- BEDWYR is back to tell us all about his visit to the BFI on Saturday, 5th October 2024, where they celebrated the launch of 'BLAKE'S 7' Season 1 onto Blu Ray!
HUGE THANK YOU TO CHRIS THOMPSON FOR THE EXCLUSIVE PICTURES FROM THE NEW VFX!!
Let there be no attempt of a remake of Blake's 7, allowing the harsh lessons learned by other once-great works to be an incentive to safeguard this abiding masterpiece.
Many thanks, JT and Bedwyr, and all the best for now.
Paul
Don't usually watch recordings of live streams if I've missed them at the time otherwise you end up with a huge backlog of live streams to watch which you never get round to. But made an exception for this Blakes 7 live stream and so glad I did! Very entertaining chat about a show I've seen just once a few years back when all four series were shown on a Sky channel. And I absolutely loved it. Looking forward to watching all 52 episodes again one day - Great live stream (as always) thanks to everyone for sharing their love of this fabulous show.
Glad you did too Lady Knightsbridge. Our B7 reviews will be starting soon...
I turned 16 on 10th January 1978. So Blakes 7 turned up at the right time for me. I joined the RAF on 31st October 1978. Back in those days once I finished trade training and I got to my 1st posting at RAF Waddington in 1979, we lived in single accommodation on base. There were 4 man rooms back then, and most of us did not own a TV. So, we would have to cram into one 4 man room to watch Blakes 7 every week. I can still remember us all watching the very last episode in 1981 in disbelieve. Afterwards we all went to the NAAFI bar to drown our sorrows. Great times indeed. I have watched my DVD collection every year recently. I cannot wait to see the Bluray episodes.
What a great story Andy, lovely memories!
@@WhosViews Thanks mate. I think I probably like Blakes 7 more than Doctor Who. I have probably seen every episode more times than most of the Dr Who stories.
Excellent show gents, thank you 🙏🏻
Really looking forward to my copy landing next month! 👍🏻
I can't wait!
Remember watching 1st ever episode of Blakes 7 in kitchen on tiny black white portable fighting with round ariel whilst rest of family in living room watching some soap on main TV . Even so I loved it from the start 😊 Eventually got my dad to watch and enjoy it
A superb show tonight chaps! With regards to the 2000 BBC-2 repeats, they started as a sci-fi double bill with a re-run of Farscape. Farscape was soon dropped and by the time of Deliverance, the Beeb had dropped B7 too(!). B7 fans wrote/phoned the BBC demanding they show the finale 'Orac'' and the Beeb eventually showed it a few weeks later on a Saturday morning if I remember correctly. I watched all of the repeats 'live' and remember being impressed with how vibrant the studio footage still looked so was gobsmacked when the DVDs came out a few years later with an odd green tint to them.
Ahhhh that clears that up! I have vague memories of the repeat season, but I was working when it was on, so never saw it.
There are some Happy Blu-Ray Christmases coming up with WHO season 25, Blake's 7 season 1, and 'The Box of Delights' all within one month! Who needs current TV and film output!... I wonder which season of Doctor Who will be released after 25...
Fingers crossed for S7! Yes, there's a lot of blu rays available for Christmas. PLUS - we have a few shows planned too!
@@WhosViews Series 7?! Oo Er.. I can feel the vapours coming on... Spearhead from Spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace! The one that gave me the recurring nightmare! :D
Loved how they thought computer programmers would use laser/ soldering lance thingy oon green circuit boards
Different with guns that fired hitting with explosive bullet more realistic of killing someone rather than phaser laser that people just feel to floor . Had harder reality that no remake would do now
Startrek believed in future of society Blakes 7 believed in individuals, not heros though different people forced together to survive together against a bad world sort similar to original Survivors with greatest sci fi ship
