Anyways enjoy the rest of your trip cycling around Jeju! So happy that you are having a good time, and stay safe out there!

Did coastal headwinds and proximity to buzzing traffic ever get to you guys? Perhaps the (in my opinion) not so favourable biking conditions made the dip into the warm sub-tropical waters at the end of the day all the more pleasaurable? That one sunset at Gumneung Beach was also incredible.

Hi I just finished my bike tour around Jeju in 4 days. Thanks for this video. If I may, I’d like to add something. When I started riding, I realized that my Garmin navigation does not work (maps don’t load) so I used Kakao maps. It got me thru around. However it does not always follow the Fantasy trail. It oftentimes would take me inland and have me follow bike paths other than the Fantasy Trail. I often wondered how much more scenic some areas would have been. For example, my final 10 km had me riding inland beside traffic and pedestrians. As such it was an anti-climactic finish away from the coastline. But other than that it got me around the entire island. Thanks again!

Always a pleasure to watch your videos. Thanks so much. I know you have a lot to cover, but one thing that seemed a bit odd was @6:06 when you mention "Japanese military structures" with zero context. Could have been phrased better to reflect the historical gravity of these structures. The reason they are left there is so that future generations can remember the brutality of the occupation of Korea by Japan. A lot of slave labor was used, for example.

Did half of the ring road around Jeju Island on the "bike paths" last year. Unfortunately, you could hardly call it bike infrastructure. It blows my mind that they built car roads along such a beautiful coast on such a tiny island. Maybe have a looping rail system? Or construct the roads to be farther inland? Anything other than the current state of its infrastructure gore. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it to anybody but the most enthusiastic men in lycra.
