Again not having a go at the actors involved. I think there's a good version of the Doctor in Ncuti but the scripts and overall show direction have spoiled any chance of that. Frankly dreading what horrors season 2 will bring.

Another episode that benefits from the fact the what it's being compared to so far this season has been utter rubbish. At best a 6/10. Some good ideas but quite poorly realised, it promised so much and delivered so little. Actually that could be the tagline to this rebooted season 'It promised so much and delivered so little.'

Enjoyed this stream, and thanks for explaining what happened with Esme Cannon's career. She was a delightfully dotty scene stealer in her carry on's and a shame she didn't do more of them, and thanks for doing these reviews it gives me a reason to pull out the discs and give them another watch.

They have to charge for autographs now because of the Internet and eBay. The fans want some autographs to treasure, but there will be lots of entrepreneurs paying the entry feel to get a stack of autographs to sell online.

While i agree the Doctor's a-sexual on-screen and should remain that way we also can't ignore the fact that he did have a granddaughter and the Tenth Doctor did mention twice in New Who that he was a father once so it's pretty clear he wasn't a-sexual then so it's obvious he had a galifreyan wife and family that's my belief but i agree that it should never be addressed in the show and should remain a mystery.

  • @joshuajoshua2732

I agree with mostly everything else you guys are saying except the bit where you keep mentioning that the Doctor is a complete "male" Time Lord no he's or she's an "alien" even in Classic Who it was never firmly stated that Time Lords were seperate genders they only referred to man or woman depending on the incarnation their on at the time but the whole thing that the Doctor can't be a woman is nonsense even Sydney Newman said in a 1986 interview that he wanted a female actress to play the Doctor and he's the creator of the show the Time Lords are one of the most civilised beings in the universe according to the Twelfth Doctor not worrying about gender or sociated stereotypes we can't assume Gallifreys like earth where beings are just male and female who knows maybe there's a third gender on Gallifrey we don't know or maybe they are just simply gender fluid and that's ok gender should be irrelevant either way it doesn't matter it's fiction it's a TV show it's happened now whether you agree or disagree the Doctor is a gender-fluid Time Lord now and if people can't accept I think it's sad to be honest times have changed and things progress. Also about the signings it's not the actors that charge them it's the people that run comic-con or their managers.

This” it’s happened now like it or not” is why the Show has failed! Subvert the fan’s expectations is the mantra that all Franchise Show Runners spout. From Ghostbusters, Star Wars, Star Trek, Indiana Jones , Marvel Universe. Failure upon failure! Until those making entertainment start giving the fans what they want then they will continue to fail and lose huge amounts of money. This isn’t progress. It’s regression. Dr Who was once a fantastic Science Fiction entertainment Series that used to be adored by children. Generation after generation. Now? Kids aren’t watching. Neither are the casual viewer and the regular fans have left in their millions. The character of the Doctor works best as male with a female companion. That’s just the way it’s always worked. The Whittaker experiment failed. Badly cast and badly written. Almost 11 million watched her first episode but slowly they drifted off and NEVER came back. It wasn’t just a mid season malaise. Gatwa is also miscast. Not a good actor but again the stories are very weak and just preachy nonsense. The ratings don’t lie. The highest ratings the series gained were during the William Hartnell, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker, David Tennant, Matt Smith eras. Those are FACTS. It’s a winning formula that the producers deliberately ignored. Millions of fans didn’t like it and left. They have never accepted the new changes of canon. So” like it or not” the Show is now dead. Killed by people who wanted to subvert fan’s expectations. Thanks!

Belated Happy Birthday Paul Mk i I missed the start of the show so didn’t realise. Re the Comic CON (they got that right)… I’d never go to one of these industrial scale events, mainly because I’ve been spoiled rotten with conventions in the 80’s and 90’s. Now THOSE were something very special and i have lots of treasured memories. Thanks for another brilliant show gents 😊

Answer to your question what are thy using to film the cameras are Arri Alexa's with anamorphic lenses but yeah that set does not reflect the £80,000 camera used to film it also Gatwa's hair and the other shadows look all washed out and no separation the shadows need to brought down so what you said it looks untreated as in not processed with a colour grader like myself :)

I want to address JT directly here. Thank you for holding the line and correcting someone conflating Britain with “England”. Very few people do this and it seems that right or left, the country is being encircled by American beliefs that England is an island. This includes the English themselves who will sit in front of the Union Jack and talk about Britain, the UK as “England”. If you fight back you get this wall of flat-brained morons shouting “Muh Magna Carta” [sic] while completely ignoring it was a union of English and Welsh laws. As per usual there are more people who believe in the nice warm bath of a lie rather than get out ofnit and put some effort into doing something. Not to mention there are more English and Americans believing the lie that England is an island that have the numbers to effectively erase the nations and minority identities of Britain. To finish off here, I once got into an argument with an Amercian about what my own country was called. Which really illustrates how bad it is and nothing is helped by politicians in the UK making the same error right or left. Anyway, hats off to you JT.

Hi JT, catching up today. Interesting chat re the comic con saga. I used to go to the Memorabilia show at Birmingham NEC. Now I notice its always called ‘Comic Con’ and suspect these things have bee largely taken over by big industry and dominated by ‘Cos play’ and greet & meet packages. Believe it or not I just used to go to but comics/books and good old physical media! Might be going to the Birmingham show end of November but will not be paying silly money for autographs, I tend to get autographs direct from ‘fantomautographs’, you get the actors proper signature with either photos or replica BBC cast card (which I think are really cool). They usually only charge £15-25! much better value Smile

Okay, Christmas Special: The time sharing idea isn't bad. Not really original, but isn't bad. In about three hours I will remember examples of it being used before, but it isn't fully original. So... My prediction on the story of this thing.... - The cold opening parts where the Crying Man jumps around with is toastie will never be referred to again. (this is typical Moffat padding. Lots of one off zero context scenes of the Doctor doing goofy stuff with guest actors) - The plot will be triggered by something that could have been easily avoided. Now we know it is a time hotel and have seen the T-rex we can all safely assume that they all get stuck in time somehow and struggle to get back to 'now' and the TARDIS. - The blonde chick, (Joy?), will have some tragic past, probably involving the death of her father. She will Girl Boss cause Moffat loves dom women and Crying Man and/or Lizard Dude will act like a Simp cause Moffat loves having simpy dog can'ts as his male characters. - Perception filter, cause EVERY SODDING nuWHO has one these days cause the writers don't know how to explain anything - the Sonic Butt Plug will do whatever the plot requires it to do, cause the writers don't know how to resolve anything - The blonder chick will solve the problem by drawing out some hidden depth that she had all along but was suppressed (probably by the Alt Right). The problem will literally be solved by the Power of Joy. - The Doctor will cry and wild card, - the Doctor will step on something.

RTD get a grip! If you want to be an Activist, go and be one! Just DON'T crucify Dr Who to send your messages.....that is just selfish and self indulgent

Had to leave the chat early on this one. I disagree with the Doctor being portrayed as asexual. The 1st Doc started his travels with his grand daughter. This suggests a family style setup and suggests that Timelords do have sex. It just doesn't need to be discussed in any great detail and of course it only suggests that Timelords are attracted to other Timelords and not travelling the Universe doing a Captain Kirk and getting off with every alien they can.

Yes Intimacy Coordinator I have been working with on sets for years now in Australia & yes I know many male actors are happy to have them as basically it protects them from any blow back later from female actors possible complications.. complaints later & I think the "me 2" movement kinda made this happen, more & in ways it's good to have on a drama series or film having seen several Australian actors tainted by accusations, that many after years of court then got thrown out but damage done .. one series I was about to start pre production on its series 3 when bam get the call "sorry its cancelled due to allegations against the lead male actor".. so yes, I agree but in these modern times sadly it is needed. But It does show the big changes on Dr Who to need this person on set. & yes if they don't consent we have used a body double or like you said it's carefully re writing or extremely carefully shot.. that's why you see more naked tops & bottom shots of men on many shows etc as they drop there kit & it's a reverse objectification now & men are more the sex object. Not that I'm complaining 😅 Yes a reflection of the modern times.. "Carry On" films & many classic British & Australian film & tv series would never happen today so save your dvds all. ❤

Great show. Many thanks, JT, Ian, and Paul - Happy Birthday! I made a very special point of not watching the clip of the Christmas special on Children in Need. That's not because I'm not very interested in it - although I am not very interested in it. It's just that I'd rather see it within the episode itself. It appears to be a silly comedy episode, and will prove a poor contrast in the schedules if following the far superior comedy and thrills of the new Wallace and Gromit film. If only it could be instead an episode of Doctor Who in the style of proper Doctor Who, providing chills and scares to the gathered family audience via an intelligent, engrossing storyline, not yet more throwaway nonsense to which not very many people will give their undivided attention.

  • @iluv2b
    @iluv2b วันที่ผ่านมา

I'm quite looking forward to the Christmas episode, whilst readily appreciating that, for many, it deserves nothing but pre-emptive derision. Whilst in no doubt about either the shabby set, or unnecessary hamming-up that is Gatwa's repeated 'pumpkin latte routine', and also finding the inclusion of a Silurian sales rep highly questionable, I was greatly impressed by the excerpt on Children in Need, giving as it did, much narrative in a short space of time. I'm absolutely no fan of Gatwa, believing, as do most, that he burned all his bridges a good while ago. I did, however, greatly enjoy Moffat's previous entry, Boom, feeling that the lead actor was improved under the 'tutelage' of Moffat's writing, and also seeing a glimpse of something similar in the excerpt. As a test of concept, I remain curious about the extent to which this can be reproduced. Moffat and Davies are different animals and, for what it's worth, I don't care for either, but simply believe that the former has retained far greater respect for the show, a much better sense of what tells a good Doctor Who story. Many thanks, JT, Paul and Ian, for another great, varied stream. All the best for now. Paul

@WhosViews you know it's true. And I know it's true. You never talk about the show except to complain about your political views. When is the last time you did anything outside of politics? You spend 3 hours complaining the world doesn't revolve around you or your ideals and you use doctor who as bait to draw others into it too. You can lie and maintain the illusion or you can just do what normal people do and make a political channel instead.
