    Having dismantled and rebuilt my V12, it was a pleasure to work on and definitely a superb design, incredibly smooth and understressed. hats off to these two designers. Great video, thanks for uploading.... 👍🇬🇧

      Thanks for the feedback. We are also currently rebuilding one of our own V12s, great design just sometimes a little miss understood

      @@LouGuthryMotors There was never anything wrong with the mechanics, the ancillaries however were a very different matter and sadly the Yanks do an LS swap to replace the latter.

      these engines were not able to drive for a longer period on german autobahn without dropping valve seats

    Listening to Harry and Wally explain their choices and how they designed it
    It was amazing and well ahead of its time
    The points about exhaust emissions were very poignant
    I had a little giggle about that as well

    This guy asking questions is literally trolling these 2 fine gentlemen back in 71’ before it was a thing wow this is a brilliant piece of engineering way past most people’s automotive comprehension respect 💯

      What do you mean by trolling? My understanding of trolling is deliberately posing questions or making comments to bait or upset somebody - I don’t believe that’s what this guy is doing. Certainly he’s interviewing 71 style, which is When often non-technical interviewers would be given a set of questions to ask, and would post them at the specific times and let the people answer them, but that is not trolling

      The twin cam was used in the XJ13, you can get one made today...... if you have the reddies....i was only looking at one last week..

    I have an xj40 6 liter it's a wonderful engine I've run it up the red line many times it's always surprising not the greatest on fuel economy around 11 mi a gallon in the city 18 on the highway on 87 octane their effortless going through the mountains. You hardly ever see any of these v12 on the road anymore they were brilliant you don't think so try making your own engine

    These engines did never work they dropped valve seats any 20.000 miles

      I’ve had seven of them over a period of 20 years and they have been extremely reliable. My daily has 189k never rebuilt.

      They are great engines, vary rarely stressed and if looked after will run for 100s of kms
