The writers wrote this as the end b/c they didn't know if the show would get renewed. If it wasn't this was going to be the perfect ending. In my opinion, if the show did end it would have left a perfect place for a spin-off. But... The end @ 15seasons and screwed us out of a lot of stuff; like a better ending for Dean.

To anyone who didn't know he was God at that moment I feel really sorry for because that was literally what the writers were going for. Prophets are biologically humans, they aren’t able to teleport or hide themselves on a whim. So given the fact that Chuck can, and knows of everything that has/will happen, means it can only be god.

    • @wtcvidman
      @wtcvidman ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@elcesar121 It wasn't rumors. During the summer break after this aired before season 6 was filmed, Rob Benedict revealed to the fans at a convention that Kripke told him his Chuck character was the God of Supernatural, so it was confirmed WAY before shitty season 11. Kripke had stepped away so there was no reason for him to lie or mislead anyone by telling Rob something that wasn't true. Those of us who had been around and watched and followed the series in forums where this was talkes about knew ever since then.
There were also other huge clues such as Chuck being Kripke's avatar in the series (with how Kripke was the creator of the series, thus making Chuck the creator of the universe within the show) and Chuck's disappearance in a way no human or angel had disappeared. Plus his knowledge of things that not even a prophet would know, such as the past history of the Impala, as prophets see future events, not those from the past as Chuck knew about the Impala and its previous owner Sal.

As we saw, the ending was absolutely atrocious compared to what Kripke set up in this perfect series finale. It sucks because I loved season 6 but everything after season 6 was pretty much crap with how they turned Lucifer & demons into jokes, how they retconned so much and the way they shat on Chuck's character and turned him and so many others into something he wasn't while killing Bobby and replacing him with the shittiest characters they could bring to the series. And they did jack shit with Michael who should have been the main enemy in the end since everything that happened was due to him and he should've been extra pissed when he finally got out. Instead Sam & Dean didn't give a rat's ass what happened to their brother Adam and that was a huge middle finger to the central theme of the series----family.

"No doubt, endings are hard. But then again... nothing ever really ends, does it?"
It's funny, looking back to when I started watching Supernatural. It was years ago and I can't remember what the current season was. It was after season 5, I know that much. Anyway... I didn't think I was going to like it, I though it'd be too scary. I was wrong. It turned out to be one of the greatest shows I've had the pleasure of watching. From the first episode of season 1 to the final episode of season 15, I loved every second. I had to wait for new seasons because I live in England, but the wait was always worth it. And it's always there for me to rewatch should I feel like it. I have all the DVDs and I have Amazon Prime.
Season 14 is my favourite, and I loved the final scene with God Was Never On Your Side playing. It's one of my favourite songs now. The finale to season 15, and by extension the whole show, broke me. I was crying throughout the whole episode. It was hard to accept that one of my favourite shows that had been with me for years was ending, but... nothing lasts forever, as much as we may wish it could.
    After all, endings are hard.
    Thank you, Supernatural, for everything.

On April 21, 1967, the 100 millionth GM vehicle rolled off the line at the plant in Janesville -- a blue two-door caprice.
There was a big ceremony, speeches. The lieutenant governor even showed up. Three days later, another car rolled off that same line. No one gave two craps about her. But they should have, because this 1967 Chevrolet Impala would turn out to be the most important car -- no, the most important object -- in pretty much the whole universe.
She was first owned by Sal Moriarty, an alcoholic with two ex-wives and three blocked arteries. On weekends, he'd drive around giving bibles to the poor "".
That's what he said. Sam and Dean don't know any of this, but if they did, I bet they'd smile.
After Sal died, she ended up at Rainbow Motors, a used-car lot in Lawrence, where a young marine bought her on impulse. That is, after a little advice from a friend. I guess that's where this story begins.
    And here's where it ends.
The impala, of course, Has all the things other cars have...and a few things they don't. But none of that stuff's important. This is the stuff that's important. The army man that Sam crammed in the ashtray --it's still stuck there. The legos that Dean shoved into the vents --to this day, heat comes on and they can hear 'em rattle. These are the things that make the car theirs --really theirs. Even when Dean rebuilt her from the ground up, he made sure all these little things stayed, 'cause it's the blemishes that make her beautiful. The devil doesn't know or care what kind of car the boys drive.
In between jobs, Sam and Dean would sometimes get a day --sometimes a week, if they were lucky. They'd pass the time lining their pockets. Sam used to insist on honest work, but now he hustles pool, like his brother. They could go anywhere and do anything. They drove 1,000 miles for an Ozzy show, two days for a Jayhawks game. And when it was clear, they'd park her in the middle of nowhere, sit on the hood, and watch the stars...for hours...without saying a word. It never occurred to them that, sure, maybe they never really had a roof and four walls, but they were never, in fact, homeless. That's a good line.
Endings are hard. Any chapped-ass monkey with a keyboard can poop out a beginning, but endings are impossible. You try to tie up every loose end, but you never can. The fans are always gonna bitch. There's always gonna be holes. And since it's the ending, it's all supposed to add up to something. I'm telling you, they're a raging pain in the ass.
This is the last Dean and Bobby will see of each other for a very long time. And, for the record, at this point next week, Bobby will be hunting a rugaru outside of Dayton. But not Dean.
Dean didn't want Cas to save him. Every part of him, every fiber he's got, wants to die, or find a way to bring Sam back. But he isn't gonna do either. Because he made a promise.
So, what's it all add up to? It's hard to say. But me, I'd say this was a test...for Sam and Dean. And I think they did all right. Up against good, evil, angels, devils, destiny, and God himself, they made their own choice. They chose family. And, well...isn't that kinda the whole point? No doubt -- endings are hard. But then again...nothing ever really ends, does it?

I loved this episode, but I'm glad it wasn't the series finale as intended! Don't get me wrong, it would have been an amazing ending, but I just didn't like the "retiring from hunting to an apple pie life" for Dean (while Sammy burns in Hell, no less). Just doesn't seem right for his character. My ideal ending to SPN will be Sam and Dean going out in a blaze of glory together.

    • @amberxv4777

Finally someone who gets it. S5 was great and all, but Dean letting Sam throw himself in hell was the most ooc moment I've ever seen. Okay he let's him do it, because he promised to let him make his own choices and have faith in him.. But Dean that we know can never move on from letting Sam die let alone burn in hell. In s6 we find he was trying to bring him back and the year he spent without him (despite having the family life he wanted) was the worst year in his life.

Thank Andrew Dabb the real douche and king of shitty retcons. I want Kripke to one day have a true final season where he retcons everything in seasons 14 & 15, perhaps even everything since the wall in Sam's mind broke since the season 6 finale was the last episode Kripke came back to write after he left. He could turn everything into Lucifer's torture visions inflicted on Sam or explain Michael having escaped after turning Adam into his first demon (perhaps a green eyed demon) where Adam would be the most powerful demon of the series given the most powerful archangel created him and possibly infused his own archangel grace into Adam. And using his powers, it would be explained that everything the Winchesters experienced regarding Chuck & Jack (I hated the Jack character and the stupidly overpowered shit they turned him into) would have been a warped reality much like Gabriel created in Changing Channels but far more extensive that Michael created. It would be similar to how Dean in that one episode was in the real world but believed he was interacting with Benny in Purgatory.
Michael had so much to answer for and it was ridiculous how he never did after they brought him back. He was the one who took over Heaven, who guided humanity's fate into his own will, who sealed Death (as the alternate Earth's Michael did to the Death of his world), and who raised Lucifer to be so much like him and have the same disdain for humanity that Michael himself had. There was a reason Chuck & Death helped the Winchesters seal not only Lucifer but Michael as well---because true free will and the true natural order was never possible with Michael in "city hall" as he told Dean in The Song Remains The Same. In that very episode he made it seem like him fighting Lucifer was God's plan but of course it wasn't. Much like he was passing the blame off to God back then when he spoke to Dean, the same would happen if Kripke returned to explain the Chuck we saw in seasons 14 & 15 was a false representation created by Michael's warped reality and was not Chuck at all. It would be his way of subduing them while he went on to reclaim the world with demon Adam as his pawn/helper. I would imagine Jake Abel returning to reprise his role as Adam while Michael leaves Adam's body and resurrects John Winchester in his young form as his vessel so that Matt Cohen returns to reprise his role as young John Winchester. That John-Adam aspect of such a final season would truly bring back a huge family element to the series that season 15 was completely lacking. It would also have a nice parallel of having Michael and Adam being the neglected sons of their respective families much like season 5 had the parallel of Dean & Michael as the obedient sons and Sam & Lucifer as the rebellious sons of their families. Sam & Dean seeing Michael take their dad as his vessel while also fighting to save their biggest failure (their neglect of Adam) and restore demon Adam's humanity would make it an awesome season with so much at stake for the Winchesters.

If this next season ( 15 ) is suppose to be the last & if the couple clips I've seen about God NEVER having been on the boys side then this clip helps to prove that it's only ever been about the story for God ( it was hinted at that in the clip ) & how he wants it to go, but the the guys find out out & confront God.

@@amberxv4777 Just because you bought into the retcon bullshit doesn't mean it's true. This was the true ending to Supernatural with some slight changes to accomodate for season 6's existence. If God was never on their side but was always their foe, Kripke would not have ended the series the way he was going to with the main villain on the loose. Whether you want to admit it or not, the moron Andrew Dabb gave another middle finger to continuity as he did so many other times (such as Gabriel's death, reapers being turned into angels, Naomi, etc) simply to make God be the final season villain and screw all the canon that had been built. And by making God the main villain, the idiot Dabb indirectly turned all those demons and villains who were used as previous season villains into victims that were fed to the collective meatgrinder that are the Winchester brothers while making them his unwitting accomplices.
God/Chuck, i.e. Kripke's avatar in the series, being depicted as a villain was also a cheap underhanded shot that Dabb gave to Kripke along with the dialogue heard in Don't Call Me Shurley where Metatron made fun of earlier episodes that Dabb could only wish he could have written because he sucks so bad.
You truly missed many points in the series if you believe God was not on their side. God was testing them as Chuck himself even mentions at 4:10 in this very video by seeing how far they were willing to go and went so far as to shine His light on the Impala to distract Lucifer with a familiar sight & thus get Sam who was trapped inside his own body to focus on the Impala and regain control long enough to take the dive (no ordinary sunlight was going to distract Lucifer and we heard a supernatural ringing when the light of God reflected off the Impala). It's no coincidence that prior to that scene Chuck had spoken about the Impala's importance in his monologue as heard in this video (Chuck as God was foreshadowing what would be happening shortly). Castiel later even told Dean that God helped, possibly more than they would ever know (implying it was His light). Chuck/God did this to help Sam & Dean trap His own 2 eldest sons in the cage just to prevent them from killing each other and destroying most of the world with it. He put Sam & Dean on the plane after they were responsible for Lucifer's escape. He told and reminded Sam how bad it was for him to drink demon's blood when Sam spoke to him privately in The Monster At The End Of This Book even though it went against the plot of Chuck's own story and contradicted his "source of entertainment" as the idiot Dabb later retconned it, which completely shows what a crock of shit Dabb's retcon was and how Chuck's own actions prove what a liar and how full of shit Dabb and his shit plot were. Chuck was even there to protect the present day Dean when he was in the alternate 2014 future where Sam said yes to Lucifer as seen in The End after Dean & Sam parted ways and never got back together like they did in the real continuity later that very same episode in the present day. Even in Dabb's own season 11 plot, Chuck was originally going to offer himself to be sealed in a similar Mark of Cain by Amara to save the world until Sam, Dean, Metatron, Lucifer and Crowley spared him of that fate. Someone who wasn't on their side wouldn't have done that. Dabb's own plot contradicts what that moron did later on. And do you know why? Because Dabb is the type of shitty writer who only cares about the current plot and is willing to throw Kripke's & even his own plots under the bus if he sees a cheap opportunity to inject drama, whether or not that cheap opportunity contradicts canon or not. That's exactly what he did with Gabriel's bullshit return/retcon in season 13 after Kripke had already ended his character.
The real Chuck was not a fan of theirs but wrote the story of their lives and was a protector who intervened when they really needed him. Dabb's misconstrued version of Chuck was a fan and that's something he was never meant to be. Chuck was their protector because he knew his sons Michael & Lucifer and the unfair & impossible burden they placed on the Winchesters and how the brothers who humanity's fate rested on, given they were chosen as the vessels of Michael & Lucifer, would need help that only God could give them as no other angel would have the power to go against the 2 oldest and most powerful archangels in existence. That's why he hid his identity because even angels like Zachariah who served Michael and Uriel who served Lucifer (possibly Michael too since both Michael & Uriel wanted Lucifer freed) would make things impossible if any of them knew Chuck was God.

While the bros trying to stop the (another) end of the world, going through a literal hell not even once, hes mumbling about their car, instead of helping them hes bitchin on how hard it is to write a story.

This scene was made before they even knew the show was gonna have fifteen seasons and that proves that the ending was perfect because it happened the way it had to. Supernatural is amazing, yes, even after season 5.

**************** SPOILER-ish (For those who haven't seen the entire serie) ************
1 point to take... Is it just me? Or in "Fan Fiction" (S10E05) the girl writer/director, Marie knew that Sam came back from Hell? I mean... Chuck (a.k.a. God) in his narration, he says that 'they chose family', and that Dean made a promise, so OBVIOUSLY he went to Lisa and Ben... But how does she know Sam came back from Hell? Because Chuck let that "ending" in "Swan Song" open...
2 point to take... Lucifer might have been a "Spoiled little brat throwing a tantrum" BUUUUUUUUT... He was always right about God.. Do you agree on this??

I'm going to wait till the last episode till I decide. Chuck was way smarter than how he was in the last season finale. He was being way to obvious that he was manipulating things almost like he wanted them to know. And seeing this seen again at the end when he says even against God himself they picked family makes it even less believable that he didn't know how Sam and Dean would react when they found out.
