Knowing these two fancied each other back in the old days just makes that chemistry make so much sense. They’re absolutely brilliant together.

Derek Jacobi liked Ian McKellen, but Ian wasn't interested.
I don't if this was why, but honestly, Derek wasn't what might be called a handsome man when younger. I mean, not bad, but not hot.
But as Derek got older, he got a lot better looking.
Now... life has moved on from those precious days of yore.

My partner recently introduced me to something called "I claudius" (or as we laughingly call it, i clavdivs), being born after it was aired I had never heard of it.
It was epic. And this was hilarious.
Derek was utterly masterful in I Claudius, there was not a bad actor to be seen, an incredible production that my humble working class mind very much appreciated. I wish the BBC still did such things. The line of the show though was definitely delivered by Brian Blessed, "IS THERE ANYONE IN ROME WHO HASN'T SLEPT WITH MY DAUGHTER!" he was utterly intimidating but I was crying with laughter at that, I have a dark sense of humor.

He also did a series called Brother Cadfael where he was a monk who solved mysteries.

I adore these two geniuses !! As an American, I was mad for both seasons of "Vicious." Ian and Derek can do ANYTHING, and do it to PERFECTION --- comedy, drama, you name it. It is such a treat to watch 2 consummate professionals make it look so easy, and be so excruciatingly funny (my face & stomach hurt after watching them) 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

All these were found on the TV show "It'll be alright on the night" hosted by Griff Rhys Jones. There's another one i know where Sir Ian (Freddie) walks down the stairs and says "grandchildren, how long does she expect to be alive!" *Pause* "And that ladies and gentlemen, is the first mistake of the evening." and walks back up the stairs. :D

    Thanks for posting this.
You really get to see their personalities and how they interact with each other off film. Excellent blooper real. Or as we call it at home in the UK, outtakes.

It’s called “Vicious”, and it’s brilliant. Not to mention, in the show there’s a young actor who moves in upstairs from them who is straight but extremely innocent and sweet. Imagine my horror seeing that same actor in Game of Thrones-I walked in and said, “Oh look, it’s Ash from Vicious; I just love him he’s so adorable. My husband gave me a strange look, because the character was Ramsay Bolton.

Only those two could get more laughs than the ones scripted for them. Sadly, I doubt we will ever see such masters of acting ever again.
