Tropical Storm Hilary and earthquake rocks southern California

  • Southern California and the Southwest were girding for more impact from one-time Hurricane Hilary Monday morning. More flash flooding and mud and rock slides were possible, forecasters said. The National Hurricane Center warned that some flooding could be "life-threatening and locally catastrophic."
Hilary strengthened to a Category 4 hurricane before weakening to a tropical storm prior to making landfall Sunday, then was downgraded to all the way to a subtropical cyclone early Monday morning. It was expected to dissipate later in the day, the hurricane center said.
Flooding was already impacting many areas and numerous rock and mud slides were reported.
Hilary was the first tropical storm to hit Southern California in 84 years.
It dumped more than half the average annual rain on some desert and mountain areas, including Palm Springs, which saw nearly 3 inches of rain by Sunday evening. Tens of thousands of people across Southern California had no power due to the storm and Palm Springs lost 911 service Sunday night, CBS News Los Angeles reported. The station said Hilary's outskirts were still lingering over greater Los Angeles and battering some regions with heavy rain early Monday morning.

how many small earthquakes do California experience per year?
The USGS records roughly 10,000 earthquakes in Southern California each year or around 27 per day. Most of them are so small that they go unnoticed. Only several hundred quakes register a magnitude of 3.0 or greater, and only 15 to 20 of them reach 4.0 magnitude.May 31, 2023

Here we go again the weather channel and all the other media trying to make it look like an apocalypse now, I talked to my sister in San Diego and she told me it was no big deal a big nothing burger. I use to live in San Diego before I got smart and moved away all the roads are designed to let the water run over them when it rains hard. And as for all that water that looks like a normal afternoon in Alabama after a daily thunderstorm. Let’s focus on some real issues like the Maui fire. Oh by the way now all the brush will grow real fast and come October Southern California will once again burn to the ground. Welcome to the land of natural disasters

As the climate heads into greater extremes globally, how can we best deal with future climate crises?
The short answer is that we cannot deal with them unless we take care of nature's inner balance.
We live in a tightly-closed and interdependent system in which everything boomerangs back to us. While living in such a system, we need to reconsider what we want and think, and how we treat each other, because our human connections are the primary influence on how nature responds to us.
It is common to think that climate is dependent on factors outside of us-whether it be balances between heat and cold in the environment, or the effects of various kinds of pollution we emit-because we lack a complete picture of how our attitudes to each other bring about the strongest responses from nature toward us.
No creature distorts nature the way that we people do. And it is not simply a matter of switching to renewable energy sources, electric cars and the like; it is a matter of how we relate to each other.
If we truly wish to witness more balance throughout nature and not have to deal with all kinds of cold waves and other natural disasters, then similarly to how we have electricity, water and gas meters in our homes, we should also have meters that count how much evil we emit into the world from our negative attitudes to each other. What I mean is that if we could feel the extent to which we emit negative forces into the world, which negatively ricochet back to us, then we would wish to change this negative driver within us. We would want to switch it to a drive that makes our human connections positive, and which harmonizes us with nature.
In simple terms, when we get up in the morning, we should first and foremost consider what we need to do in order for all people to have it good. Developing such an attitude is not so simple, yet we will need to seriously work on it as we head into the future. A life of increasing blows from nature or a life of peace and harmony depends on the extent to which we impact a shift in our attitudes to each other-from negative to positive.

ANd when this one hit the other day it was also a tropical storm. By the time it got in Cali it was only 60 mph winds. We get 60 mph storms all the time on east coast, YAWN, no big deal.
The rest of the country keeps telling California people to leave Cali. They insist on staying... sorry not sorry.
