- Does Leona have a favorite first year?
I don’t think we can emphatically say, “This first-year student is Leona’s favorite” until he says so for himself (and even then I would advise skepticism, as Leona is extremely sarcastic) but we can certainly look at his past interactions.

My conclusion: nobody can be immune to Ortho's charm, even Leona can't be angry at him 😂

@@aurallistineits mainly due to the fact that both know each other before nrc having a better first impresion with Jack as oppose of epel altough i dont know why they did not referenced this in chapter 5 both him and Deuce could have helped epel understand vil views

@@aurallistine In Vil's Ceremony Robe card, it's mentioned that they came from the same hometown so they do know each other since childhood. In the card, Vil even made sure to check Jack's robe, making sure he wore it correctly like a mom making sure her son is dressed up properly for an important event. Even Jack seemed excited when he met Vil again after the sorting ceremony.
maybe it's for the best that Deuce and Leona have limited overlap lol with Leona's influence as a tough guy bad boy, Deuce may slip back to his delinquent habits. or, Leona would be peeved to know just how much Deuce gets along with Malleus 😂

Definitely Epel. Dude gave trash for other's birthdays (Ace with salad, Vil with 'run out of ink' pen). His spelldrive merch definitely special and 'not effortless' lol

its also important to remember that leona consider's epel one of the best fliers on the spelldrive team , so he has acknowledged him praised him before !! also , i cant remember if this is the same instance , but in the tsum tsum event he and epel are together in the botanical gardens so maybe theyve hung out at least once . he does see epel as a kid though it seems , and he isnt fond of kids lol ( leona's labwear vignette )
First things first, I do know that what I am going to be saying does not make Leona exempt from having a favorite freshman, I just wonder if it would maybe hinder the possibility? One thing that is definitely true, though, is that for the students that are in Leona’s inner circle, he does have a soft spot for, in his own roundabout way.
As for what I think may hinder Leona from having favorites would be how he grew up being not favored in relation to his brother - his brother, being put on more of a pedestal, and Leona growing up in a environment and home where he was ostracized.
I feel like one thing that some people forget is that it was not just Leona‘s family that was the problem. *It was the royal staff as well.* We are literally shown the royal staff talking down on Leona behind his back (in the flashback from Book 2), and this is likely something they did a lot. Where I feel Leona‘s family is a problem in this situation is: What did they do to stop this? The answer is, we don’t know. The story did not show us and I find it hard to believe his family did not hear the things the Royal Staff was saying, especially if Leona did.
One piece of information I do not know why it was not included in book 2, and I agree should have been, was that Leona‘s brother is *10 years older* than Leona himself. I find out when I started looking at the birthday stories, after going through the main story plus school uniform related vignettes…though there are still some birthday ones I need to go through.
I watch Leona’s Birthday Boy Suit Up card and was surprised to see that the information was hidden there? When this was something I was questioning for the LONGEST time. If that was included in the main story, it would have provided *way more perspective.* For some examples, when Leona was born, his brother would’ve been 10, or nine going on 10. In five years, Leona is five and his brother is 15. In another five, Leona is 10 and his brother is 20. Why compare (and belittle, as adults, which the Royal Staff definitely was) an elementary school kid to that of a high school or college/university age kid? Seriously? That is the environment Leona had to grow up in? It is honestly safe to say that the amount of staff in the home outweigh the amount of family, that we know of.
As for why I feel this might hinder Leona picking favorites is because he had to grow up, not ranking in his own home, due to reasons outside his own control. Those in his life/in his environment had a favorite, and it was not him. Since he knows what that is like, I question if he would want someone else to be on the receiving end of that? I agree with a comment I saw on the topic of Leona having kids. To paraphrase some of it, this person said, “He would raise his kids with equal attention, no one will be the favorite, and they would all have his love and support.” Just swap “kids” with “Freshman” and the sentiment still feels the same/can apply to this.
Obviously, I understand that not everyone is going to like the same characters as others, and no one is obligated to do so if they just don’t, it is just that I personally do not like seeing characters get flagrantly mischaracterized and/or having misinformation being spread about them/their story, whether that it is due to not remembering (which that happens, I have been there), or not caring, if it is a character that is not a personal fan favorite. Some of what I mentioned about Leona comes from that, since he is amongst one of the characters in Twisted Wonderland that gets mischaracterized/misunderstood a fair bit.
You make a lot of good points. Leona wouldn't do the whole favouritism thing, because he himself was always belittled and looked down on, whereas his brother was treated like the golden child and got all the attention and care.

Ooo, that could be an interesting video! Maybe something that can be added, since there is a bit of a cross over, would be the characters in the main cast commenting on Yuu’s personality and physical appearance. As some examples, so people know what I mean, even I though I think Grim is exaggerating here a bit, in the Japanese version, Grim mentions how Vil’s legs are “a whole meter longer” than Yuu’s, denoting Yuu being less than Vil’s height. Another example, personality wise, would be when Cater asks if Yuu is like “some kind of bookworm” in a voice line, to which Yuu admits that it is something heard a lot. There are more examples, but I do not want to mention them all. I rather love the subtle details like that!
