When the piles are clean like they should be we've used a pump up sprayer and diesel fuel to burn more brush than you can imagine. The pressurized fuel from the sprayer acts as a flame thrower and even green brush isn't a problem. The ground is prime right now for clearing and stumping here in the southeast with all the rain we've had. Wait until August without any rain to amount to anything for a month or two and it's 100 degrees, those little pines become aggravating for wanting to break off and the tap root holding on for dear life.
As you know don’t underestimate those mini’s not as fast as larger machines, but will flat get it done with an good operator!
Some big trees in that lot - the mini does a great job.

Love the video. I would love to see you do a short video just talking about the pros and cons of different equipment for your average land owner to have to do some land management, with the exception of a tractor because that’s a must have. I think I know what your answer will be but just thinking of the mini excavator, small dozer, skid steer just curious what your take is on the different equipment and the costs associated. I did some clearing back in the day with my Hitachi 50 series, it wasn't bad but I think a 100 series or bigger would be way more effective. Also I like a rake with a thumb to clear with. But I was impressed with the grapple and the jaw bone.
No saws needed. Just push the trees over! Looks fun and safe.

Great video... You're correct with what you are able to clear with the 57... I've got the same kubota as you do, but I use a ripper and the thumb in combination.

I have a lot of large pines 18-24' round mature fairly straight pines in mid North Carolina. how much should a mill generally pay for a long or tree? or would it be more beneficial to have someone mill them for me and how long would I need to wait before milling.

What was the biggest pine that you dropped with the mini excavator? Do you think it's possible to drop a 28-in to 30 in and diameter with a mini . I got a bobcat 331 excavator and I'm about to find out. Let me know your thoughts thanks

Hey cotton. Thanks for all the content and info you share with us. I recently passed my arborist license and have been climbing and cutting and I just want you opinion on what I should pursue as far as equipment. I have a 1317 chipper. I have a 1/2 ton truck and that’s it as far as equipment. I live in the woods so all my “chipp” jobs I’ve gotten to leave on site. I’m just asking for some advice and maybe some direction. I’m trying to take on bigger jobs but I am overwhelmed by the avenues to take. Thanks again cotton.
Next would be something to help u handle the wood like a stand on mini skid. U can easily tow it behind ur 1500

Saw your cat excavator video. Hope you get to spend time in the 057-5 to compare.
Specs are the same on the -5 as my -4. Just a few things they changed and that is mainly within the cab
@@cotontop3 yea, thats what I’m talking about. You complained about the aux button, now its a thumb button right under thumb control for thumb on joystick. But yes, for me the cab upgrade was well worth it coming from a -4. Much needed improvements. I know you run a rops, but the cat was a cab.
That’s exactly what I do not want is to have to hit a button to arm the aux after I’ve already dropped the pilot safety.
@@cotontop3 understand. That’s what you said in the vid. I guess that feature is worth $15k to some. Was just wanting to inform of the change from the “dash” to the joystick on the -5’s. It was annoying with it on the “dash”.

Hello from northeast Ontario Canada. The pines on this lot have a much smaller root ball than what our local ones do. It is a wonder that they can remain upright in a stiff wind. As usual totally enjoyed the content today. Good luck with your event at the saw shop. Cheers
