It’s definitely a really good adaptation to the book. It *almost* follows the book perfectly while still cutting some parts out like David and Amanda hooking up. Still would have wished they included some scenes that didn’t make the cut. There was a scene of the Arrowhead Project going wrong that was (I think) supposed to be part of the start of the film, and a scene with the Terror-Pede that would have happened during the Pterobuzzard attack. Still remains one of my all-time favorite films.
Are you still watching black and white cartoons? This was a rape of Stephen King's book it is disgusting and the fact that you like it doesn't say much for your movie critic skills
This maybe a late reply to your comment but regardless, yes, this story and this take on the story pays great respects to Lovecrafts work. The ending in the film in particular is more Lovecraftian itself as the character is driven mad by his actions as much as the events that lead him to them. Excellent stuff!
The film overall is really thrilling and the atmosphere disturbed me literally (in a good way lol). It shows how genius Stephen King is creating his fictions. All the actors and actresses were also great tho.
I read 'The Mist' when it was the first of a collection of Steven King short stories entitled, 'Skeleton Crew' about 25 years ago. The other stories were good, especially 'The Raft', but 'The Mist' was a very enjoyable ride and seemed to me to be the one that would make the best adaption to the Big Screen. I only watched this movie for the first time two days ago, and was really excited to find that it was such a faithful adaption. The actors chosen were spot on, as well as the amazing camera work. It was only at the end that I realised it was directed by Frank Darabont, and as I said to my wife, I should have known, as it was so real and even some of the actors Frank had chosen for 'The Green Mile' and 'Shawshank' were there to bring extra authenticity to the experience. I even liked the ending. I don't usually like the horror genre, or come to that, most of King's work, but hats off to Darabont. I'd like to see more of his movies in the future.
Frank Darabont is so geeky and cool with all this kinda stuff. and lol in that tentacle scene it looks like the kid really did smack his head against the door hahah
Wow, amazing movie from the start to the end, but the ending part was the unexpected feeling of the movie, which still haunts me. That's what a horror movie supposed to make you feel, awesome 👌
At least Jessup punched one of the followers so hard in the face before he was killed. That made me smile a little. I just wish it was seen in the movie
i mean i doubt it.. how could they make a sequel to this? or do you mean you want Frank Darabont to make another movie in this style? Yeah that'd be cool.
0o I Died In A Time Machine o0 a movie but from the military POV or someone else really the concept of the mist is pretty fascinating to a lot of people
This is a great and underrated film. My only problem with it is that the monsters are too "pink". More "greyness" would have been perfect. The DARK TOWER reference in the beginning is promising...to say the least.
5 points is a road. It has stop signs. Without the signs is chaos. Expense to life and property. Etc. Other things have safe handling instructions. Etc. Usually born out of a some ill fated reason. Experience.
Wow. I counted over 10 people (actors and crew) that are on The Walking Dead. Frank Darabont is easily one of the best in the business, and obviously loyal to his creative people.
Frank Darabont is like John Carpenter. A very intelligent and artistic Director, with very bad luck. I think both of them should be at the same level of Spielberg or J. Cameron.
And christ Jesus brought forgiveness for a reason. God knew people he created were going to be people. The strength instilled so yes parables because if man ever figures it out in reality. God help the world is why it with responsibility too.
I thought Hayden hammed it up way too much. Would have been much more interesting if she played it straight and with conviction instead of so over the top.
+timothy790110 let's say she went more over the top as the film wnet on.... when i watched it the first time, i actually had to applause when the scene came (dont want to spoil it) you know which one.. pure satisfaction:-)
well to be fair a lot of those jesus freaks are over the top in real life.. i have some in my family and they pretty much are just like her character lol. Everything is the "end of days" (which they've been saying for YEARS and yet it never comes lmao) and they always figure out someway to insert god into every single event that happens on the planet.
I thought this was 'the making of' not actors talking about acting. What was the mist made of? What were those tentacle puppets and why did they use shitty CGI instead of puppets? I wanted more details about the mechanics!
+BaSH PROMPT (ಠ,ಠ) I was under the impression the mist itself was just smoke from a smoke machine. As for the CGI, yeah, it was shitty, and the puppets did look better, but they would only look better when not interacting with people directly. If that tentacle had been animatronic, it would've looked great when it wasn't grabbing, but not when it was. I'm pretty sure the actual use they had for the puppets was demonstrating what the shape of the CGI model would be, though.
so they use tape and then you just turned his head to Kohl's and they can put marker make it look like it's blood and the frog I believe because the mist is fake
It was a good movie, but the acting wasn't stellar IMO. Ollie is exactly as I'd imagined him to look when reading the story. I'd love to see a prequel to this though.
Definitely one of the dumbest movies ever made I sat through it but most of the time I was laughing at how freaking stupid the scenes were completely unbelievable and at the end I was laughing so hard I almost f****** died. The actors should hide from any connection to this piece of trash, read the book.
Worst ending I have ever seen in any movie in my life. It's made for the impact for the people to remember the movie. But it's totally senseless, fight all that long just ti give up in the end, no way. No way anyone would ever do that. A few seconds more they had to wait. The producer did it to mess with the audience. I don't like that
I love this movie. The ending was so unexpected and tragic in a good way.
i came here because i just finished watching this movie. I cannot get over with its ending it left me traumatized😭
The Mist was amazing, great story, great special effects, not a surprise to find out King wrote it.
Texas Spider I love Stephen King I had hoped he wud make a cameo

Stephen King, the king of macabre 😊
Are you still watching black and white cartoons? This was a rape of Stephen King's book it is disgusting and the fact that you like it doesn't say much for your movie critic skills
@@daveken9936 What was the ending in the book??
This movie is so underrated. If it wasn't on Lovecraftianesque movies list I never would have seen it. But I did and I'm glad that I have.

Can you hit me up with that list?
Awesome movie, brilliant director. Thank you for posting ❤
This movie is truly a masterpiece, love it sooo much!!!
The film overall is really thrilling and the atmosphere disturbed me literally (in a good way lol). It shows how genius Stephen King is creating his fictions. All the actors and actresses were also great tho.
They should of make a sequal for this movie of how it all started or how it got out sum like that

Agree. When I saw the film I was amazed that it was, apart from the modified ending, exactly as I had pictured it when reading the story.
Thanks for posting. Such a great film. Great to see how it was made :)

That hit to the head that the Sherminator took to the forehead looked like it damn well hurt!
Lmao
I live about 9 miles from the market location in Vivian Louisiana. I remember going in there with my mom in the 60s . It's still there but abandoned.
22:20 well, what are you waiting for!? Let him in!
Nice filmmaking!!🎬
Finally saw this movie last week. It definitely wrecked me, particularly the ending
I like how you made sure to put the 33 at the registers in the start of the movie. Got to make sure to get your point across.
本編見た後はメイキング見ないと本当にしんどい
ああ 確かにメイキングは楽しそう( ̄∀ ̄)
Wow, amazing movie from the start to the end, but the ending part was the unexpected feeling of the movie, which still haunts me. That's what a horror movie supposed to make you feel, awesome 👌
GOOD MOVIE. The ending...OH DAMN...SAD HORRIBLE..IN A POSITIVE WAY.
At least Jessup punched one of the followers so hard in the face before he was killed. That made me smile a little. I just wish it was seen in the movie
i was today years old when i found out the dude who played ollie was british
فيلم قمة الروعة
I remember watching this movie, I loved very much from the first sighting. It is clearly one of the most misunderstood movies
plz make a second film to this, it can't end. dose anyone know if they will make a second film to this one if so plz will some one let me know, thanks
i mean i doubt it.. how could they make a sequel to this? or do you mean you want Frank Darabont to make another movie in this style? Yeah that'd be cool.

Marcia Gay Hayden performance was Oscar nod worthy in my opinion.
She basically carried the film. It wouldn’t have been as scary without her performance.
The end.is so scary I stay with the movie 😊
This is a great and underrated film. My only problem with it is that the monsters are too "pink". More "greyness" would have been perfect. The DARK TOWER reference in the beginning is promising...to say the least.
Great movie.
5 star movie
Great movie

Is there any comment on Lisa Gerrard's track used at the end?
せめてもの救い
What is the name of the humming that we hear at 22:53? I really want to know
Thomas Jane is a younger version of Christopher Lambert, lol
Finally, someone else who sees it!
Yes, Lol i thought so too. They look like their related.
Both equally over act.
Part 2 of the mist pls
Wow. I counted over 10 people (actors and crew) that are on The Walking Dead. Frank Darabont is easily one of the best in the business, and obviously loyal to his creative people.
Great movie . Marcia gay harrden did a great job even tho she was crazy . Loved the way she act 👍🏼👍🏼
Sad Movie
Just watched, my heart hurts
Wait so the tentacles weren't CGI?
Not at all.
some were. depending on the shot and what the tentacle needed to do
Of how the mist is rising to the store is very scary and Its very cool
Frank Darabont is like John Carpenter. A very intelligent and artistic Director, with very bad luck. I think both of them should be at the same level of Spielberg or J. Cameron.
Slightly longer version: *The Mist - The Making Of* th-cam.com/video/JrlfR2foMGQ/w-d-xo.html
I don't ever have to see this movie again!! 😨
My youngest son, 30 years old watched it. He told me Stephen King is one messed up f@#ker
my favourite horror films is the best want horror look like behind the scenes
0:00:13
Wait. WHAT?!?
The tentacles were NOT REAL?!!
Movie well done!😁
We do do the fire to scare off the mist and thieves in the world 👏😭😭
Frank Darabont is something else...
Frank and Tom sound alike haha, good ass movie!
Would love to see what Frank Darabont would do with a Hellraiser movie.
Like si vienes por Luis Dewitt 🙂
I consider this part of the King/Darabont trilogy
the ending is really sad
True.
👏😭😭
i havent seen a horror movie since this one that was as good
Okay but how did it but they use tape and set up focus what did you just do to walk
Can't help thinking what the walking dead could have been.
The Walking Dead would have stayed good for far longer if Frank had stayed on, what an AMC blunder !
That shirt is so not Thomas Jane.
How do you know that?
giant sushi🍣

😮😮😮😍😍😍😍
It was a great movie but had a weird ending 😕
Loved the movie hated the ending.

I don't think it was over the top at all. She reminds me of a lot of real world evangelists.

Maybe they should have hired Rob Bottin.
Bad ending

low budget movie could have been way better
