Down Syndrome - More than a Diagnosis

Meet Leo!
Born amid the pandemic, Leo surprised everyone by crashing his sister's second birthday party. Shortly after, the NICU doctor revealed characteristics suggesting Down syndrome, leaving his parents overwhelmed and scared.
In search of guidance, they turned to their network, receiving advice to contact Little Light House and join the waiting list. Seven days later, Leo's diagnosis was confirmed, leading them to sign up for the waiting list for the Early Intervention program at Little Light House when Leo was a week old.
A couple of years later, a call inviting them to join the Early Intervention Program came. Meeting dedicated specialists during the masked-up pandemic era marked a significant change, transitioning from uncertainty to having a supportive team.
Leo, with his incredible potential, has become a star wherever he goes. Concerns about his learning have given way to Leo becoming his parents' teacher, demonstrating the true meaning of love, patience, and the celebration of every small milestone.
The journey with a special needs child has been a mix of challenges and rewards, teaching them to appreciate small things, celebrate victories, and cherish every moment. Leo has become their inspiration and hero, showcasing resilience, determination, and unconditional love.
On the waiting list since seven days old, Leo thrived through early intervention, learning to speak hundreds of words and sing. Excitingly, Leo started full-time at Little Light House in the fall.
