I’ve been watching from nearly the beginning and have not watched a single boring or uninteresting episode yet. This video just proves the point. Always new and interesting things happening, and I ALWAYS look forward impatiently for the next episode to come out. Just an outstanding achievement boys!
This is a visual demonstration of how the boys are no longer just "normal's" and also not yet chefs. This is the difference of dedicated concerted training/ study vs a lifetime (decade plus) of "being in the kitchen and loving to cook". I cant thumb's up this enough. Fantastic effort and we need many more videos like this one.
I haven't even finished watching yet, and I think this format is genius - I LOVE seeing Ben and Kush chatting together trying to figure out what the other three are doing, almost like wildlife biologists quietly observing the perplexing behaviour of a few animals in the distance. So good.
Turn it into a competition of sorts! Have James Curry (or another chef) make a dish, then have the normals make one and the chefs make another. It would be so interesting to see the way Kush and Ben dissect a dish, and if they miss the same things as the normals.
I'd like to see that, particularly if it's something outside the usual range of the chef(s) To even it up a little, could also have the normals as a team so they get to discuss ideas (along with extra thinking time), while the chef(s) have to work solo
And maybe give the normals a little more time than the chefs, or some other small advantage. I guess having three people is a bit of an advantage, but something else might be nice.
Kush's presenting skills and confidence on camera has come so far since we first started seeing him in videos. He's clearly getting more comfortable on camera and is doing amazing!
Guys such a nice video I have got a suggestion to add to this format: why dont you guys record kush cooking the dish before giving it to normals and after normals have tried cooking they can react to that video. So basically you add up the kush cooking part and the reaction part this way you will get two videos to post and of course we get to know how kush cooked that wonderful dish. Love you guys
Agreed. I would also remove the timing element - this is not the sort of thing where it comes down to seconds, the normals are working together trying to show how far they can reverse engineer Kush’s dish. It makes no odds if they are ten minutes ‘late’ or not, it’s accuracy not a battle. In terms of a future dish - one of these go disarmingly simple seeming: lasagne, fish and chips; anything where the normals have to really pay attention to how Kush would have elevated something they could otherwise cook themselves
You can even do a "Blast from the past" by recreating a dish from an older video or even a lesser known sidekick recipe and see if they know their own channel or app.
Tbh the way you guys talk to and about each other is really refreshing, you’re always so positive but constructive. I think that’s one of the reasons I like watching your channel it’s just down to earth and genuine.

I notice that Mike and J were getting Baz to taste a lot of the things. I know they rib him some times but Barry did earn the Sous Chef apron and, to my mind, still deserves it out of all of them.
@TheCardinalFang Barry has been questioned a lot by the viewers over little mistakes he's made in the past, but even here I was spot on with scallops and was quick to hear Jamie had put whole grain mustard in. Absolutely deserving of still wearing the apron, I agree. Nevertheless, all three of them have come along so far and each one found something inside the recipe the others couldn't. Mike found lemongrass, Jamie found pickled ginger, and Barry found scallops. They all did great.
I still was surprised by how they divided the work (Ben mentioned it in the end) : Jamie ended up doing the pasta and the filling, Mike the bisque and the artichoke, while Barry did the easier and identifiable garnishes. They worked well together but Barry could take more of a leader role
@@garanceh6448 I think the "easier" tasks freed Barry up to do more tasting and supervising. We all know Jamie is amazing inside of his comfort zone, pasta and tasty fillings are well inside that. I love this new format! It was like watching a new team actually work together and play off each other's strengths, and when a weakness came up, the other two supported and helped out.
I genuinely think the boys will learn the most from these kind of videos. For sure this needs to be a series. For what dish to make next, I think Kush will be the best person to decide on it.
Very entertaining to watch. I'd love to see the reverse as well. The Normals planning and cooking something and the chefs have to work it out and copy it.
I love this new video format. Please make it again. This has so many possibilities, Ben, James Curry, and guest chefs. This will be my new favorite video format (cooking through the alphabet and global dishes become second and third.) They've been working together for so long. This should teach them to watch and learn their styles and signature techniques, i.e., Kush blends things, as he said. I know that under pressure we forget simple things, like using a blender.
I’m about 1 minute in and I just had to stop and say that I haven’t been this excited about a video in a while! I’ve seen the ‘taste it and make it’ format on other channels, but it’s always done by a chef who knows what they’re doing. Having this done by normals is EXACTLY what I want from Sorted! Love this!
Absolutely do again... and again...and again. I think it is AMAZING to watch people unravel recipes and construct what they perceive. And you guys are amazingly entertaining throughout the whole process! Thank you for the entertainment and the knowledge!
I LOVE this new format! Please do it again. It's so fun to see the normals working on a challenge together. (Favorite moment: explaining the colors to Jamie.)
New challenge unlocked. I could definitely see this as series. I am home feeling sick and this brought me some much comfort and joy to see them try and figure out what inside and how to make it, while using the techniques and knowledge they learnt throughout the years. Very good video 😂. Let do more.
Love this format! Please do more of these. It is a very balanced way to show the thought processes from the normals using what they have picked up before while also presenting the correct process and letting us see just how much of a difference minor changes can really make.
I watch every video you put out, and this format is chef's kiss. It really demonstrates "normalness". I'd imagine many viewers consider themselves to be very good home cooks, myself included. But I know my attempts would look at a like the boys'. It's humbling for everyone, and I like that. And learning how to develop this skill (tasting and recreating) seems incredibly useful, so I'd love to learn along with the other normals.
This is a great format. The guys had to deal with a pretty challenging first dish, and I think they did a great job. A fun twist would be to let the normals create something, and make the chefs copy it, but don't let them improve it in any way.
Love this format -- but it would also be super cool to see how a trained chef would compare when given the same dish to recreate. Excited to see more of this in the future! 🖤
This was so fun to watch. I loved how Kush and Ben were able to explain how something was done while the guys worked it. Very fun format, can't wait to see more!
This is GREAT! Really feeds the urge I always have when I go out to eat, where I spend half the meal going "I bet I could make this at home! Let's see, I can taste X and Y, might wanna substitute in Z..." (Whether or not it's actually something I have the skills to make is irrelevant, lol) Definitely keep doing this!!
I also loved that the format has all 5 of the lads, but without it feeling crowded. And Ben and Kush complemented each other - I learned so much from them chatting through their responses to what was happening, and sharing their cheffy techniques…
Love this new format. There's just something about Ben and Kush intensely commenting in the corner that gives off gaze-into-the-abyss vibes and I am so here for it.
I think they all did an amazing job! I would like to see how the dish is supposed to be done because I just like watching Ben and/or Kush perform culinary magic. It's always relaxing and informative. You should definitely do this again, it was super fun! I would also love to see Barry, Jamie and Mike tackle dishes they are generally familiar with but that have an ingredient or flavor that shakes things up (think a classic or comfort food, but with a twist). I've seen the idea of having guest chefs in this format floating around the comments and I love that idea, too!
It’s truly a perfect Sunday because the Chefs AND the Community get to judge the Normals. Also, interesting start to a new series 👏🏽 Happy Sunday, everyone!
I really like this new format. I'd love to see Kush make the dish, too. Watching the "Normals" try to figure it out was fun, but being able to cook something like it myself would be awesome!
I loved this challenge especially because it felt like the normals were pushed out of their comfort zones a bit but were supported by their partners. I absolutely hope to see more of this
When I was younger, I used to do the same thing. Taste and try to make it. That's how I learned a lot in the cuisine. I nailed the bbq ribs of a restaurant! All by taste! And did it in several place too. It's fun and challanging. It's not always a succes, but it's always a discovery!
I havent watched it all yet but here's an idea to make this format even harder, should you feel devilish: only one normal can see the dish in advance, only one can smell it in advance, and only one can taste it in advance.
LOVED this format! We saw normals attempt it, so we all learned from their mistakes, as well as the stuff they intuitively got right. And their teamwork was terrific and natural. I also loved how Ben and Kush explained the processes as they went along. As much as I like ‘normal battles’ - I prefer it when we see them learn or use chef techniques to improve a dish. This had all that. Do it again - soon!
The Bon Appetit youtube channel has a similar format to this with Chef Chris Morocco. He dons a blindfold and tries to guess the dish & it's components without seeing it. In the past he would even guess which famous chef the dish came from. Really fun stuff!
Definitely do again! Also love that they picked up on alot of the things correctly. Yes they missed a few key items, but overall I think for 3 normals they did an amazing job and should be proud of what they made.
Taste it and Make it? You mean that Taste It Now Make It Challenge in Hell's Kitchen that Gordon Ramsay offers only to the Top 3-5 Black Jackets finalists, now forced upon 3 Normals? Hehehehehehe
I love to try taste it and make it. I do that when my wife or daughter finds a restaurant dish they really like. It is fun, I buy a second dish of it and sample it in bits over many minutes.
LOVED this new format! Kush and Ben were like parents watching their children’s first football match - worried and encouraging from the sidelines, almost comforting themselves whispering to each other. Boys did an amazing job; great team work, no argument and accomplishing something quite complex all on their own. Next one can be a baking challenge or an international menu that they tried going back many years ago. Given they didn’t remember scallop mousse master class, there is no chance they can recall what went in and how 😂
@@SortedFood To be honest, I think so far they are doing quite well. I mean, its a michelin star dish (which sounds and looks amazing), and they are just normals.
Chris Morocco: Wait, where are their blindfolds? What do you mean they get to see the dish? Do you know how many points I've lost from mixed up white and red onions? Or speaking of red... Red Leicester! And don't even get me started on green pasta!
I would absolutely love to see the chefs have a go at the full Chris Morocco format, with unlimited time but limited attempts at delivering a copy of the dish. Sadly, it's a really time consuming format, so I doubt it's a great one for the way they shoot things here.
I love the complex Michelin star recipe challenge! Please do more 😊 and add the recipe afterwards. My boyfriend and I love hosting dinner parties once in a while where we try complex recipes and so I love more inspiration like this! The dish looked so good and the boys did an amazing job!
I love the "taste-it-make-it" format - it's something my family does when we find a recipe we love at a restaurant. Watching others stumble through things in the same fashion has both been a delight and made me slightly homesick - but in the very best way!
Really interesting as well as fun to watch! My 27 year old daughter, a great cook, introduced me to your channel! Thanks Elie❤Loved the tip on frying the herbs in a microwave!! Yes definitely, to more of the same. Thank you.

Very entertaining to watch. I'd love to see the reverse as well. The Normals planning and cooking something and the chefs have to work it out and copy it.
THAT would be funny - I'm American so I don't know what smash tastes like, but you could use some of your convenience foods to fool the chefs.
Love how understanding and kind Ben always is in his judging.
I love this new video format. Please make it again. This has so many possibilities, Ben, James Curry, and guest chefs. This will be my new favorite video format (cooking through the alphabet and global dishes become second and third.)
They've been working together for so long.
Love this!
LOVE this format. And even just the part of having the chefs watching from upstairs and providing live commentary is wonderful.
Do it again! This was fun to watch! I was screaming at the guys, " scallops, scallops!!". 😂😂😂
I really enjoyed this concept, was fun to watch. More of this please 😁
Love the new format. More Please.
Okay!
This was so fun to watch. I loved how Kush and Ben were able to explain how something was done while the guys worked it. Very fun format, can't wait to see more!
this is great because we all learn vicariously through the normals especially after going through the dish at the end and the rights and wrongs
This is GREAT! Really feeds the urge I always have when I go out to eat, where I spend half the meal going "I bet I could make this at home! Let's see, I can taste X and Y, might wanna substitute in Z..." (Whether or not it's actually something I have the skills to make is irrelevant, lol)
Definitely keep doing this!!
You know when a channel cares about their audience. Is when they read/listen to what they say. And do that exactly what they want.
And within 4 minutes aswell!
I also loved that the format has all 5 of the lads, but without it feeling crowded. And Ben and Kush complemented each other - I learned so much from them chatting through their responses to what was happening, and sharing their cheffy techniques…
This new format is a lot of fun. I wouldn't mind seeing the boys try their hand at a few signature dishes from famous/important restaurants.
Love this new format. There's just something about Ben and Kush intensely commenting in the corner that gives off gaze-into-the-abyss vibes and I am so here for it.
I have been watching ur vids for a year. When I don’t know what to watch this is the first thing that comes to mind! I Love the new format
YES! love new formats!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Yes, you should do this again! This format was a lot of fun and very educational for everyone! Love it! Thanks guys💛
It’s truly a perfect Sunday because the Chefs AND the Community get to judge the Normals. Also, interesting start to a new series 👏🏽
Happy Sunday, everyone!
This feels very “Recreates with Chris Morocco” but the format much more fun and entertaining. I’m hyped to see more!
I absolutely hope to see more of this
I like this spin on the Chris Morocco recreation style video's, especially with the chefs watching and commentating.
A great addition from Chris’ version would be to do a Chef version but also make them guess the ingredients that they need to use.
That was my thought. It's a great spin
Ooooh very tricky!
@@SortedFood maybe to compensate, they get to ask one yes or no question
LOVED this format! We saw normals attempt it, so we all learned from their mistakes, as well as the stuff they intuitively got right. And their teamwork was terrific and natural. I also loved how Ben and Kush explained the processes as they went along. As much as I like ‘normal battles’ - I prefer it when we see them learn or use chef techniques to improve a dish. This had all that. Do it again - soon!
Germany had an entire tv series around this format, called Kitchen Impossible, but with professionel chefs. Great way of doing it here
Interesting! We’ll look it up!
@@SortedFood No apostrophe, no lawsuit.
The Bon Appetit youtube channel has a similar format to this with Chef Chris Morocco. He dons a blindfold and tries to guess the dish & it's components without seeing it. In the past he would even guess which famous chef the dish came from.
Really fun stuff!
They also do this as one of the rounds in MasterChef UK
@@JaySay But no one mentions that channel anymore, ever.
Given they didn’t remember scallop mousse master class, there is no chance they can recall what went in and how 😂
Oh, a new format, and it sounds like fun. Lets see how Baz, Jamie and Mike manage.
🙈
@@SortedFood To be honest, I think so far they are doing quite well. I mean, its a michelin star dish (which sounds and looks amazing), and they are just normals.
Love this new format! You should also do chefs recreating a normal's dish by only taste (no sight).
Chris Morocco: Wait, where are their blindfolds? What do you mean they get to see the dish? Do you know how many points I've lost from mixed up white and red onions? Or speaking of red... Red Leicester! And don't even get me started on green pasta!
To be fair though, Chris has a lot more than 45 minutes!
This is the comment I was looking for
I would absolutely love to see the chefs have a go at the full Chris Morocco format, with unlimited time but limited attempts at delivering a copy of the dish.
Sadly, it's a really time consuming format, so I doubt it's a great one for the way they shoot things here.
I mean, the blindfold is to showcase Chris' supertasting skill. Even with no blindfold the boys still struggle.
Thank you.
Yes Jamie, of course you should do this format again! It was a great watch!
The video ideas and production quality lately has been amazing! Good job guys🎉
This one was a funny new addition as a show!
I love it when on end Ben is competing the dishes and says is almost identical and Kush just gives side slight side eye
Please, please, PLEASE do this again. Not only was it fun to watch, but so much learning was happening as well. Thank you!!!
This format is so awesome guys! It’s so creative but shows how drastically different chefs vs normals are and I think it’s so freaking cool! I really love this and hope you guys do so much more!
Amazing concept and execution. It was interesting to see what the chefs were thinking out loud regarding normals performance. 20 minute video seemed like a 5 minute video, just amazing!!!
I love this. The one thing I'd really really really like to have would be "and tomorrow we'll release the video of Kush making the original".
