You can't really call Nie Huaisang a villain, stereotypical villains would be happy after getting their revenge or maybe even regretful, but he isn't. For him it's always been about his brother and no one else, yes maybe he was also angry that he was continously lied to but it all came down to the fact that his bond with their brotherly was used against them by someone he was supposed to trust, what I really love is that when he finally gets that revenge he doesn't smile, nor does he start crying but he instead walks away with this expression that almost makes it seem he's at least content with how this ended, he didn't smile at more spilt blood or regret his actions because he never let insanity take him to the path he chose. He chose that path with full knowledge and was ready for what it might bring. Nie Huaisang just wanted his big brother to move on and be happy even though it would be without him and he could've gone down the same path that Jin Guangyao did and do it even better but he didn't
For me both Nie Huaisang and Jin Guangyao were the two sides of the same coin. They both started as innocent people and then their minds got twisted. Jin Guangyao killed more people than Nie Huaisang but he did that on his father's command. All he wanted was just recognition as a son from his father. When he finally realized that it was never going to happen he killed his father. After that he truly became the bad guy. As for Nie Huaisang he wanted revenge. He manipulated a mentally ill person (Mo Xuanyu) to perform the self sacrificing ritual, continually threatened the Juniors, killed a bunch of cats in a gruesome fashion to lure them into the Yi City so that he could blame Jin Guangyao for their death, he didn't care about the outcome. He was determined to kill as many people as possible to get revenge on. At last he lost all for the sake of that.
@@lokithegodofmischief7289 Nah..... I don't think he planned to kill the juniors at all. He knew they would save them in time, what he did wrong was that he bet on it at a high price. His plan is almost flawless. Including deliberately making Lan Xichen stab Jin Guangyao because that's what Jin Guangyao made him do. He didn't lose everything. He get everything he wished for.

Everything about it works so well together, from the song choice to the clip choices, and it’s truly a delight to watch.
