Geminiano Giacomelli was appointed chapel master of the Duke of Parma in 1724. After the performance of his opera entitled "Ipermestra", in 1724, he continued his studies with Alessandro Scarlatti in the city of Naples and became one of the most popular composers of his time. Between 1724 and 1740 he composed 19 operas and for many years worked at the Viennese imperial court. His most famous work is "Caesar in Egypt", 1735.
