    Loved the video!
My mom has been making yogurt by herself for 23 years, using nothing but a pot and a few blankets!
You just heat up some milk, stir in some leftover yogurt from the previous batch, close the lid, and wrap it up in a few blankets. Leave it overnight, place a kitchen cloth on top the next day to absorb moisture, and then store it in the fridge! It's so easy, and I love the slightly sour taste!

Whilst learning Spanish I watched a video from a Mexican, who lived in Canada but stayed for a month with a friend in the US. They repeatedly commented on how many machines there were in the American house for all kinds of stuff - it seemed genuinley surprising. I think getting an electric machine to make yoghurt, which is ancient and also not that hard, is a good example of excessive machine creep. We need less crap like that, not more, even if it works excellently.

    • @melindacohea127
      @melindacohea127 4 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +2

I see your point about "Machine creep", but that is a consumer choice. As a teacher I think it also speaks to the American culture for "tinkering". Every stuffed garage and collector of old washing machines who thinks "maybe I can do something with this" is a part of the spirit of invention. And sometimes that spirit of invention creates amazing things that are of true benefit.

Being a Scot I'm a fan of "Oat Cuisine" (see what I did there 😆). Been a while since I bought a bulk bag of oats or barley so nearly fell off my chair when you said how much they cost per Kg. Then again there's a farm up the road where I can buy a sack for buttons. Nice machine though, nicer than the mangle we used when I was a kid - was always scared I'd lose a finger. 🌾

The wine filters work great for histamines, but have no impact on hangovers. For myself, drinking a single sip of red wine will instantly make my nose stuffy, and if I drink a whole glass I get a sinus headache as if I’ve got a head cold or the worst hay fever. The filters help with that, but the alcohol isn’t changed at all.

Mind that buying the grains in bulk from the market as an industrial player (with tax refund option) makes it WAY cheaper to buy compared to buying it from retail as a final consumer. That is why the processed food can be cheaper for you.

For the wine wand: money and enviroment wise it's a no.
Yogurt maker: I'd try it, especially if my little subsistence farm dream ever came true
Grain flaker: ditto to the yogurt maker (also the quality of the build makes me think that's a kitchen tool that gets passed on to the next generation)
Noodle slide: oh for crying out loud. i'd rather pay to make the trip to japan than embarrass myself setting that out for a dinner party
(now, as a children's water park slide toy, that i'd think about)

Red Wine doohickey - I cannot drink red wine due to allergies. Even for a 'mere' £10 I wouldn't want to risk the chance it wouldn't work, the headaches are just SO bad... I went to the Oktoberfest many years ago, they don’t put sulphites in the festival beer as it’s getting drunk pretty quick so doesn’t need preservatives. You don’t get the same level of hangover, you still feel pretty dodgy from all the alcohol but the lack of preservatives 100% reduces the effect the next day
Whether or not that wand removes them I don’t know, but if you can find alcohol without preservatives you can definitely drink more with less after effects

The wine wand looks like something that might work the way it's supposed to, but that way is not what the marketing promises - ie if somebody's asthmatic or allergic to histamines, it probably will help them. It won't, however, do anything for anybody else.
Hell, that's only if it works at all.

I have a friend who is allergic to sulfates and sulfites and can't drink a lot of things because of them. She tried the wine wand with a glass of cider a few years ago and it did cut down on her reaction (there's not many ciders she can drink and she loves cider). A glass of wine (official or home measurements) is good bit less liquid than a full glass/can of cider though, so would you need 2 wands to be as effective as a glass of wine. It's a little pointless for the boys to judge if they don't have that reaction to histamines or sulfites, other than confirming it didn't negatively impact the flavour.

I like that it was determined it didn't affect the wine's flavor but i agree how would we know if it actually does what it says?

Yogurt -You can use the instant pot you already have in your studio to make yogurt or any of the mentioned dishes, if you need to control the temperature isnt it?

One gets sulphate drops for wine. I am highly allergic to sulphites and use it on rare occasions. The drops contains Hydrogen Peroxide and Molybdenum. A few clears all the sulphites without altering the taste. You would definitely not get a headache etc, UNLESS you drink too much. No cure for a hangover.

Like using a whisk to aerate it, stirring that "filter" is just speed-running letting the wine breathe, (didn't you already test the wine whisks?) so if anyone is noticing a difference it's probably that.
